I am an Automotive Apprenticeship Training Officer and I am looking for new employers to take on an Apprentice (Maintenance, Body, Fast Fit or Motorcycle) in the entire South Devon Area. My college, South Devon College, is an Ofsted Grade 1 (Outstanding) provider with an excellent set of facilities and a very high success rate. The only thing we are really missing is hundreds of employers There are some financial incentives available for those who have not had an apprentice since 2009 - not guaranteed as it is a Government scheme - and we will try our hardest to get that sorted for you. PM me or answer this post if you would like a chat about it.
An STi power is normally around the 266 bhp mark I think. Decatting will not add much to the power (mine went from 227 to 235 bhp) until you remap, then you should be around 330 bhp at a rough guess. You really should get it remapped as doing the decat will change the way the engine works. Do not want to scaremonger but you could damage it if you do not get it sorted. SOmetimes the CEL comes on with cars that have the decat and no remap. A bit technical to go into here about what the changes do really. The best thing to think of when modding is: 1. Can I stop properly? 2. Can I go round corners properly? if the answer to that is yes then next is 3. Do I need more power? The answer to 3 is always yes incidently but you do need to consider that a car with a good suspension and brake set up will be better to drive than oone with a poor setup and lots of power. The only other mod is to get the seat to sterring wheel interface unit trained! (That is the driver to you and me).
Enjoy your car
Cambelt, should be done at 5 years or 50-60k miles. I would also change diff and gearbox oil and maybe do all the brake fluids:) Would not hurt to have the air con purged. Sometimes the rear shocks give out too.
You will get a lot of opinions, but most of the brakes on recent Scoobs are good anyway. Nothing wrong with Brembo stuff at all. If you are going to track it regularly then maybe an upgrade to a bigger brake system would be good. Hoses always good to upgrade, fluid - no, you cannot just swap it. Remap should have been done, if not get it done and enjoy it Air filter is a good idea too.
Oh yes and welcome!!
