  5. Hi all, I'm new to the forums and new to Impreza ownership, but I have one big hurdle standing in my way right now...INSURANCE....and I'm going to be a grumpy old woman and get on my soap-box about it, so please bear with me Although I have an comprehensive history of driving high-powered performance cars on both road and track, I have not owned one per se in the last 12 months, therefore (so far) nobody will insure the Impreza A bit about me: without giving away my age I have been driving for 23+ years with a completely clean licence, no convictions (driving or otherwise, either spent or pending), no accidents or claims (last one of those was for theft of a car in 1992), maximum no claim bonus on one car and 6 years ncb on another. I own a 911 Carrera, BUT, because the car's 20 years of age and on a low mileage classic policy, they exempt this from the 'experience' bracket. I am a named driver on another policy - regularly driving my boyfriends' 2007 Jaguar XKR, which is no less powerful than the Impreza. I've also previously held MSA competition licences in both rallying and racing and in the 1990s worked for the MSA as full-time member of staff and rally observer. I've been a car enthusiast and multiple car owner all my adult life, owning cars ranging from a Volvo(!) to an XR4x4 and all sorts in between. Despite all the above, I'm still being viewed as some potential moron who's going attempt to drive the Impreza the same way you'd drive a Nissan Micra 1.0 WHY??!!! This makes no sense whatsoever. I can demonstrate sufficient prior driving experience od similar vehicles to know how to handle a powerful car safely and responsibly and yet none of this is even being taken into account. So far Adrian Flux underwriters won't touch it unless I've already owned the car for 12 months. Greenlight also insist on 'ownership' of the Impreza itself for the 12 months BEFORE they will insure. High Performance have yet to come back to me, but I'm not holding my breath and general web insurance (Confused etc.) throw it out completely regardless of anything, simply because it's modified. This brings me to my final grumpy comment, surely ownership and driving of any vehicle are two very different things? I could in effect, put the car on the drive for the next 12 months, not even drive it, and yet get insurance next year without any problems!! This also makes no sense. Anyone out there with similar expereince and/or some advice please?! EDIT: Apparently if the car was not modified, insuring it would be a breeze. Don't you just hate it when they say things like that
