  1. after thinking about it and looking around, it looks like a magnex one to me
  2. Looks like the RCM one i've got on my classic.. The weldings better on mine though, so it might not be!
  3. had a look on the website, its the "RCM Sports Cat System 5 Door/22B (RCM641)"
  4. It was put on by the last bloke who owned the car, its not straight through though, i think its got hi-flow cats..... Il have a look later for any markings on it all! and yes....it is actually quite loud, didnt realise quite how load it was!
  5. I have a Roger Clark system on my car.... its not too loud, really nice burble on idle but it gets loud when you're giving it some One of my mates just described it as "if you could make a sound thats like power, thats the one" That said, i havnt had the experience of a nur-spec so i cant give a comparison!
  6. looks a lot like a smaller version of the psi3 one...but smaller looks good though....i was looking at a psi3 one but might check these out now...
  7. rang up today, and the line was busy, so left a message, politely asking for a call back to discuss the quote.....that was at about 10 this morning..... they close at 5....and i wasnt called back..... really not very impressed now.....but found out from a friend that the insurance company has to honour a quote once it's made, and that its professional misconduct resulting in a loss of funds from myself after buying the car going on their quote..... Aparrently, (if i get to speak to them again) they have no leg to stand on... Going to try the SIDC insurer tomorrow too, just to see....
  8. the cheapest on there was £2700, when the nfu was £1200. Im not too happy paying more than double the price i was going to pay!
  9. will they insure me though, i doubt it! im only 18! will be becoming a member anyway, just waiting for my wages!
  10. i know exactly how you feel, had the NFU not quoted me the price that they did, i probably wouldnt have bought the car.....i go out, spend the money, only for them to go back on what they say..... Seems to be a total pi55take to me
  11. Well..... rang up to insure my new impreza earlier with NFU, who before today i have been more than happy with....(they insure me for my landrover and clio) The quote they gave last week was £1200, so rang up today and went ahead with it....as usual, was told the stuff was going to be put in the post for me to sign and send back, that phone call was at 12.02 today.... then 2.14 this afternoon came along... "sorry, we cant insure you any more" the poor woman was full of apologies, but still, after a quote, accepting a quote, handing over my card details, thinking i'd paid.... being told i have no insurance!!!!!! Not happy.....i now don't have a car....back on the bike tomorrow! some people have said to go to the ombudsman....good idea?

  13. all it is, is a case of educating all young drivers that it hurts when you crash a car! I had a couple of big offs when i was on the track, and it's not the nicest, and thats when you hit tyres! god only knows what its like to hit a tree, but i dont want to find out!
  14. yeh finding it pretty good actually, its wierd how much of it you end up doing while driving without thinking about it. Its weird for me though because i had a track driving background, so then when i got onto the road i booked my test first time (i drove every day between my birthday and my test - 6weeks). And start slagging me off now (i had a golf gti before, and i got slated big style when i mentioned my age.....)... Im 18, and like Garth W says, i find that around 90% of young people (especially the ones im at college with) drive like maniacs, and seem to think they're invincible.....for example, a kid in my year who thinks he's the dogs b******s bought a C2 furio (yeh, slow as!) on finance.....had it 3 weeks, wrote it off, spinning round a corner into oncoming traffic.....and he was unbelievably lucky to be ok, hes just bought an old fiesta and drives like a tw4t in it. i asked him the other day why he does it, and just how lucky he is to be alive after his crash, to which he replied that he got out of the crash cos hes an amazing driver, and that nothing on the road could ever outperform his amazing skill.... Iv been on racetracks since i was 14, and i realise how dangerous driving on the road is, and i drive unbelievably sensibly. I also realise, even though i'v had experience that most people my age can only wish for, i know im not lewis hamilton, and i dont pretend to be. I sound like a grumpy old man when i say this, but young drivers have absolutely no idea 90% of the time
  15. exactly...im doing the IAM advanced driving course at the moment, and thats what it teaches....driving swiftly, making progress without causing danger to others.... some people just drive like maniacs....normally the people in slow cars thinking they're fast
  16. Agreed...in a way..... I've done a lot of track driving since i was very young, and some of the older drivers think they can drive fast...but really they cant! Got overtaken by a civic type r yesterday, he must have been doing about a hundred....it was a 60limit, but the road was through a rural area.....then when he overtook he looked at me as if to "challenge" my young self to something.......what!!!!! I might be young, but it doesnt mean i drive like an idiot! It really p1sses me off when people say all young drivers are awful etc..... that said, a lot of them are, but not all!
  17. sorry to hijack the thread...but...what happens if i cant find the pin or certificate?! Just bought an 00MY Xreg classic and cant find the pin and cert in the stuff i got with the car.....
  18. Cheers guys Its nice to find a friendly forum! You can expect some really stupid technical stuff from me while im here.... Thanks for the support for the new scooby driver
  19. ahhhh i see where you're coming from!! Yeh i thought the orange under indicator things were a bit naff!! Will sort it asap! got 5 weeks left at college then gone forever so as soon as it hits the summer all will be sorted! driving over to toulouse at the start of july too....should be fun! Want to try and get to the 'ring whilst i'm in europe too....
  20. de-tango??! and its got a roger clarke exhaust on it now! the guy who had it before had it put on...happy times!
  21. im at college (doing my a levels) and just bought a wagon, and leaving in the afternoons, i get all the kids in their 1.1 corsas and saxos, and one particular tw4t in an astra with a bodykit on it, revving at me. then when i see them about and they ask why i dont want to race, i say its a bit immature isnt it really, considering what car you have..... then they say.... wait for it.... "its because my (insert chavwagon) is actually faster than your car isnt it.....its an estate, my (chavwagon again) will have it easy, i bet" to which i just laugh, then they think they have the upper hand! until the other day i offered the one t**t a ride home as he didnt drive in, and its on my way home. It only took until 3rd gear for him to realise, when he quite obviously nearly shat himself at the power. Its like having an excuse for people to hate you! (thats what iv found in my very short time driving mine so far!)
  22. Just bought this..... - 76,000 miles - X reg - piles of service history I got a bargain so im happy (£2700!) Only been owned by oldies too! Engine bay needs a clean but should turn out a peach! Is there anything i need to know about having one?! A mate of mine has one and just says to keep more than up to date on the oil changes.... So anything i need to know, or anyone got some more info on the car etc?! Also, whats the deal with a turbo timer? I know to run the car idling for a minute or so before switching off, but does the turbo timer do any more than just keep the engine running to cool the turbo down? Cheers Jake
