  1. I was round at S Dubbya earlier and there were some very 'creative' approaches being explored for the mounting of the Saturn 5 rocket nosecone sized air filter. Photos were being taken which will hopefully be posted by the dream team later.
  2. Hi no sadly they are not road legal. I managed to buy my last set for £100 which were part worn but hardly used.
  3. Hi I use Dunlop Tarmac Rally CR311s which are a cut slick and can be purchased in a range of compounds from soft to hard. They are epic tyres and take a real beating. http://www.carlislewheelandtyre.co.uk/dunl...unlop_fia.html#
  4. sounds good to me!
  5. I'm up for meeting at 8 at McDs Chris Alistair
  6. agreed - a real work of art. Hats off to Mr Whitson and Barry's fine welding skills.
  7. 1 bar at c. 2800rpm and 1.8 bar at c. 3300pm (reverse mani has made a big difference to spool up so thanks again for the tip)
  8. Steve - could be but ECU appears to be reporting a crank sensor issue according to midnight. Anyway should you not be working on a certain white car at the moment? BTW - check your email as I have sent you a road dyno plot of the mild mannered shopping car
  9. No worries - I'm free this week in the evenings apart from Thurs so drop me a pm when suits
  10. mmm - chances are it's dodgy then. You are welcome to swap the one from my car to see it it makes a difference. I just live about 5 mins south of gorebridge on the A7. Cheers Alistair
  11. You can't clean the sensor as it operates magnetically and is hermetically sealed. They can be fickle things and be faulty without throwing a code and equally be ok and throw a code. I had a cam sensor on my car keep throwing a code when I took it on the track but from the logs there was nothing wrong with it. How is the car driving?
  12. Barry - I heard that those turbos are just samples and the actual build will have one per cylinder. btw is your car run in yet? Let me know when you need a hand completing the Apexi installation. Cheers Alistair
  13. Interesting - Hey Frank, Chris's old 30/40 would go nicely with a cheekly 2.65
  14. As per Paul if anyone needs any support with mapping their own car using OS I am more than happy to help/chat/share experiences
  15. I have just patched LC onto the rom on my own car (02 wrx) and it works great. Switchable boost and flat foot shifting is also available for certain roms for new age cars via Tinywrex's excellent work for modest fee. Drop me a pm and I can provide further info.
  16. Hi just to clarify that I tune newage ECUs using open source software called 'Romraider' which does not and will not support the read/write of Ecutek protected maps. Thanks Alistair
  17. Thanks and great to hear you are happy with your car. That forged 2.5/20g/FMIC combination with blow through maf is a cracking set up.
  18. Yep - Steve makes beautiful reverse manifold with a custom larger plenum.
  19. It is quite unusal to have a condition like this without a throwing a CEL. Fuel cut is usually triggered by overboost (depending on how it has been mapped) and at worst should result in your ECU switching to limp home made (which is normallly accompanied by a CEL) but should not result in your car becoming incapacitated. The only time I experienced something like this was when I had a faulty crank sensor, which for some reason, did not trigger a CEL but was dysfunctional. It is quite frustrating when this happens as there are no diagnostic codes to guide you. If you do not want to take the car to a dealer I'd suggest: Seeing if a code reader is reporting anything, which it may not if there is not a CEL. Then I'd suggest checking the real basics: 1. is fuel getting to the fuel rail. 2. are you getting a spark If both of the above are positive I'd be inclined to try and rule out if a key sensor is faulty by either swapping them in a sequence with ones from another car (if one is available via a friend) or checking resistances with a mult-meter agsinst the OEM criteria in the workshop manual (i.e. cam, crank, O2, maf) but the latter is a real hassle. Hope this helps. Alistair
  20. If the car has the original oem bolts, rather than aftermarket headstuds, it is possible but it is very fiddly due to the lack of room. I did it once and vowed never to again. For all the hassle you are just as well hoisting the engine out the car. Cheers Alistair
  21. Hi Maxy - If you are still interested in a 16g, I am mapping a car this weekend which has just been upgraded from a 16g to a 20g. I have seen the unit off the car and it is in good condition and the car ran well with it on. Drop me a PM if you are interested and I will let the owner know. I would agree that decatting the up pipe would be a wise move if upgrading the turbo (I recall you already have a decat TBE). However if you are running oem 380cc wrx injectors they will run out of headroom with this turbo and I would recommend upgrading to 550s or having yours professionally modified to increase capacity (Mark at lateral can do this for you) Cheers Alistair
  22. Hi Grant - yes I'm here and happy to answer any questions. Just drop me a PM or give me a buzz 07769683303. All the best. Alistair
  23. Yep you don't realise how much you like your car until you don't have it! You should be ok around the 330/330 mark with your 5 speeder unless the car has a hard paper-round. It's actually the torque that kills them. I managed to dispatch my 5 speeder but was running 401 ftlbs of torque and that was on the 'stronger' TY54 type box! The 6 speeder is holding up well (so far) Cheers Alistair
  24. AVCS and engine size?
  25. a 35R should see you to the 600 bhp mark. If goals are 600 plus you are starting to get into the relms of a the 40R but way too laggy for a road car and would be better with something twin scroll and front mounted. Blouch seem to be doing amazing things with billet wheels and are claiming their latest Dominator 4 is capable of 600bhp and standard location! http://www.blouchturbo.com/turbos/Dom4.0XT-R/
