  1. I'm putting it into my '97 sti, as reccomended by Bill Greer, I'm pretty sure he said I just need the block and oil pump, everything else can be taken from my own engine. I'll have to speak to him again as I'm not sure. I saw your car in there Fai what's it in for?
  2. I need to get my hands on a new 2.5 sti block, I know exactly where I can get one from (a Subaru dealer), but I'm not really wantin to pay the prices. So does anyone know anywhere I can get one for a decent price? I saw a group buy going on a while back for them anything like that going on just now? I don't really want a refurbed one I'd rather a new one. Thanks in advance amigo's
  3. I have to admit I have liked the new scoob since I first saw it, still prefer the hawk eye though. I reckon the new one would look much better as a 3 door wi a bit more spoiler action going on

  5. When checking the fault codes, should I be connecting the black ones only or the black and the green? I've read differing info on different sites, gimme the facts people
  6. I cant see anything loose, there is a heatshield over the hot side of the turbo so I cant see whats going on under it, but I gave the rod a wiggle and it felt pretty secure to me?
  7. Cheers, I'll go have a look, then I'll check for any fault codes. The check engine light has never come on btw. And I tried re setting the ecu on someone else' advice, it made no difference.
  8. Circlip? Actuator? Lets 'pretend' for a minute that I'm a thicko, just where might I find these items and what should I be looking for?
  9. Hi folks My car was running just fine until monday of this week. Now it sounds like my dump valve is just pissing air out and I have no boost? I do have boost but just not nearly what it should have, it still goes fast it just doesn't nail you into your seat like it used to. It sounds a little rough too like the exhaust may be leaking as well as the dump valve, the exhaust noise is a lot louder in the car than it used to be. So all in all it sounds like I'm loosing boost on both sides of the turbo. I haven't got a gauge (yet, one is on it's way) so I cant say for sure what the pressure is, what is it supposed to be anyway, it's a '97 JDM STi version 3? Anyhow does this sound like my turbo is dead or could it be something a little simpler, and hopefully cheaper Please help
  10. I had to pay the guy who fitted mine £40 for a motor for the remote central locking. Oh the joys of remote central locking, it's amazing how you dont even think about it until it's gone
  11. I just got a Clifford alarm fitted, give GAP a call, the guy came out to my house and did it all in my driveway It's a good one too it has a turbo timer built in and a dual proximity sensor thing, if anyone gets within a foot of the car it gives off a shriek

I'm with A-Plan, I pay £800 fully comp on a JDM Version 3 STi, I phoned some company who just phone other companies and they call you back with loads of quotes, I spent all day on the phone to randoms and eventually ended up gettin that quote, I had been gettin mostly about double that. And some companies just wont touch an import

  16. Not as far as I'm aware, TBH they seemed to not really give to many hoots, the guy didn't seem to know what was wrong or even where to look, he just said it felt ok to him. I think they might be against the use of imports or sumthin Anyone ever used them before, cause I don't imagine I'll be going back to them
  17. Hi, it was in at S&S today, they changed the plugs and oil and had a quick check at the pipes and stuff. The car feels a lot smoother and pulls all the way up the revs, but it still doesn't feel right, they said they don't know enough about imports to be sure whats wrong. I really dont think it is boosting enough, I dont have a boost gauge so I dont know what kinda boost I'm getting. I can definately hear air leaking at low boost like the wastegate just cant hold anything. The guy did say it may have been overboosting before, so I'm thinking it might have been re-mapped and when the alarm was fitted the ECU has been re-set, is this possible?
  18. I do try my best never to drive like a tit in town, especially not in housing areas, I will admit to accelerating to 30 like I'm in a drag race, but I never go above it! Some people just have no respect. Name and shame!
  19. I tried resetting the ECU, made no difference. It's going into the garage tomorrow, S&S in Ayr. I think the problems have worsened it sounds rough as f**! I do think it sounds exhaust related though which I'm hoping isn't too bad, but I've also noticed that the dump valve is just dumping as soon as the boost comes on, seriously how bad does this sound? I'm a bit worried this is gonna skin me

The only other thing it could be related to is the beasting I gave the car on saturday night racing my mates Pulsar GTi-r, and winning of course, but I drove the car around after that and yesterday and it felt fine, just today it was a slug Oh and I've posted some pics now in the other thread ^_^
  21. I have been using tesco 99 super ul, I'm gonna start using octane booster too though, I just hope I'm not too late
  22. I got me a photobucket account It did have a version 4 front splitter but it was cracked and scuffed so I took it off, I'm gonna get a new one soon, just have to get some money first, I'm broke after buyin the damn thing! Worth it though
  23. No CELs I'll have to wait till tomorrow and have a good look at all the pipes and stuff, I really should know better, I used to be an airplane propulsion technician. You'd think if I can strip down a jet engine and rebuild it then I should at least have some idea what I'm doing with a car engine
