Don't think it's my pic. I suspect it's Kev's (whooosh). I'd be very surprisec if he minded. Cheers, N

Dougster - rope access technician. This'll give you an idea of what it's all about. John - I saw the ROV one. This was a while ago. Cheers, N

I have a feeling that someone on here (or on SN) asked a question recently about a possible career change and potentially becoming a RAT. Any takers? Reason is that I've just received an email that might be of interest. Cheers, N

To be clear, these aren't my pics. They're Kev's (Whoosh). I just blagged the links from an old SN thread. BTW - it's me in pics 17 & 18 with JohnS in the passenger seat. I think 8 might be me as well but can't see the reg. On the Seat site thread, that's me (in the Impreza) pointing the wrong way after taking out a cone and the timing lights - this one. Devlin - isn't this you? (from the Seat thread). Cheers, N

Hi, The sprint event at Golspie is on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th September. Both days are individual events (i.e. two events) in both the Highland Speed Championship and the (Guyson) Scottish Sprint Championship. I'm entered in the HSC in class A4 (road sports cars up to 1700cc). I run a Westfield MegaBlade (Honda FireBlade engine). Approximate timings (for both days) will be as follows: 10:00 Practice runs start (usually two per entry) 12:30 Lunch 13:30 Timed (competitive) runs start 16:30 Prize cerimony The track at Littleferry is an excellent venue. It's set up in different configurations on the Saturday and the Sunday. Saturday is tight and twisty. Sunday is a bit faster and more flowing. Apologies in advance if you know what sprinting is all about ... there is only one car on the track at a time (actually two staggered). The objective is to get the fastest time in your class. Runs are (IIRC) about 1.75 laps. It's a great discipline IMHO 'cos to get a good time, you have to get everything (start and every bend) 100%. There's no room for error. I'm generally pretty slow but my philosophy is that I'm competing against myself and nobody else. If you make it along, please come and say hi. I don't know what my entry number is yet but I'll be the only lilac Westfield. There will be a few Scoobs competing - most notably (I hope) John Stevenson. Cheers, N

Hi Jools, Yes, please consider me confirmed. Car? Base case should be 2003 Westfield MegaBlade (RWD) Second choice (in case I have probelms or it's slashing down) MY02 STi UK Prodrive If there's a spare slot, ideally, I'd take both cars. But only if it's certain that won't detract from what everyone else's wants to get out of the day. Cheers, N

You're a star ! All booked up - cheers I was bricking it a bit 'cos I told CT a few weeks ago that I'd sort accommodation. I only got around to it today just to find nothing available. Anyway, thanks again. Catch up with you soon. Cheers, N

Hi Jools, Question for you ... Can you recommend a nice / quality country type hotel close to Golspie. I have a sprint event there in a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, it coincides with some mega piping competition so all the Hotels in Golspie itself seem to be full. TIA Cheers, N

Jools, Can they do a RWD car or does it have to be 4WD? Cheers, N

Hi, This is something I've been meaning to do for a long while. It seems like a good time of year to do a course of evening sessions. I'll be looking in to it properly over the next week to compare courses etc. Right now, I favour The Red Cross but I've little basis for this. So, two questions ... 1) Would anyone be interested in joining me ? 2) Does anyone have any experience / knowledge they could share ? Cheers, N

I've heard that the Superfast have reduced their fares a bit due to poor demand. I'm told they are now competitive with services from Newcastle and Hull. I can't be sure though since I haven't compared them (i.e. I may be corrected). I've posted this on ScoobyNet - might be worth keeoping an eye on. Looking into hotels, I like this one since the facilities are described (on another site) as ... Secure garage, car-port and lot parking. Rooms en-suite with mini-bar, satellite TV and VCRs. Bar & Restaurant. Camping & BBQ facilities. Balcony views of the track. Workshop equipped with lifting ramp, tools, welding equipment, trailer, etc. Tyres and bike 'service' at weekends. Hire of anything from movies to mountain bikes! Escorted tours of the Ring and local roads. The big thing for me is to identify the date. We'll have to wait for the official 2003 calendar to be released in the first instance.

John sums up my way of thinking. I'm afraid that I really can't stand hours of motorway bashing. I liked the idea if the Rosyth ferry because of its proximity and the the civilised sailing times (leave late afternoon and arrive late morning). A few beers and a decent night's sleep or 600+ miles of motorway and then a train journey ? ... ... now let me think ... yup I'll pay the extra and turn up fresh as a daisy ... but hey, each to their own ...
