  1. Well put Al,

    Can i make a suggestion?

Mods lock the thread, problem solved and discussions closed, will save any further escalation for all parties.

God i feel like Koffi Annan sat on the UN Security Council Crisis board.

  2. what more do you need?

considering this place raises thousands for charity i dont want connors place (with the same name as this one :P ) getting any of the credit that may "unjustly" come his way through the work of this place

Well then as i see it you only have 1 option, set up a proper committee register the conceptual rights to "Scottish Scoobies" and continue to raise the funds which you do so well, just don't moan when the "public" cannot differentiate you from anything else called "Scottish and Scoobies" in the same sentence without having a presence, and a public face.........

  3. whether its unique or not is not the point, we already are recognised as scottishscoobies

The response reference the Individuality/uniqueness was to Welsho RA.

I take onboard what Phil is saying as well clearly the point i am trying to make to "you" all is not getting through.

The problem is the recognition of "Scottish Scoobies" is not well known, most people fail to even understand the distinction between SIDC and Scottish Scoobies sorry but that is an honest assessment.

Yes Scottish Scoobies do a huge amount for charity which is fantastic achievement but outwith our online community what other presence do they have on the web in particular which will be affected by Connors venture???

I have seen similar issues previously in other online forums www.ducatisportingclub.com a largely English based following until someone took the Brave step of starting up www.ducati-upnorth.com and it has been a huge success, there will ALWAYS be an element of feeling that another forum in a specialist topic will take traffic away from an already established site. Ok the domain names in this instance are clearly different and not open to confusion.

I remember when Saltire was launched there was plenty of back stabbing going on right here on SIDC, pretty childish to be honest and down right rude especially considering that we all drive the same make of car and after all there is more to life than sitting surfing the forums all day like getting out and enjoying your motor!

I wish Connor every success in what ever form he decides to take his venture, maybe just maybe he will bring back into the Subaru fold individuals who have left SIDC for the short sightedness that is being displayed right in this very topic.

    Regards

    Scott

  4. Welsho,

I hear what you are saying loud and clear and have sympathy.

But what "Scottish Scoobies" have done is not really unique in my eyes.

Take the domain www.scottishscoobies.co.uk and re-direct it to SIDC?

Where is the individuality in that?

  5. No one is arguing about Conner starting his own site, good luck to him. But please, read the rest of the posts and then tell me that there is no issues with clubs that essentialy have identical names and an identical interest.

There will be no issues as long as Connor makes it clear to anyone visiting his site that the 2 are completely seperate.

You guys are missing the point completely here, you failed to protect your "brand" you have no rights to the words "Scottish Scoobies" in ANY form, there is nothing stopping anyone starting up tomorrow trying to pass themselves off as you and there is not a thing you can do about it.

Connor is not going to do that i am sure, it has been a very harsh lesson that thankfully will not damage the excellent work you have done. I would suggest that the team that make up Scottish Scoobies get their heads together and in any way you can protect the excellent foudations you have built so far.

If this was the cut and thrust business world of a site generating income you would be screwed, any half decent SEO expert would be able to pull your traffic left right and centre and the first thing you would know about it would be a drop in revenue.

Not wanting to be too big headed about it let me give you a real life example.

    www.abbeyfinancial.co.uk

You would think that the Abbey Group would be clever enough to own this domain and would have done so for years right?????

    Wrong!

I bought it about 2 years ago and it now provides more hits per week than i could ever imagine (Site is down getting revamped ready for a re-launch)

I have my own financial company Abbey Financial Associates Ltd - We had to get domain approved by the FSA, and as long as we make it crystal clear we are Independent and NOT part of the Abbey Group there is nothing they can do.

Maybe i should be one of lifes good guys and see if Abbey want to just pay me the domain registration costs and i will let them have the name because they never thought to register it???? ;)

  6. Hi

To clarify I said "If you are willing to do a name change we will happily purchase the domain name from you"

I didn't suggest he give it up I just said we would cover the cost IF he wanted to name change

I would however agree sensible debate always wins over mud slinging

Exactly as i read it Phil, however my opinion was that to even suggest he considers a name change was trying to shut the door after the horse had bolted.

Fair play the guy has come on and explained his intentions and IF he agrees to a name change then the group has been very lucky.

My post was more slanted to making sure a similar situation does not present itself again - how about securing the name "Scottish Scoobies" somehow???

    Regards

    Scott

  7. For what it is worth guys i feel this matter has been dealt with in a VERY sensible manner by all parties, hats off to you all.

My only comment is as follows and please don't take it ther wrong way.

To suggest that Connor should "give up" the domain name e.g. "sell" it to Scottish Scoobies is unreasonable.

First rule of the internet is to ensure you protect your "Brand" by any means necessary, i registered 27 seperate domain names to protect my company including typo's and strange spin offs to prevent my rivals "stealing" my traffic.

When .co.uk was registered you missed a trick, luckily in this case the individual who bought .net seems and honest straight forward guy and on first appearences has no malicious intent towards your "brand".

He will hopefully make it clear to anyone visiting his site that he is a seperate organisation from "Scottish Scoobies" but unless you have registered the rights to this then he has no obligation to do that.

Sad fact of life but it may be worthwhile looking at everything to do with Scottish Scoobies with a fresh set of eyes and ensuring if you feel pationately about it which i congratulate you on that the "brand" is fully protected, e.g. logos copyrighted, etc to prevent any more issues further down the line. (The logos may be protected already and apologies if this is the case i was using them as an example)

Did we not also have a thread many moons ago about people copying the Gathering Car stickers as well and flogging them on ebay????

Sick? Very, but another perfect example that when you put "something" into the public domain you must protect it at all costs or suffer the consequences when it is copied. Luckily in both the examples above the effect is fairly minor.

  8. Hi Elreg,

KH is especially tough on Front lefts.

You need to invest in a tyre monitor and lighter run pump, it will pay for itself after 1 track day.

If you run the tyres at 37 before going out e.g. cold you will destroy them (I think i am reading your previous post correctly) As the air expands they become over inflated and run on the edges.

You need to take air out i normally drop my Toyo's down to circa 24/26 cold and then do several warm up laps to allow them to come up to temperature and to the right pressure.

You will need to play with things to get it right, you will know if they are over inflated as you will feel the front left in particular "edging " into Duffas and the hairpin which is what trashes the tyres.

Best thing to do is experiment avoid over inflation at all costs. Remember and pump the tyres back up to "Normal" pressures for the run home once they have had a chance to cool down at the end of the day.

    Regards

  9. Would love to mate was up there yesterday at the Hot Marques, watching only as wee man had a cup game in the morning and it was a 10:00 start

I am doing the Monday to friday office stint just now mate which is a killer, Thursday night would be no good for me...........

Would have been cracking getting the 2 cars on at the same time for a wee play, especially the AP's versus the Brembos and Toyos versus standard tyres just to show you the difference.

Hopefully another time mate, you can't be serious about only taking her on once surely????

    Scotty

  10. From memory start at 24 cold and they should warm up nicely, that was on my Toyo's though...........

I have seen the temps when left standard as high as 48 how they never went pop i will never know.

Edited to say - don't forget and put back to normal before heading home - yip got the t-shirt......... :crying:

  11. Hi Ross,

A couple of tips from experience

1 - Check your oil before having left the car all night - make sure and check it after the trackday - it will be a great indicator as to how much she is using when being pushed and is a good early indicator to any unseen problems.

2 - Sorry Stewartyboy disagree on the tyre front - Buy a tyre monitor and inflator, if you run standard factory PSI's you will find the understeer to be a nightmare on the RB especially when the tyres increase in temperature, you will also trash the edges as they will be over inflated especially the left tyre on KH. Check the tyre temps after 6-8 hot laps and you will see exactly what i mean. Drop them and allow them to come up to temperature with some warm up laps. You will be able to feel the left edge taking a hammering when it is over inflated especially into Duffas dip.

3 - You must do 2 out laps to let everything warm up and at least 2 cool down laps after giving it some - pull out the way and allow quicker cars to pass try and keep the speed up to allow the brakes to cool and use them as little as possible before coming into the pits, leave the car running and if you have defi's fitted let the oil temp get back down below 100

4 - Buy a rubber tyre wedge so that you do not have to put your handbrake on just get a mate to shove it under the wheel so you can leave the car idyling away without the brakes on.

5 - You WILL find the limit of the Brembos if you do enough laps be very aware of pedal fade and if it gets too much call it a day, you have probably cooked the fluid.

Lastly if you can afford it and they are not on back order get a set of Toyo R888's nice and sticky and make a big difference

  12. What charity are we going for?

Since we are looking at a "Scottish" only calendar can i be as bold to suggest that the funds go to a Scottish charity rather than a national one?

Makes sense that the effort and funds stay in Scotland.

Anyone got any specific charities close to their hearts?

I suppose to ensure fairness a poll of charities would be needed as well?

  13. Scotty - yes Cobb is the route i am looking at but only after the guy that deals with them here in the UK has tested the maps out on his UK car to see how they perform.

    Superb!

Yeah i have been looking at all the toys available.

I have been spending far too many hours on www.gt-rr.com

I am really fancying going down the carbon look with front splitter, side skirts and rear wing/rear defuser. Cant believe the prices of the Amuse and Mines stuff - $5690 for a front spoiler! - http://gt-rr.com/gt-r/r35/mines/part/front..._carbon/pid/346

The HKS 570 kits look good as well but having ordered a UK car so as to get a warranty need to be careful not too chuck that away too early in the process.

Really wishing i had gone for a non sat nav car now they are being delivered and all the happy owners are cutting about :laughing4:

At least you will hopefully have tried some things available for the Euro cars, and the manufacturers will have caught up with stuff available, COBB is defo on the shopping list!

  14. Nice one Cal.............would have hated to let you down!!

Hopefully Middlehursts can get a y-pipe for me in time for the 1000 miler, i know Milltek are developing one just now but still in development stage as they are seeing a very slight power drop when it is fitted due to the car running richer.

I know you like your tech stuff Cal so here is the dyno graphs of Litchfields findings on their mule car - (how much torque lowdown!! haha)

    2.jpg

    1.jpg

    Nice!

You not tempted to go down the COBB access Port route Andy?

  15. i had no idea that you could buy the GT-R in the uk yet i thought it was much later in the year b4 i could put my name down for one

    Richie

Speak to Sharon at Alex F Noble the Scottish Authorised and only centre for the GT-R North of the border.

Most of us have had our names down for well over a year or so waiting on the official UK cars coming with our deposits paid. These cars are now starting to get delivered (Jammy sod by the way i cancelled mine for a V Spec and am now re-considering due to the rediculous price they are asking)

If you ask nicely i know there are 2 Black Editions one coloured white and the other black with cancelled orders on a first come first served basis available, i am hoping to secure the white car just waiting on a deal on my own car to be finalised.

  17. Well Scotty first of all thanks for the kind words, i did not do it justice with the first set of pics I agree and tbh you need to see it in the flesh to appreciate it, me and my photography again lol i am all about indivuduality, the wheels are BK Racing with some R888 tyres on them.....

    Rgards

    Chris

Chris if you are ever in the Stirling/Tullibody area let me know i would love to see the motor in the flesh.

Also i am up at Hypertech quite a lot so if you are ever popping in to see Dunc let me know and i will take a run out.

  18. I have been following this thread and must admit my initial view is now changed 180 degrees

The photos on page 1 do not do it justice, i thought at first it was "overdone" BUT the second set of pics on page 2 have completely converted me!

What i love most is how "individual" it is and there is something about white cars just now that really stand out.

I was chuckling at myself looking at the photos trying to work out where the inspiration came from for all the different pieces of the kit etc.

The big step back and raised centre section in the front bumper reminds me of an old Veilside (Sp) kit

The rear lights are very much like the new GT-R (without the 2 smaller lights in between the 2 main rears of course)

The alloys are very AC Schnitzer and are stunning (May even actually be them but my eye sight is p1ss poor and i cant read the centre caps)

The smart thing that makes it look so good is that there are not too many decals spoiling the look and the tasteful window tints at the rear work well with the white paint.

If you saw it coming in your rear view mirror it would have an aggresive stance and those front lights are stunning no other words for it!

Great effort and hats off to the work that has gone into it :D

    Regards

    ScottyB
