About silversurfer

  1. Hi there, thought I'd better introduce myself. I'm Dave, 38 years old from Cornwall. Have owned my 2001 Impreza Turbo Wagon for a grand total of 1 week. Went to a car dealers to have my central locking looked at and ended up driving home in my 'new' Scooby. 2 previous owners, fsh+receipts, 87k on the clock and completely standard, apart from a set of Platinum plugs, Bonus! Took her for a test drive in some of the most inhospitable weather imagineable and fell in love! Always wanted to own a Scooby, but never thought I'd get the opportunity. Was in the right place at the right time, I was driving an 07 plate Proton Satria GSX with 19k on the clock, and one previous deceased owner, started chatting to the salesman and managed to do a straight swap for the Wagon! Result! Apparently the depreciation on Proton's is pretty horrendous, and as the Wagon was on the forecourt for 5k, I don't think I did too badly. The consecutively registered Satria to mine was still sitting on the forecourt with 0 miles for 6k, so I was pretty chuffed! Mind you, so was the better half when I picked her up from work in a Scooby instead of a Proton! lol. Since bringing her home, (Scooby, not the wife!), I had to travel up to oxfordshire to collect the wife's grandad, and return to Cornwall with him for xmas. Unfortunately the weather/traffic was really bad last wednesday, and make for a very interesting drive in my 'new' car, WOW! What a first proper Scooby driving experience that was, everything from driving on solid ice, snow, and driving rain! She took it all in her stride magnificently, and my father in law who accompanied me was as impressed as I was, is Impreza a translation of Impressive!? I've been a member of many car clubs in the past including the XR Owners club, and the RS Owners club, spending many a boring hour sitting in a field, watching a highly polished dream machine, slowly get dirtier througout the day and getting sick of asking people to keep Little Johnny's sticky fingers off the paintwork! Now hopefully I can attend some of the trackday events advertised, and use my wagon for what it's mean't for, DRIVING!! I look forward to hopefully meeting some of you at these events, and indeed in my local area, I'm near Liskeard, please come and talk to me, I don't bite, and I'd love to find out more about the world of Scooby!
  2. I too caught up with half a dozen rock throwers on the way back from Oxford just before Xmas. My strategy- hold back till the outside lane was clear, and FLAT OUT! Probably still get sprayed with the same amount of salt, just seems to get it over with quicker.
