  1. [quote sounds like you need a harder compound with more bite, black diamond you pay for what you get !!
  2. Well the tank is 60 ltr which is 13.18 gallon so on a run u would hav to average about 23 mpg to get 303.14 which is possible if u take it very easy and u r on a run
  3. I hav just got black diamond pads fitted to the front and rear ive took it easy for a while to bed them in but i dont no if im paranoid but they dont seem to have the same bite as the original brembo pads when i brake the pedal feels a little softer than before
  4. Yep had thought of them they r about 2mm away from the disc, so getting pretty close but would that be close enough to make the noise??????????????
  5. Sorry but i think subaru hav made a grave mistake with the new wrx, the original was fresh new and original the new one has lost what that car stood for i would rather buy a ford st than one of them, they hav tried to appeal to the bigger market but hav lost what they were about, yer the new sti is a car i would happliy own but the wrx no way i wouldnt buy one for 10k neva mind 17k just my opinion like sorry to rant but thats the way i see it.................... p.s no offence to anyone who owns one or is buying one.
  6. I just noticed the other day that when i brake hard from a reasonable speed the car (05 sti) seems to make a swooshing noise which its neva done before, the car is due a service and needs tyres and new pads could this be the reason for it???????????????? or if not has anyone any ideas?????? Cheers
  7. Well all 4 it is then just what type????????????????????
  8. It was a subaru warranty as i got the car from the main dealer, but im sure that is sum thing it says in the small print!!!!!!!!
  9. Mines an 05sti so its a new age with dccd, the rears r part worn with about 10k on them. I hav heard that u should replace all 4 at once but didnt no why as far as im aware the car drives 65 rear to 35 front however that can change to 50/50 according to grip, Ive just been out in the snow and checked the tread with a gauge i hav 2mm front to 5mm rear getting very near the limit (1.6mm) on both of them really. Times r hard at moment so pulling out for 2 tyres and a service is beta than 4 and a service. When i bought the car the rears were shot so they just replaced them. I would expect the rears will wear out first due to the power split. But how long will that 3mm on the rears last? It might just b as easy to do the lot and if it is not good for the car them maybe its worth loosing that 3mm. Thanks for the crack about the service i thought that was the case so i think i will be taking it to revolutions dont no if u heard of them, but the lads on the local forum rate them i was thinking of getting toyo tyres from them also????????????????? I dont no what anyone thinks of them?????????????? Cheers
  10. I was wondering what everyone thinks of main dealer servicing as my car is due a minor, however it has 3 months remaining extended warranty and in the warranty it says work must b carried out by a subaru dealer??? But up here they havnt really got a good name where as the specialist has so who do i go with??????? My seat also has a rock on it so i need to get that looked at before the warranty ends. Question 2 i need 2 front tyres, i use my car in all weathers and all year round so what is a good tyre to go for?????????????????? i don't want to pay silly money but still want a good quality tyre (tyres and brakes r very important)..................................
  11. Not a recall mate just bad design there is loads of us who hav suffered this i hav and its a a regular question on forums "I hav a knocking noise coming from the back what is it?" I hav had mine done under warranty but hav heard using after market shocks is a beta way to go which is what i will b doing if it happens again...............
  12. Hello to u all Am currently driven an 05 sti ppp, had wrx before that, and a 2lgx before that.........
  13. Your welcome chris Just one more thing i will say about the sti's is that they hav a common fault, the rear shocks go (a flaw in the design i think) it starts with a knocking noise from the rear so when u look for one be aware of this and maybe look at the service history for any signs of them being replaced...........
  14. I was in the same situation as u, get a ppp or standard 1, get a full system and re-map? I chose the ppp 1. a full system with no cats is illegal (2 much hassel at mot) 2. ppp hold there value better generally people want standard cars 3. if you buying 2nd hand the bulk of the ppp is paid by the first owner anyway 4. if you get a warrenty with the car they might try and be funny if you get any problems I'm not saying thats the way to go but thats what i decided to do!!!!! all though part of me wishs i hadn't as that extra 30 bhp would of been nice And yes i think u will need to upgrade the fuel pump
  15. I dont believe the 70k crack i hav an 05 sti ppp and im no expert but off what i hav read the sti engine is a strong one and running 300bhp is well within its limits i hav heard of ones running 400 with no problem its its only when you get above that it might need internals strenghtened etc. I think the classic is more prone to suffer from engine problems like detonation and stuff but not the new age. As for insurance im 32 with 3yrs NCB and pay 670 fully comp so that quote is high.............
