  1. Yeah I do have front shots now after asking the seller to send some through and it looks OK actually.
  2. Thanks I've tried PM both these guys
  3. Thanks for the info guys, you've convinced me the STI is the one to go for. This is the one I really like, so nobody else even think about buying it lol:- http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2386314.htm Not sure if anyone on here knows this car?
  4. Insurance was surprising I have to say, cheapest quote was £340 for the STI and £310 for the WRX. I'm an old git Currently have a Corolla T Sport but only bought it as a stop gap to the Scooby. I no longer require a car for my work as I've started a new job within walking distance from home. So it's really just getting my 'dream' car for a few years before I get too old lol. Also have a family and we'll use it for holidays, so needs to have a decent boot which is where the Corolla falls down. I also think the standard WRX is a bit plain interior, but the STI is a bit better with the Blue Suede seats etc. Really want the STI but just need to be convinced.
  5. Yeah the WRX STI I am looking at is a 52 reg White Bugeye and described as Prodrive model.
  6. Hi, Currently looking at getting either A Blobeye WRX (possibly PPP) or a Bugeye WRX STI Type UK. The STI will cost a bit more to purchase, no big difference in insurance quotes. But what is the general consensus on the best buy? Is it worth paying a bit more to get the STI or does the Blobeye have a lot of improvements over a bugeye that make up for it?
  7. http://www.whatcar.com/valuations/result?makeId=23443&modelId=23602&editionId=23616&yearId=15&mileage=72000 So probably about £5.5-£6K? I may be in the hunt for one very soon if you were interested in a cheaper p/x + cash?
  8. MM that is a great looking car I Would worry slightly about the knocking though if I were to get a WRX. I really like my cars to be perfect with no rattles or knocks which is why I went for a VAG and it hasn't disappointed. With a limited budget I don't then want to have to spend on coilovers or the likes as I'm sure the standard handling would be a big improvement like you day over a normal car anyway.
  9. Yours sounds like a great car MM, are there any piccies?
  10. Sounds a bit too complicated for me. I think I'd be holding on too tight to have time to be fiddling with the torque distribution.
  11. Oh and if I really decided to blow my budget how about a WR1
  12. Every time I hear one of these beasties burble past me just make me want one all the more. Of course you now need to upload a sound clip.
  13. It's a late 2001 model and has the 2.3 V5 VAG engine that produces 170 BHP. Around town mid to high 20's. A couple of weeks ago I went on Holiday across to the west coast and the OBC was giving an average 38MPG which isn't too bad I guess. Usually I get 320-380 miles to a tankful.
  14. Very Nice, the mods are subtle and effective, but will you give in to a big rear spoiler
  15. Brilliant can't ask for much more info than you all have given me. Like you say C_WRX the best bet is to take my time and get the right one. I always run my V5 Toledo on 99 ron anyway as it does run smoother and gets better mpg Also know about the front splitter problem and car parks/Ferrys:- So if anyone knows someone looking for a nice comfortable car let me know Thanks again folks. I'll keep you updated! PS Still can't find Richies silver wagon. Off for another look. Great Forum btw!
  16. OK that's interesting on the PPP. I see a lot of guys go the Andy Forrest route etc. Is there any tell tale signs to know if the car has been re-mapped even if it's not advertised as such. I know the PPP kit is usually easy to spot but not sure about any others? Also what sort of differences am I likely to see in running costs between WRX to STI and say 2001 model to 2004 Model in terms of road tax, insurance? MPG isn't too much of an issue as it will be used at weekends only Sorry too many questions I know!!!
  17. Thanks for the replies guys, great info. Yes a STI Blobeye is out my price range for sure. I also wondered then if a WRX blobeye with PPP might be the best bet? I get really hacked off even with my Tolly running around in Edinburgh although it does have 18's with 225x40x18's which dont help. So an STI would probably not suit although I really like it's interior.
  18. I'm looking at £6K or less. Depends on what I get for my own car too. I have seen a WRX Wagon 2004 with 57K for £5995 in a local garage so something along those lines.
  19. Due to a change in my circumstances I am contemplating buying a Scooby again. I had this classic UK Turbo 10 year ago:- Hopefully it's still on the go. I would probably now be looking at getting a 2001-2004 WRX/STI/UK300 ranging between the bugeye and blobeye versions. Prefer the look of a saloon but tempted by the practicality of the wagon. Looking to spend £6k or less Looking for some advice and opinions on pros and cons of each model without starting a debate lol. Also what to look out for if going to view any. I currently have a SEAT Toledo V5 which has lots of toys and is really nice to drive, but has nowhere near the grunt and handling of the Impreza. Will still need something reasonably comfortable and pleasant for the missus and kids Will the Scooby suffice?
  20. Another newbie here and not a current scooby owner but well versed on the SEAT Cupra forums. A change in my work circumstances means I will no longer need to drive to work. Whilst I absolutely love my Toledo V5 to bits, I am tempted to sell it and get a toy for the weekends I owned a classic UK Turbo 10 years ago after buying it brand spanking from Nobles. Unfortunately again a change in work circumstances meant I had to sell it 9 months later due to running costs working through in Erskine - ouch! Would be looking for probably a bug-eye WRX or STI. Actually the one above would do nicely Would have to be something really nice though to make me part with my own and there seems to be a lot of high mileage or abused examples out there.
