I'd be inclined to take the car back to the dealer and get them to explain what the fault codes relate to if you apparently have the right cat. You could have the correct cat but it may not be functioning properly for example or it could be a whole host of other issues with the engine which only the codes will tell you. If it is your cat that is faulty, you can buy good downpipes with 100 cel performance cats which will are emissions compliant but are not absurdly expensive like the prodrive ones. Scooby clinic, Zen et al can help you here.

Do you have a note of the actual fault code(s) which are triggering the CEL?

Cheers Peter, I actually built it myself with some very helpful advice from Steve Whitson. It's an EJ257 with CP pistons and pauter rods sourced from Ron at Raw Performance in the USA. Steve ported the heads and matched the combustion chambers to the larger bores. I'm currently running a Td05 20g which is a great road set up but will probably go down the GT35 route next year funds permitting. That skyline was amazing!!

Shame about the weather but still good to get out on the track! Here's some in car footage from the old wagon. First time on the track with the built 2.5 and she was going like a train! Cheers. Alistair http://www.youtube.com/user/trackhoundtuni...l/0/K3WnHlAIFYk

Hi Peter - just picked up this message. The car is stripped right out at the moment so it doesn't have a passenger seat. Sorry! Cheers. Alistair

Just to let you know there is an excellent small company in fife who can fabricate or modify any kind of pressurised hose from briaided brake lines to oil cooler hoses. I used them to shorten my braided oil cooler lines and they only charged me £15 which is much better than paying £60 for a new set. They are also open on a saturday which is a bonus and they are very helpful. Ever Wondered What 400 Lbft Of Torque Does To A 5 Speed Box?

it was a ty54 box and never launched it but the car is partial to the odd trundle round knockhill as Fai says -

It's a dubbya rather than an STI - both likely to suffer same fate though. Even the later TY54 boxes have a limited lifespan when the power envelope is pushed. -

Sympathies - you might want to turn the wick down on your tune if you're still running a standard 5 speeder. -

No problemo - remember it's the torque not the turbo that fooks the gears. I ran my previous engine which was a 2L at approx 340 lbft and it was fine. -

No worries - I was beginning to think I was lucky after getting away with for 6 months. Gives me a good excuse to but a MD321T to compliment the 6 speeder! -
This is what a forged 2.5 and td05 20g can do to a 5 speed box. This happened in 3rd gear at about 50-60 mph. I'm currently converting the car to a 6 speed box and thought I would dismantle the 5 speeder to assess the damage - 3rd gear is completely gone. It's not just easter eggs that are chocolate!

Cheers - do you know if that includes VAT?

Thanks I'll check it out.

Thanks - I saw that but it's based in New Zealand and the guy wants 3700 euros (almost as much in sterling) which I thought was a trifle expensive once shipping is paid for etc.
-
I was mapping the car today in preparation for tomorrow's trackday at knockhill and managed to completely strip 3rd gear. If anyone is selling, or knows anyone who is selling a PPG or 6 speeder please let me know! Many thanks. Alistair

Thanks Davie - my car is off the road for the winter. I'll drop you a pm early march when it's back on the road and I'll see if the is a convenient time and location to meet up. Cheers Alistair

That's a bummer. I have a silencer plug but it is very restrictive and the car dets badly when I use it under boost due to the increased back pressure. I will need to measure the noise level somehow - does anyone know of any garages in central scotland that have the equipment?
-
I notice that knockhill now have noise regulations on their website http://www.knockhill.com/trackdays/new.php I am going on the March track event and have a rather loud 3inch exhaust. Does anyone know if this applies to just bikes or cars too? Thanks
-
Great to hear of another open source tuner in Scotland! I also have an 01 wrx so if you need any ideas with your maps let me know. I will be at the knockhill track day in march so let me know if you are going as it would be good to hook up and compare stories. Cheers Alistair

Careful with these broad statement chaps. I have been mapping my car with Romraider for 18 months and have flashed my ECU hundreds of times without any problems. I am currently running 390bhp/400lbs torque from my own mapping. It's not a case of being brave or stupid, it is a case of doing your research, learning from others on the Romraider forum and making small incremental adjustments using the appropriate monitoring equipment such as wideband, knocklink etc.
