Hullo, Not been on here in a while! I've had my 55 plate STI for about 1.5 years or so now, bought from a member on here. Been a treat all this time however it's time for the first proper repair - the clutch has started to slip. I noticed it a few month back but just the once and it was about 4000rpm in 4th but it didn't really happen often (maybe once a month? I don't really drive it past 4000rpm that often) so I left it at that. However it's started to do it quite frequent, to the point where any hard driving makes you feel it. It'll go from around 3500rpm to 6000rpm with no power, then go back down to about 4500rpm and then you can feel it kick in as the revs build again. Doesn't seem to do it in 1st or 2nd though, but the rest of the gears it's noticeable. Maybe it would do it in 1st and 2nd if I drove hard in they gears often. Anyway, will be taking it into Hypertech when I can arrange to get it in and last time I spoke to them they said I would be better off sourcing the clutch myself as they (few months ago) couldn't really get it at a good price. The cars running 350bhp, 380lbft and the vast majority of time is normal road driving so I assume OEM gear would be fine? Where would be the best place to pick this stuff up? Cheers in advance, Rab

Looks great mate, reminds me of mine once you had your hands on it. Good to see your car is spot on too! Will be in touch in the spring about my car

Seem the car at quite a few cruises around this way. Fair play for doing what you want! Not my cup of tea though

My Hawk STI is £245 for 12months. http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/road-tax/?de...amp;deriv=32937

It was the full write up, good pics, full and thoughtful emails that made me go for it Although, I didn't even know about SIDC. I Googled some random thing about comparing 2 STIs and Sparky's for sale thread was the first link in Google When I sold my Leon, I had it on every forum and free car add place under the sun. It sold the day after I picked up the scoob. Don't just list in 1 place. There is loads of forums where you can put it on, but make sure you bookmark all the places listed so you can go back and edit any and check for questions. Good luck with the sale

Hullo! Nope, it came like that. It's the better one you told me to go for Just ordered all the snow foam stuff, and drying towels etc. Let the OCD begin! Little photoshop -

Yeah, same as what's in Scoobypedia.

Got the car back today from Paul, if you are looking for a detail I would recommend giving him a call http://theultimateshine.com

Looking good Any other plans for it? Rab -
If you go with Sky Insurance (http://www.skyinsurance.co.uk/car_insurance.html) you need to be 25+ if you drive a Subaru. She did say on the phone that you do get a 20% discount if you are part of a car club, so when/if you call make sure you say that. They asked me to quote my username. No use to me because I'm 21 though! Elephant is the cheapest for me from what I can find. Rab

Going into Skidz on the 1st! Head unit, front speakers, amp, sub (smaller size). Craig wasn't aware of an SIDC discount though, but he gave me one none the less

Ah, nice one Cheers, Rab

Had a quick look around - think I'm just going to go for a head unit just now and if I want more I can go back to Skidz I suppose! Liking the looks of http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/pioneer-deh-5200sd.html although can't find anywhere near me with them in stock and I want it today!
-
Yep! Although the insurance just came in the other day...

Cheers mate, will take a look. Link does work, just seems really slow. Rab

There he is! They took their time getting they documents out eh No, I didn't fit the coilovers - I would do more harm than good at stuff like that

Hi folks, Is the standard speakers crap in the Hawkeye? Or is it just the head unit driving them poor? Going to get it put into Skidz in Falkirk in the next few weeks and can get a good head unit, new front speakers, an amp and a small sub fitted for about £600. Although if the speakers are actually quite good I might try and save a bit and just replace the head unit myself for now. I don't really want something big, just good sound quality. Wasn't going to go for a sub, but the guys at Skidz said it would be a good thing to go for (10"-12") Any thoughts? Cheers, Rab

Cheers folks. I don't know what type of wheels they were, had a quick look on the for sale post when I bought the car and it's not listed. They are 18s powder coated titanium grey. Aye, was on the car when I got it. I've not done too much to the car since I got it. Painted grilles / fitted the coilovers / new grooved disks. Will do. I notice a difference already tbh without them being set up. I use them on a medium setting just now, but will let whoever does the setup change that if they say so. It's not as bouncy as I expected, quite a smooth drive. You can tell it's lower though, as my splitter can catch my drive (just) if I don't angle it in - and the mud flaps scrape speed bumps! Rab.

BC - I got them with the car. I still need to get them set up properly though, taking it through to Pro Grip once I get a noise fixed. Can't find out if the knock comes from the coilovers or if it's from something stupid like the back seats. Also needs wheel bearings because I need to replace the ABS rings, better to get that all out the way before Pro Grip I think. Cheers for the comments

Grille before (and before coilovers) - After - Removed Type UK badge because it was fading a bit, and I think it looks quite cluttered in that area - Cat off to inspect my work - New front splitter just arrived because that one has a couple of chips and cracks, so looks like that will be today's job! Trying to decide if I should bite the bullet and get it wrapped in matt black, or to get it into Ultimate Shine to remove all the swirl marks etc. Any ideas? There is a difference of £1000 in the price... Rab.

I want one that says RAB, but they are all pretty expensive. I thought I had a link in the 1st post but seem to have missed it off - it's £799 on the DVLA site. There is a taxi firm called Rab's Taxis near me, and they have RAB on all their plates - perhaps I could phone up and see if they have spares they are willing to sell. Rab

Would you pay £800 for a private plate? Found one I quite like with my initials and name, RR55 RAB but not sure I want to fork out that much money... Do they tend to fluctuate in price much? Anyone else got lucky through eBay or any other websites? Rab
