  1. Look at that Blue Beastie.. If i had £20K odd, i'd be looking out for a second hand one, but my budget is a little smaller.. Saw a nice two towne Green Turbo S recently at the local dealership in Penicuik.. But it's as usual, a bit pricey, there not known for hagling, but i may pop down and see them.. It does look nice. S
  2. So far so good. Being a Scooby as you've mentioned, as long as it's been looked after then hopefully you shouldn't have any issue's with it... I kinda like the chunky high rise looks, the Turbo is an added bonus. I'll make sure i watch out for the rear suspension.. I wasn't aware it was self levelling, i thought that was an option and not standard... Si
  3. Morning all, i'm thinking about getting back into Scooby ownership but was thinking about a Forester Turbo this time.. Anyone got one, anyone give me there thoughts on the car.. Reviews etc. I had a Turbo Wagon last year for about six months, i regret getting rid of it but due to the usual, high fuel consumption it had to go. Her indoors wasn't chuffed with the monthly fuel bills, but what a car.. So i was thinking i could dupe her into thinking the Forester was a Freelander-esque type motor and not the gas-guzzler rally mota like it's wee brother the Impreza.. (yes - she believes everything i say, and she cooks, cleans and is pretty, not many like her to the pound) I'll be looking at the 177bhp model, not one of the new 2.5 modelss, but i can't find much out about it.. I'd rather know from owners than some magazine what they think of it... But i'm sure if it's just an Impreza underneath, with the same engine but slightly detuned the cost of ownership will be roughly the same as the old wagon i used to have. Oh, i'm selling ma MGB V8 (original factory) to partially fund this - if i go ahead and get one. Anyone fancy a brutish 76 V8 MG... TVR's are fur girls, this is a mans car... An Auld Mans car, i agree. Cheers Simboy
  4. Cheers.. Someones gonna get a crackin motor. Come on guys, might even consider a P/X..!!! Simon
  5. HI there, i'm in the throws of starting the mod but with my Classic Turbo Wagon.. Looking at the piccies it aint too old.. Where are you and how much do you want for it.. I'm in Penicuik.. Cheers Simboy
  6. Hi Dave, cheers for meeting and what a real shame about the D.Valve.. Thanks for updating me that the car i bought wasn't infact a 99 but a bloody 98.5.. You've no idea how much i wanted that to fit this afternoon.. Many Thanks Again for trudging all the way to the the Harthill Services... Oh - and nice car..!!! Very sweet.. Simon
  7. OK Scoobsters, i need info on buying the correct Dump Valve for my 98.5MY Classic.. I know everyone gets them fitted for the sound, and why not !!! So whats the difference between the valve from 93> onwards to 98/99 and from 98/99 onwards.. Oh and are "Nobles" gonna say it will Nil 'n' Void my Subaru Warranty having one fitted ?..... Any info greatly appreciated. (does anyone have a cheap zorst and dump valve up for grabs) Hi all, the update, just found out the cars a 98 and not a 99 as the subaru garage told me and as the chassis plate states.. So it's a 98.5MY. So Dave kindly met me to supply and fit a forge d.valve and to his astonishment "and my embarrassment" his one didn't fit due to my lack of Scooby knowledge.. And Dave as i found out is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the motors in comparison to me.. So - anyone got a nice easy to fit Dump Valve for a 98 Turbo.. Mind, i'm Scottish and Tight.. So keep it cheap.. I also stay in Penicuik incase it's easy for a meet. Cheers for reading. Simon.
  8. Afternoon, i bought my classic turbo from a local dealer a couple of months ago with a full Approved Subaru warranty and not a dealer one, well i took mine back to complain about Piston Slap with the hope that they'd maybe help me out and fix it under warranty.. No No No.. They told me it was the usual for a Scooby to have P.slap and that after 10/mins ro so it goes away, which it does, but why would you want a nice shiny Scooby with a knocking engine.. Before you say, you should have heard it on test drive, the car was warm... as soon as i drove it i signed for it. But apart from that the car is spot on.. Well maybe the fuel consumption could be better..
  9. Cheers for the welcomes and the advice. I reckon a loud back box or system will soon drown out that Old Ford Diesel sound first thing in the morning. I'll make sure i look after it so it doesn't cause me any financial pain. So far the mota is an absolute peach, handles, brakes and goes like nowt else i've owned, it's rattle free, i actually think the cars are carved from Cold Granite as they just seem so well put together and solid... Interior's a bit basic but thats not the reason you buy them i reckon. What things am i to expect owning this motor, apart from the usual fuel consumption, tires and brakes. Are there any usual problems or faults with these cars i should look out for.. As i've mentioned my one is a 99MY, like that should make a difference.... Cheers and thanks again to all for the warm flat four welcome to Scooby World.. Si
  10. Hi all, new to the Scooby scene, always been a Ford man. Yeh Yeh Yeh.. Now i am converted and not before time too. Always wanted a Scooby and then by chance a nice 99MY UK Wagon appeared at my local Subaru dealership. Good price, came with a full Subaru warranty and not the dealer one, taxed and tested so i was hoping for peace of mind with this new purchase. Anyway, drove the car, was blown away with it and had to have it.. So traded the V6 MK3 Mondeo in and now i'm the proud owner or a rather nice looking Turbo beastie.. I'm very happy with the performance, the fuel aint that bad as long as you drive it sensibly. It's just the Piston Slap when cold.. What a bloody rattle. I had it back to the dealer to get there expert opinion and they say it's a Subaru trate.. Is this correct. They reckon the engine is strong and sound and will last aslong as i service it regularly. I always warm it up properly, no trashing and thrashing and let it cool for a good length of time whether it needs it or not. Am i to be worried. Remember this is a main dealer i am dealing with. I thought they would deal with it under warranty... .. Is piston slap almost certain failure.? It's also really embarrassing when you showing off your new supercar to your friends and they ask "is that supposd to be that noisy". The noise doesn't completey go away, after 20 mins or so it's a wee bit quiter but doesn't go completely.. Thats whats bothering me... I look forward to yer replies. Oh - great site and forum.. I am on the look out for a back box. Looking to mod but not get in the way of the warranty... Watch this space.
