  1. I went and bought some Castrol LM grease. LM grease is a wheel breaing with quite a high melting temperature, not that its ever going to get as hot as it would if it was applied to bearings. I cant see the grease being used in shocks to be any thicker or thinner than this. Obviously you want a grease thats thick enough to provide some resistance but not thin enough that it wont do much for the shock. As I said, I'll try this tomorrow and take pics throughout the process and report back with my results (fingers crossed it works out).
  2. I will do this to my old shocks tomorrow and photograph my progress along the way to see if it makes a difference. If it does I will be getting a refund from Camskill for the KYB shocks I bought off them last week.
  3. I am by no means a Scooby expert (only had the Scooby for 4 weeks), but I am running them and they dont feel any different in terms of damping to the standard STi shocks.
  4. Camskill are even cheaper than that. Two rear shocks for my 04 STi cost £170 delivered.
  5. Lovely example. I had a wee nosey at it today when he parked up. I was looking at P1's myself but this Blobeye came up for a good price so I went for it.
  6. Gold OZ's on his P1?
  7. I too am an engineer. Graduated from Strathclyde Uni last year and have been working full time offshore for the passed year. 4 weeks on, 4 weeks off means 6 months holidays a year and thankfully I dont pay the dreaded tax.
  8. Ahh ok. Engine, deck or other crew?
  9. I have seen quite a few Scooby's down this way. Probably. You didnt by chance stop in Mauchline to drop someone off did you? A P1 was parked right outside my flat twice yesterday.
  10. Sure am. Work for Knutsen OAS on a shuttle tanker. I take it you are ?
  11. Although I went along to the BBQ I sadly didnt get to introduce myself to you all. I am Ian and I live in Mauchline near Killie. After months of looking about for a clean example I finally found one and for a VERY reasonable price too down near Gatwock. I booked a flight down to Gatwick with my girlfriend and met the seller at the airport and the deal was done. The car is running 330-340BHP and I am loving it! It is also in mint condition. Plans are to fit some handling goodies next time I am back home from the ship. (the first few pics were taking by my mate Daz and the other ones which look alot less proffesional were taking by me :lol1:)
  12. Chameleon Colour Coatings in Renfrew is who U have used for the passed few years and cant fault them in the slightest. They will usually take the wheels in straight away and are very competitively priced.
  13. They actually look like the best out of all the aftermarket ones I have looked at. Cheers for the link.
  14. I was going to run it on the rollers but with all the caliper problems, it was put on the back burner. Might try and run it next week sometime.
  15. The car is an 04 plate so its to be expected I suppose. I am just glad I am back on the road and the brakes are spot on again.
  16. The STi mats in my blobeye are looking a bit tired so want to buy some new ones to brighten up the interior. Where does the best mats? And what mats do you all have in your cars? Are OEM STi mats expensive?
  17. Well I had an eventful day yesterday while changing my discs and pads on my STi. I was originally going to change the discs and pads then head to the RR to see what my newly purchased STi blobeye was kicking out. So the drivers offside pads and disc were changed in about 20 mins or so and all was going well. I then moved over to the drivers nearside and the caliper bolts were seized and no amount of WD40, pentroil and force was moving them. After about 2 hours of managing to turn the bolts back and forth 1/8 of a turn at t time I heard a lovely pinging sound like something gave way. I first thought I had sheared the bolt, but no, the bolt came out with about half of the threads on the bolt The same happened with the top bolt of the caliper too and on closer inspection I had cracked both bolt holes all the way through the caliper mounts. I first though the calipers were beyond repair at this point, but called Extreme Motorsport on the off chance they would be able to weld aluminum (which they do!) and fit a couple of heli-coils for me to replace the threads. I left Glasgow at 2.30ish and got there for around 3.15pm and by 5pm all was sorted and all for £40! Top guys who are very knowledgeable not only with Evo's but with Scoobies too! They also gave my friend and I a good deal on some dot 4 for both our cars!!! Cant thank them enough!
  18. Thanks, if I dont have any luck sourcing them tomorrow I'll give AS a call. But if anyone else knows where to buy pads in Scotland please let me know!
  19. I am looking for after market rather than OEM. Is there no where in scotland at all? Also, do you know how much OEM pads are from the dealers?
  20. Anywhere folks? I cant really wait a day for delivery so need to buy them tomorrow.
  21. Where can I buy brake pads for my 04 STi's front Brembo's in Scotland? Is there anywhere local to Glasgow or surrounding areas?
  22. Nice example of a WRI but as people have said, I wouldnt have fettled with it and would have kept the prodrive wheels on there. It looks great all the same.
  23. Thanks for the offers guys, but I am fitting new discs so I am really looking for new pads. Is there any places like Hypertech etc open on a Sunday?
  24. Does anyone know anywhere thats open on a Sunday that sell brake pads for my Brembo's (04 blobeye STi)?
