Och, when all said and done, I did some homework before buying my first 2.5L Scooby in 2008. The 2.5L WRX/STI engines had already been already for 2 years at that point, and then — as now — there seem to be very few first-hand accounts of popping engines/pistons/whatever else. On that basis, and especially on the basis of how smoothly/flatly it pulls, I'm very happy owning one. I don't like engines that are all about boost anyway. In fact if Subaru could've crammed a 3.0L in there that'd have suited me nicely
And if you're happy with your 2.0L, then all the better too
I guess I'm just not fond of all these (to me petty) debates that tend to rage on these forums... "classic vs newage", "newage vs hatch", "newage saloon vs hatch saloon", "2.0L vs 2.5L", "JDM vs STI"... baaaaaah – makes me comatose
