bit of an update, Katy's home from hosp, got a ct scan and it came up clear, she's bruised her spine, whatever that means. (shes home that's all that matters) Farmer is screwed he's broke so many laws from not displaying a valid tax disc to travelling a distance between sites greater than 1.5km as legally allowed to with nill duty tax (which he hadn't bothered with since 2006................would have been interesting if the scoob wasn't taxed the outcome difference then.) Already looking at a Terzo

yer, I'm sore but otherwise ok...apart from being in one hell of rager of a mood. I'd actually stopped the car, and attempted top get up the embankment, but the verge was to high to get the scoob to climb up from a stop kids seem ok, news from hospital isn't very bright they're sending my mrs for CT Scan suspected a fracture in her neck bone somewhere.

If you use instant gasket, take the seal completely out the rocker cover clean both the seal and the actual rocker cover so they've got clean oil free facings. Lay the seal back into the track in the cover, (also doing the same for the bolts and plug spaces) and once the gaskets in place use a tiny amount of gasket in the corners where it raises from the flat to accept the camshfts. That's the bit that seems to let the oil out the most, might also be worth doing the cam and oil pump/crankshaft oil seals at the same time for the few extra quid, it might save you a bit of time later on.

Would you sell a copy of the disc? I can size them in photoshop. Subaru couldn't get me the decals, or I'd prob of bought them

Been looking recently for a portable-ish set of ramps and keep looking at the ones in car dealerships that you drive car onto and the full thing tilts and lifts up. With a bit of work and thought these would surely be enough to work on the car on? exhaust changes, servicing, brakes, suspension swaps etc. Anyone here know where I'd get a set?

Are the damaged heads only suitable for the scrap pile, or is it possible to have them repaired?

turns out right hand cylinder head is cracked at the spark plug hole, so i'll get new heads fitted to it in the morning, not a great deal of luck with the car so far.

aye, it seems to be well fubar'd! halfway through stripping it down, a pair of fresh heads here ready to go on!

To just about the full level on the expansion tank, but this morning it took almost half a litre or more into the header tank, and now there's a definate misfire.

well after a few days trouble free motoring the impreza has started to blow some water out the expansion tank overflow, not all it's water just a bit. This only occurs when being sent on a bit. Could it be possible i'm overfilling with water...cracked turbo or heads? It doesn't rise it's temperature any more than it did with it's old engine (stays fairly steady only very minor fluctuations) and it will idle for half an hour-an hour without blowing water out, neither will it blow it out when driven steadily.... strip down job? THank feck i've 4 spare heads, just incase!

Thanks jac, i'll try in the morning. just re-built my own engine (new heads) and it picked up a shell today.....not a happy chap lol

What heads and gaskets are required to use a 2.5 block with the 2.0 heads?

I wasn't going to get in touch with him till i was ready to have it done, as i'll need to organise transport for work etc first. But maybe i should get in touch see what he reckons and roughly when he would be able to do the work req.

Going to be doing a few changes and mods to my car, (MY97 Catalunya) First of my mods planned is a new ecu, It's down to either a Autronic slim tec or the apexi fc, the autronic will free up more cash for new exhaust headers which i'd fit at same time then it's a trip to Andy Forrest to get it mapped. Just wondering which if any would be the best to go with, I intend to put the car to around the 350bhp mark within the next year or so. Also un-sure if any allow for anti-lag? Also a contender would be solaris but it'd be using cash i could use on other mods.
