  1. There are a lot of Evo X-isms about the new car, but I don't see that as a bad thing, as the Evo X was a great looking car (in my humble opinion). Be interested to see the spec of it. Will they be sticking to 300 BHP again, or are they going to give it a bit more?...
  2. The new STI looks a bit like this... ...and will make its official debut at the 2014 Detroit Motor Show on the 14th January.
  3. Not sure how I missed this line on my first read through the thread. The onboard videos from McRae on the '95 RAC are some of the few I've watched where you can clearly hear the sound of the crowd inside the car: must have been incredible to have actually been there!
  4. Love that picture and the video clip of the cars coming through there: one of those little clips that demonstrated just how aggressive McRae was at the wheel. Although the die-hard rally fans rubbished the X-Games rallying thats still one of my fave clips of McRae in action. The car control is sublime (up until the point when he rolls!) and there isn't a moment of hesitation when he lands: quality! Its not exclusively McRae, but this clip would be my choice... ...I prefered the look of the WRCars that followed, but the sight and sound of McRae in a Group A Impreza is what sold rally to me as a youngster. As for picture, its this one... ...its a pretty rubbish picture, but I took this on the Saturday at the Festival of Speed 2007 (McRae's last public appearance). Myself and the girlfriend got absolutely pelted with rocks as I took this, as McRae was taking the corner way faster than anyone else (how unusual!): the day after the fence had been hastily moved back about 6 feet!
  5. Finally got round to calling Scoobyparts today. Very honest answers from them on the phone. In short the answer is no, their decays and the OEM ones will look different. Although they have copied the design closely the original Subaru decals are all screenprinted, where as the Scoobyparts decals are individually cut letters. So it looks like I'm going to have to buy from the dealership!
  6. I saw this guy in action at the Gymkhana Grid event at Santa Pod last year, was unbelievable seeing such a massive truck sliding around!
  7. If you think I'll get an honest answer then I'll do that! For the price of the Scoobyparts decals I might just order a set of the door ones and see how they look. Subaru want near enough £40 for a door one and much the same for the foglight covers (that's £40 for each foglight decal).
  8. They were Scoobypart decals? Was that the side decal or the foglight covers please mctwistuk?
  9. Unfortunately you won't see me on the 14th: I'm at the Festival of Speed that day! I have got to make the August meet, or that will be three in a row I've missed. Damn, thats a shame, I was hoping you'd have an answer for this one! If the only way I can get an identical replacement is to go to Subaru then thats what I'll go for. Given their price per decal though, I thought it was worth researching other options first!
  10. Hello folks! Apologies if this is the wrong portion of the forum to post this question (its Subaru related, but not exactly "technical"!), but I'm looking to have some paint work done on the N/S front door on my '05 STi, which is going to mean that I need a replacement STi sticker. Also thinking of having my fog light covers resprayed at the same time, so ditto for the decals on them as well. I would rather use OEM replacements, but the price of the genuine items is a bit of the steep side, so I thought I would investigate the alternatives. I don't much like the look of what I've found on ebay, but the Scoobypart decals seem to have a bit of praise and, from the illustrations on their site, look pretty close to the originals. Has anyone here used the Scoobypart decals and compared them to the OEM decals, how do they stack up?
  11. Am I the only one who can see a glimpse of the Prodrive P2 in those concept shots?...
  12. I kept threatening to start posting here again... here I am!
  13. Angular & aggressive: the things the Evo-X and GT-R got right and the "sharkeye" didn't. I think this looks the nuts! Just lose those back doors now Subaru...
  14. Mine started doing this a couple of weeks ago. Annoying, but I was expecting it to happen sooner or later; car goes in next Monday for a set of AST's! I don't know what part of the country you're in, but I got a lot of advice (and brought my car from) RRH Autos in Hampshire. Paid pretty much the same price as I would have done from a private seller, but the car came with a warranty! RRH Autos Ltd
  15. Have to say I'm in full agreement here. These two bits ruined it a bit for me as, otherwise, I thought it was a pretty good piss take.
  16. Good job! I must in the minority though, as I quite like the look of the orange bits on my blob. Maybe my opinion will change over time!
  17. Theres still no release date for it, though theres rumours it may be this side of Christmas - I hope so as its been in development forever! Trailer looks amazing (its available in HD on PSN now as well); plus securing the license for WRC and NASCAR is sure to help the game. I personally thought GT5: Prologue was a bit of an anti-climax, but it looks like they've pulled out all the stops for GT5 proper. Can't wait for this and DiRT 2!
  18. That and the fact that the new car (in my opinion at least), doesn't sound anywhere near as good as the previous Gymkhana car. Maybe its just the recording, but the first Gymkhana seemed to have a lot more of that flat four grumble to it. Having showed it to a few mates (all of whom really liked the original), we all agree the slow motion gets really old really quick. I'd like to see the slow motion shots in a bonus video, but the original Gymkhana video didn't let up throughout: I feel like the slow mo ruins the pace of the new video (especially when its used so excessively). In driving terms the best bit (in my opinion at least) is when he exits the warehouse at the 3:02 mark. He goes through the door pretty much sideways, yet the camera is to far away to really capture it.
  19. I thought I'd wait for a few comments before I posted my opinion. I personally think its far inferior to the original. The original film seemed like a motorsport video, this seems more like a music video; too many special effects, too much advertising and far too much slow motion. Just too, well, American really. Still, having said that, I'd like to think that if I had the money and resources, I'd spend my days charging round dock yards and getting shot at with paintball guns! (I just wouldn't design any garish t-shirts to accompany said tomfoolery!).
  20. I don’t know if Admin want to sticky this thread or will want to post a more “official” looking one (in the hope that maybe, just maybe, it won’t get reposted 10,000 times) but, until such time, here’s the link for the video Subaru forum admin around the world have been dreading… Has Block done it? Has he given the hatchback Subaru some respect? Watch and judge for yourself!
  21. I can see elements of both the Volvo C30 and VW Scirocco in that design. Interesting as, if I read the website correctly, that design/concept is at least a year old. Fingers crossed the forthcoming Subaru/Toyota coupe is along these lines. Or it looks exactly like a Prodrive P2...
  22. Yeah, I know there are 101 different concept images for "forthcoming" Impreza's on the internet, but I just read a story on this concept and I wondered what everyone else thought of it... Obviously its never going to happen (just like the P2 ), but I think thats an amazing design and proof that something radical can be done with a hatchback design. You can read the original story here: Pistonheads - Grid concept Impreza and Honda And check out the designer (Grid) other work here: 3dluvr.com - Grid
  23. Great to see the progress on the car - and see what a difference its made on track. I look forward to seeing it at Brands on the 28th June!
  24. Some snaps of the new Gymkhana car: I prefer the Hawk Eye he used before, but I wouldn't say no to a spin in either car...
  25. I personally haven't got bored of it yet (I don't think I'll ever get bored of a Scoob that sounds like the car in the video!), but I think some folks may have got bored of seeing the number of times the video cropped up on Impreza forums...
