  1. Bear in mind Paul that if you're still on the coilovers another geo set up will mess up your corner weighting. Cheers, Neil.
  2. Don't think I'd make it to the nearest Tesco to be honest.
  3. Thanks for all the replies guys, most helpful and in an ideal world I would go with the Prolong. However as I've probably only got 5 or so miles worth of fuel left it's a no go this time. Car's a daily driver and I need it tomorrow so mail orders also out. Halfords have the Millers in stock and as it's only a mile or so away and next to a petrol station that's what I'm going to go for. Millers say it adds 2 points to existing octane rating so I assume that if I fill up with normal 97RON super and add the booster then that should put it up to 99RON? Irrespective, I won't be giving the car any stick until I can get back onto V-power, if they ever get around to re-stocking it. Thanks, Neil
  4. Siince I can't get V-power at the moment I'm looking for advice on octane boosters. Most likely have to be from Halfords as its close by - I've had the yellow light on for the last 25 miles so there can't be much left! From their website it looks like the options are NOS Octane Boost Formula Street or STP Power Boost Fuel Aditive or Millers Petrol Power Eco Max. Any thoughts? Thanks, Neil
  5. Thanks, very good point which I hadn't even thought about!
  6. Now that I would like to see, anybody got a pic of it?
  7. Hair dryer's the way forward. You can also use WD40 to remove any residual adhesive.
  8. As per title, anybody know of a place that does organic or plastic media blasting in central Scotland? TIA, Neil
  9. I downloaded the demo and TBH wasn't really taken with it, just seemed so slow. Agreed it's not like anything else I've played and after the feedback on here I might give it a second chance - seems like in this case the demo isn't really indicative of the whole game.
  10. I've got pretty much every squeak and rattle mentioned so far and then some! Today the one above appeared for the first time!
  11. Usually corner specific due to brackets for brakelines etc plus different lengths front and rear of course.
  12. I got some genuine ones from RCM a few years ago and they were about that price then, still worth a call though. Have you tried Litchfield? And even ordering direct from Japan they're over £30 each plus shipping.
  13. Liking that junior! I'd be happy with that level of tint all round, wonder just how illegal it is though? Good to hear you've never been pulled for it!!!
  14. That's the problem Paul, I've already photoshopped the car and really don't like it with the back half black. I don't really want to go too dark anyway, just a bit more than it is now, although from the feedback here that's going to put me over the legal limit - I'm too long in the tooth to put up with being pulled for it. Cheers, Neil
  15. Thanks Cathy, I'm in Loanhead on Wednesday so I'll pop in and see them.
  16. Well there's 1 advantage to being over 40, apart from that it's all downhill - greying hair, shrinking bladder . . . . I could go on!
  17. I've always used A-Plan for import or modified. Worth a quick call as a comparison.
  18. Me too, £405 is a sore one! Usually just do 6 months at a time but with the hike in April decided to save a couple of quid and pay the full year. What really gets me is it costs more to tax the car than it does to insure it!!!
  19. Exactly what I'm trying to avoid - agree that strike's looks OK though. I think it depends on the colour of the car as to whether or not black at the back looks ok or not. Mine being white there's just too much contrast between front and rear for my liking. In fact, back in '99 when I bought a new STi5 Type R in white, the first thing I did was order up replacement glass for the rear sides and screen in the same tint as the front sides. Never actually got around to fitting it before I sold the car but hey, that's not the point really . . . .
  20. Yeah, that was something I'd considered but I've no idea how to check the factory tint level. The hatch does have a fair amount of tint already so if I can only add say another 10% to remain legal it probably isn't going to be worth doing. What's the going rate for tinting anyway and any advice on where to go/who to speak to? Thanks, Neil
  21. Hi Guys, Thinking about having windows tinted but have always hated the front half light, back half dark look. IIRC the legal limit for front side glass is 70% light transmission but I've no idea how dark that actually is (if anybody can post a pic showing legal limit that would be great). So bearing in mind all windows would be done at that level is it even worth doing? Car is white 08 STi hatch btw. TIA, Neil.
  22. To put silver bullbs in the hatch you only have to remove the rear lights - lift the tailgate and there's 2 bolts each side, undo and then simply pull light cluster straight back. The fronts are accessible by going in through the wheel arch - you only have to release the front of the arch liner and gently bend out the way, 3 clips each side IIRC. Literally no more than a 10 min job for each end.
  23. Well, after taking a run out to see Transcal yesterday, they're who I'll be going with if I decide to go through with it. Very impressive operation and the examples of workmanship I was shown were superb. I also had no idea before going there that they are the OEM leather trimmers for a wide variety of manufacturers, for example if you order a new Mitsubishi with leather option, it arrives in the UK standard and then gets retrimmed in leather by Transcal. Another plus point is they use special "approved" thread for the seat airbag area which is then barcoded for traceability should there be any legal or insurance issues following airbag deployment. As I said, all very impressive! I didn't get an exact price as they would need to see the seats I want re-trimmed (which I haven't taken delivery of yet) but going by their "book price" it will be competative at worst. Thanks again for all you suggestions, it's been a big help. Cheers, Neil
