  1. Hi Mugs. No problem, just speaking as I found them. I did ask about the inlet manifold issues before going ahead with it, they assured me that it didn't need to come off as they are able to work round it, I don't remember how, it was 18 months ago, but I was convinced and had no problems since. I had been running two cars until this one, an old Landie for winter and a MX5 for summer, but with two lots of insurance and MOT's it made more sense to have a fun car all year round. Regards. Russ.
  2. When we had the Outback done, it took 5 days at Greenfuels in Bath and cost over £1800. The system they installed killed the cat as it has a manually adjusted flashlube system and they got it wrong, though they wouldn't admit it. The Profess autogas system is Polish and I can't fault it. Their technicions fitted it in a day and by the time they'd fine tuned the computer bits, stays on gas even at full beans. Russ.
  3. Hi Mugs. Filler cap on the bumper undeneath the petrol filler cap. Brings the RFL down by a massive £10 a year..yes a whole £10! Hardly worth the fuss of all the paperwork involved, but if you regurlarly travel into London and get it registered, I think it's free for the congestion charge. I never go there, so could be wrong! Also, tell the ins co. I don't think It's any more expensive, but they do want to know as it is a mod, as is a tow bar and everything else these days.
  4. Nothing in Ystrad Mynach. They'll give you a car for the day and only charge for the gas you use. Cardiff isn't far, but I went home as it took about 11hrs for the conversion. They include the first 1000 mile service and that only takes about 1/2 hr. The annual service takes a bit longer but they only charge £40 +vat. Great all round service. Russ.
  5. Hi. I had my hawkeye lpg'd by profess autogas 18 months ago. No regrets at all. Cost me £1100 all in, with electric flashlube. Not noticed any difference in power between the two. Paid for itself in the first year, I do about 10k a year. Get almost 5 mpl on gas paying around 72-79p. per ltr We also had the wifes Outback converted 4 years ago, still no probs with that one either. Russ. I got a 54 ltr tank in the spare wheel well as it takes no more room, and carry an air pump for local journeys and the space saver for longer trips.
  6. 6 weeks later....... It stopped beeping on turning on the ignition but carried on with the 3x3 beeps when turning off. I've since had it serviced at Keith Price in Abergavenny and they can't find a reason for it either. They confirmed the beeping on turning the ignition on was low battery voltage, they think that the LPG conversion might be something to do with it beeping after it's switched off. LPG service due in a couple of months, we'll see what they say. Russ.
  7. From memory, P1410, but I think thats due to the lpg system confusing the O2 sensor. I'll do another read tomorrow as the CEL came on on the way in to work when I booted it a bit to overtake. Russ.
  8. Terminals are clean and dry, no issues there. I didn't get the old battery tested as it seemed the obvious thing.....Obviously not though! The new one does seem to turn over much quicker so the old one was beginning to show its age. Russ.
  9. Continuing from my last thread... As the title says, the new battery didn't make any difference. Russ.
  10. New battery installed and running....BUT....Its still beeping!!
  11. The battery arrived today, but too late for me to fit it before going to work. I've put it on charge, I'll fit it in the morning and see if it stops the beeping. Russ.
  12. I've ordered the Exide premium, it should be here in a few days. I'll let you know if you're right and it stops the beeping. On the subject of Panasonic batteries, my wife has had Subarus for the last 15 years and I've also had a few over that time. Most of them with their original Panasonic batteries, up to 8 years old and this is only the second one I've ever replaced. The old legacy I had, I used to lay up over the summer and put the convertible on the road. I had a solar panel connected to the battery to stop it going flat and never had a problem. Thanks all for your help. Russ.
  13. Cheapest best quality battery so far. Anyone bought from here? http://www.carparts4less.co.uk/cp4l/c/Subaru_Impreza_2.5_2006/p/car-parts/car-electrics-and-car-lighting/electrical/car-battery/?444770056&1&ee9c5fbecd3de1d0bb4821c9559eb7ac8d227718&000020 Russ.
  14. The general consensus is battery. It started okay last night and this morning, so I'll put it on charge when I get home this afternoon. I moved the car to let the o/h off the drive earlier this week, next time on starting I had to turn it over quite a few times on full throttle to start it. This will have drained the battery more than usual and it's struggling to recover, especially with the high drain it's getting atm. Thanks for the replies. Russ.
  15. Those Panasonic batteries are very good though, my old 2.5 V reg Legacy managed 8 years on it's original battery.
  16. 2006, coming up to it's 6th birthday in a couple of months.
  17. Possibly door open beeps or auto arm has be set on the alarm system?? Slammed all the doors and bonnet, not fiddled with the alarm in the last 10 months. could be a battery issue i know when mine had the battery flat it would beep when turning the key in the ignition? could it be possible your battery could be right on the limit of flat/enough charge? if thats possible??? Possible... It is the original battery. Not noticed and low battery issues, but the cold weather will show it up if I have. It spins over and starts as normal at the moment. My commute is about 30 mins/16 miles, enough to charge but I have been using a/c, demisters, full beam most of the time. I'll keep the jump leads in just in case. Thanks. Any other ideas welcome. Russ.
  18. Hi all. For the last two days my wrx has started beeping at me, two short, one long, three times, on start up and then when switched off. It is running ok with no dash lights staying on. I've checked the obvious, doors, bonnet, service schedule, fluid levels and anything else I can think of and all seems fine. Any other ideas? Thanks in advance. Russ.
  19. Does the abs still work? Have you tried an emergency stop to see if any of the wheels lock? Check the skid marks and find the one(s) that locked. If the abs still works, suspect an electrical problem. Russ.
  20. Loving these replies! As a 56 year old, I like to watch cars pull along side me hoping for a race. You can see them twitching to get away first, be it "white van man or modified corsa" etc. Even better to let them race off and just ignore them! I expect they can brag to their mates that they beat an Impreza off the lights! Last week on the M32 I over took a Volvo estate of some sort, he obviously objected to this and suddenly sped up and sat on my tail until I pulled in past the line I was overtaking, and that he was in. Don't know what that was about but he thought he had something to prove? It seems that seeing a WRX overtake, they all have to prove they're faster. I just let them get on with it. I Never had this problem with other fast cars I've owned. Russ.
  21. A colleague once commented that my wife had boy racer tyres on her new Outback. The Yokohamas it came with! Russ
  22. The Outback is a 2007 sen, the WRX a 2006. The Outback has frameless doors too but also has a stiff chassis and has good ncap figures. Build quality is solid, and the body has weight saving panels, plastic tailgate and bonnet etc. Turbo and intercooler do add weight, but I'm sure they could do more to lose weight. Russ.
  23. Hi All. When I was choosing which car to put the tow bar on, I was very surprised to see the difference between my wifes Outback and my WRX. The max braked towing weight for the Outback is 1800kg, the WRX is 1200k. But the Outback weighs 1465kg, the WRX 1425kg, only 40kg less! The Outback is a much bigger car, has a hi/lo box, leather heated seats with electric adjustment, moonroof, sat nav, cruise control, heated mirrors, full size spare wheel and much more heavy stuff. So how come the WRX is not much lighter than it is? Russ.
  24. As the title says really. I need a tow bar that doesn't obscure the number plate. I've been looking at the fixed and detachable witter tow bars. Anyone got one fitted or any other suggestions? Thanks in advance. Russ.
  25. I had mine converted to lpg when I bought it, so only paying 69.9 a litre. The £1100 it cost will soon pay for itself and I intend keeping the car for at least 4 years. It's the only way I could justify having a 20 mpg car and keep smiling! Russ.
