My card was cloned at an ATM. The bank, Halifax, were utterly pants. My account was emptied of over £3000 and I informed them! This is the good bit, the transaction were ALL in Poland over a 2 week period and I was in the UK the entire time.

Then a few months later, I went to Europe on business and they stopped my card after 1 day. A few months later, I was in the USA, informed Halifax of my trip, dates etc... and they stopped it after 2 days. And yes, I was in a petrol station in the middle of Arizona, 150 miles from anything. I had to put it on my credit card.

The banks totally suck at this. I gave the Halifax manager both barrels.

    I was pretty pissed off.

But, they did refund all the money once I informed them.

Oh, and the same thing, pretty much, word for word, happened to my girlfriend too. We used the same ATM.

  2. At the Cambridge pub meet last night and was speaking to a chap about bowling. He really knows his stuff!

Sorry buddy, I didn't catch your name or Forum tag.

  3. My advice would be to shop around and let them know best offer so far. They'll often drop the price to get your business.

I'm on around £500 per year, full comp, 15k per/yr, £150 excess with Direct Line. Co-op and Andrian Flus were £1k and £1.5k respectively. That's for a 53 plate, blobeye WRX SL.

Get a tracker too, no one would touch me without one.

  4. It's totally my fault this happened and I'll put my hands up to it. There was a security vulnerability announced in the news system and I failed to apply the patch software to close that security hole quickly enough.

I don't want credit for fixing problems that wouldn't have happened if I'd taken action immediately. However, as an unpaid volunteer with a life away from this, it's not always number one priority.

In my day job, I have to oversee technical teams who have to patch loads and loads of systems (it never ends). The gap between exploit discovery and patch application should be as short as possible, but TBH, it's us against them. Near Zero-day (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zero_day_attack) attacks are on the up too.

If the site is being "monitored" a gap of 10 mins could be all that's required - and that's quicker than any pro-team can react, let alone a volunteer!!

I think you and the other admins are doing an excellent job. Really, a great job and I'd happily buy you a pint!

  5. Been reading the thread, and it's all good stuff.

I'm looking to upgrade the standard Double Din in my Blobeye too, but any ideas on make/model?

In an ideal world I'd like Sat Nav built into the unit, so I think we're looking at £700 + (?). I'd get a pro in to do it and probably take their advice on Speakers too.

  6. Having just got my first Scoob, I was thinking about this over xmas.

I looked at M3 sallons and Evos. 4 doors, power, boot etc.... If you asked me in 5 years (when I could afford it), i'd probably go with an M5.

But is a hard one. How much influence has Subaru had over the years? Would the Evo be the car it is today without the Scoob fighting back?
