It's not uncommon for engines that have been stroked to produce more torque than bhp.

I finally had the time to create edit and upload the youtube video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_Ip7Lpw3MM Enjoy.

Dean, I'll do my best to speak with you at BHP. I'm very interested in various parts. Shaun

OK. It's good to see that the running order has been sorted out already. We've been in touch with Total Impreza and they'd like us to put together words, pictures & information for a magazine feature of the day. I imagine that this will evolve as we get closer to the day but i'll keep you all up to date. You never know, I may even get my car ready for this! Better start polishing those cars....

LOL - Thats a blatent HKS copy - it even comes in the same box and foam lay-out. I pointed it out to the guys at HKS Europe and they say that the market has been inundated with that kind of stuff since the GBP became so weak against the Yen. We've now begun a policy of refusing to fit 'copied goods'. Not worth the hassle but £150 is dirt cheap. Big question is.... do you get what you pay for?

There are 2 kits available. there is a slightly cheaper kit available called the GD Pro. The main difference is the friction discs(as these are both twin plate clutches), the Max has sprung hubs so it's a bit softer for road use whilst the GD Pro has solid hubs. In my opinion, these are a little too sharp for road use but since your Subaru is primarily a track car.... HKS GD Max £995.00+ vat HKS GD Pro £935.00+ vat There is also a single plate clutch available called the HKS LA Clutch. HKS LA Clutch £895.00+ vat These kits are for the 6 speed transmission set-up. If you give me a call, i should be able to sort you out with a discount.

I recommend the GD Max hands down. It's been in Julians car since the very beginning and it hasnt grumbled even once. Thats primarily why I opted to use it. That, and it comes with a flywheel because mines absolutely knackered. OK, it's expensive but you get exactly what you pay for in this industry

I would consider 25,000km to be very low mileage if I were buying an second hand car but when you're looking into buying a specific componant on a fairly specialist vehicle, I'd look to find the lowest mileage possible. Considering they will fit the gearbox set-up, that kind of money isn't too bad. I was under the impression that you were talking about supply only. Will the clutch be second hand also? or will it be brand new? Personally, i'd take the opportunity to fit a brand new clutch - something that can handle way more power than you expect to make in the future. I've just bought the HKS GD Max. It's way more capable than my engine will be, but changing clutches is not only expensive, it's a real pain in the a***. Not such an issue if you get garages and alike to do the work for you but i like to get my hands dirty. Fit once - fit right and all that. Shaun

That seems a little steep considering you dont need the clutch and to be honest, even the mileage seems a little high. Lets be honest, no-one buys an Imprezza to potter around in and in my experience, the first 10-15000 miles is when a car gets used the hardest. I find its the whole 'new car' factor and people tend to smash the hell out of a new car until the novelty wears off. If possible Dean, see if you can obtain the kit with the original gearbox and diff fluids in. I find this gives a better indecation of its wear rather than someone saying 'Yeah, it's alright'. If you're picking it up in person, try to view the car it all came out of too. It never hurts to see why it was all removed in the first place. Hope this helps.

How much? If you dont mind me asking?

That looks good to me Dean

FAST SKY is a long term customer of mine and his car is a true monster. The 350GT is considered by many as a 350Z in a fat suit but i really like 'em. Rare as hell in this country too. 3.5 V6 with low compression forged Cosworth internals and a twin turbo set-up with an incredible ECU. It's coming back to us in late January for the 'next step' as he puts it.....

I'd guess that its the solonoid on the starter motor. We've had 3 identical jobs in within the last 2 weeks for the exact same thing. I put it down to the cold. All 3 jobs were rectified the same way - remove the starter motor, take it apart, clean in up and fresh grease where necessary and re-install. All 3 are now as good as gold.

deani-age, I'd say it was suitable but it doesn't look like it comes with the rear diff and the driveshafts. If they're included then it's a steal. I've been looking at a 6 Speed conversion for a while now for my big power build and you'll be lucky if you can find everything you need for less than £2,500. As far a gear ratios are concerned, it all depends on the gearbox code. Whatever you go for, be absolutely certain that the gearbox and diff ratios are the same otherwise you're buggered!
-
Hi, We have a very strong customer privacy policy so i'd be unable to give you his contact information, but i can tell you that Julians 6-speed gearbox is holding up nicely. His rear diff however has had its issues. Since the entire set-up was bought second hand with no guarantee's about the mileage, we could only hope for the best. The first rear diff gave out once we converted it to run on bio-ethanol but judging from the state of it once we pulled it apart, it obviously hadn't had an easy life prior to Julians ownership. The current diff is holding up well but there are possible plans afoot for both gearbox and diff coolers, depending on testing results in the new year. The gearbox itself has been as good as gold.

Bugger - Thats the same night as my office christmas party. -
I know. lol

The amber is a nice contrast - reminds me of the US market. Nearly everything out there has amber side lights.
-
Dont say that too loud - the boss might hear you!
-
You could always put them on a separate switch?

Looks good. I've got a friend who makes 'new Audi style' LED sidelight inserts for most makes and models. He's yet to do anything for the Scoobies but i've been promised first dibs on my GC8. I'll put some pics up when he eventually gets around to it.
