  1. Looking for polyurathane chemicals to make a decent fit race seat. Anyone got any decent web sites?/suppliers supposed to make a sweet fitting seat when the fast expanding foam is used in a heavy duty bin bag then cut out to fit when set (15 min) then a quick cover any help would be nice folks
  2. Ok I took some pictures today to show you some of the install, The Alpine Head Unit (model. CDE-9881RB) is a ipod interface unit so you can just plug in the pod and stash it wherever with the 1m cable and run the pod through the head unit menu's. I like this method as the head unit charges the ipod and the sound quality is great, however many of you may enjoy a cheaper option with an aux-in where you still use the ipod to control the music (downside is loss of quality and battery charge) Anyways thats enough on head units except.... don't buy them from halfords if you can fit them yourself go to www.caraudiosecurity.com and if you cant fit them learn at www.fitaudio.com its easy. and dont buy cheap brands quality matters with head units. I could have gone for a double DIN head unit but decided to fit the pocket supplied by FHI (fuji heavy industries) for the forester which matches the 2001 impreza dash quite well. If your going for a double DIN I think it's gotta have a TV screen and those are pricey and cant be removed at night (except by the chav's on the street who see it). So anyways I run the Alpine E speakers off the head unit and then the JL audio 8"sub in the ski hatch is run off the Vibe black box 3. I think it maintains the stealth style install which is all covered up when the arm rest is put away. So as you can see the last thing I need is a stealth shelf with some 6x9's hiding away. By the way I rate the JL audio 8" sub big time, off ebay.com bargain except £25 delifvery. Maybe it should be boxed for clarity but i'm still thinking that one over. Jam
  3. I'm looking around the internet for a reasonable priced stealth shelf for my uk300 2001 Impreza. I don't know if any of you are interested in sound installs here on SIDC but as I'm a Sound Engineer and a Petrol Head it's hard not to be right? I've already fitted an Alpine Head unit, Alpine Door speakers (direct fit) and a JL Audio 8"sub in the ski hatch (arm rest seat panel) but just fancy a nice mid range from a decent stealth shelf. Anyways if any of you are interested in Car Audio and Scoobies maybe we could start a bit of a chin wag. I can post pics etc if anyone is interested. Jam
  4. this you tube video is just amazing, its ken block practicing for an american version of auto testing. Cant believe him and Travis Pastrana didn't kick ass in the PWRC this year but apparently its tough at the top. Jam
  5. hey folks I have a uk300 spoiler (the shark fin style) and it likes to shake/bounce a little when passing rough bits on the road, pot holes n bumps etc. I drove a gb270 recently and even though it's got a bigger spoiler it didn't rattle at all, I've checked it out in the boot and it's got nylon screws on one side and corroded metal on the other side, holding it down they seem tight, maybe its got worn from the previous owner as the boot drops down very hard from the extra weight, something else I noticed about the gb270 it had a stronger boot spring to resist the weight of the spoiler when closing. any help would be appreciated and any web shops I can get some replacement nylon screws and a stronger boot spring. Thanks all
  6. bugger I have the 330mm prodrive discs, pads and calipers. I changed the discs and pads recently as the last set wore terrible, on both sides the inner pad seized and never moved, this meant that the other pad was pushing the disc onto the other side, this meant crap break life and the strength got dire before I could get the brakes as I had to wait 8 weeks from prodrive!! I hoped to cure this by giving the caliper a good blast with the air line and clean all the dust/crap in the pad mount. I haven't had the wheel off yet to see if the pads are wearing smoothly but should do soon as they have had 2 months to wear in and about 800miles, the brakes work a treat however they make a bit of a wuring sound when breaking from speed down to roundabouts for example(is this normal if anyone else has the prodrive pads/discs?). I used to get the rumble before I changed the discs and still have it now. hopefully it's the wheels tho as thats easier/cheaper. will get them looked at tomorro.
  7. nice one stu saved me a trip to the garage for the wrong thing, think I'll leave it till next week when i go see my folks and go to a trusted local tyre guy.
  8. if you do a quick youtube search for petter solberg fall of click you will see the fall, there was no phil to save the day in the car and poor petter got a bit carried away and made a poor landing on the floor. So a bad week for petter. Sorry dude
  9. when on the motorway doing 100mph the steering wheel and dash will vibrate quite noticeably this then fades as you accelerate above this speed to around 120, However i also have this problem when driving A roads and steering on long bends at around 80 Mph. I don't know if this is the wheel alignment or when the wheel alignment was last done if ever and the car is a 2001 uk300. If anyone could give me a quick response as I'm off the the local wheel alignment centre soon. Jam
  10. JUST INCASE ANY OF YOU HADNT NOTICED SUBARU HAVE DROPPED OUT OF THE WRC. AS FOR PRODRIVE THE SWRT PROJECT IS ONLY 20% OF THEIR BUSINESS AS THEY ARE A BIG ENGINEERING AND DEVELOPMENT COMPANY, I THINK IT'S VERY SAD THEY HAVE LEFT BUT I'M SURE DAVID RICHARDS IS CLEVER ENOUGH TO DO A MALCOM WILSON AND RUN CAR'S IN THE FUTURE COMPLETELY RUN BY SPONSORSHIP (LIKE THE ABU DHABI TEAM) SO MAYBE 2009 WILL BE A DEVELOPMENT YEAR AND A BUILD UP FOR 2010 A SABATICAL YEAR WORKED WELL FOR CITROEN AND THE C4 DEVELOPMENT. PEACE YALL!
  11. think its only on cars first registered after april 2001 as I checked my reg on the dvla web site the other day. sweet.
  12. Nice one guys i'd say your all like jedi masters without it sounding too tacky. I'd say a suspension change will be on the cards as i get the knocking on lights at hills pulling off and the last rear left tyre wore unevenly so maybe its all connected. what sorta dolla do you guys think it would cost at the garage? and maybe a low cost option is to find some plank who's written off a nice scoobie on the front end and buy the rear suspension as a donor?? are their any decent specialist scoobie breakers or scap yards about for suspension? thanks again
  13. My scoobie's a uk300 does anyone know which suspension that would be? I believe its been on there since 2001 and the rear creaks sometimes when pulling off etc during slow driving and the front makes a bit of a wooshy noise going over speed bumbs at a normal 10mph but its fine at about 3mph. however it drives lovely, but I don't know if it would need replacing or servicing asap for an improved ride, i see members scooby222 saying annual replacements are on the cards, sounds crazy guys? so member scooby222 you some kind of scoobie master as i noticed on one of your posts you were boasting how hard you drive your steed?
