  14. I thought I would add a few thoughts of my own to the debate. Having a degree in climatology perhaps gives me an insight into the way these things are researched and put together but being a couple of decades old gives me no more factual information than anyone else. 25 years ago the real buzzwords were acid rain, deforestation and ecology. I remember reading research paper after research paper on the great sulfurous clouds that were going to envelope the world and kill every living thing if action wasn't taken on pollution. In the general populace/government it has ever been thus... the perceived wisdom is right and anybody who dares question it is a fool. If not actually worse, the current blanket coverage of climate change has more than a hint of appointing "witch finder generals" about it. Any self respecting scientist will have more than a healthy scepticism about this. If you even accept that collected data is consistent, accurate and comparable, it is of such a small quantity in the wider scheme of things that it cannot be statistically significant. Finally I know full well that any weather forecaster will tell you that meteorology and climatology are two different things but ....... computer models that cannot tell you precise weather more than half a day ahead and other computer models predicting the cause of the end of the world and when it is liable to happen ......... it does not compute!
  15. last post 24th November...... dun dun... we require "Post whore man!" over to you Edmondo
  16. Well eff me the South West region said! Where has that old fool appeared from? (I'm talking about me, not you Ed!!!!). Well to tell the truth I have had an epiphany, I had a summer of soul searching and self discovery. I looked deep into my own heart and examined the depths of human nature that can be sunk to. I found within myself desires i never knew i had and such murderous thoughts should be kept away from the righteous. So, lo, yea and verily, i withdrew from all activities involving pleasure and kept a chaste countenance and resolved not to emerge until i had found enlightenment. I HAVE FOUND IT and it says at the entrance to heaven, "enter brother for you doth drive a Subaru and you didn't let the *******s grind you down!" But seriously, i've had an enormous sulk all summer over my cars getting vandalised again (not the scoob), the old bill doing bugger all. And then i got a puppy, little rascal and nearly as much work as having a baby. Anyway, i are back and here he is (for those of you not there Friday)... http://s293.photobucket.com/albums/mm45/stingzor/Polo/
  17. Ahh was good to see some old faces (you know thats you Ed) and some familiar faces too! If you thought i was gone you are sadly mistaken!
  18. Hello all and my thoughts, such as they are. As a person who has spent less time on here over the last few months I know that people like me have not helped. Jaqs and Ed I know how much effort you put in and to a large extent you are never going to please everybody and at times its going to be nobody. The events you have lined up are good but i think a lot of the problem is the size of area you are trying to cover. Swindon to Torquay is approximately the same distance as Glasgow to Aberdeen (if my expensive education in geography wasn't wasted) but the south west has one southwest section in the forums yet in bonny Scotland they have a number of subsections. I think a few more sections in the forum might help activity.. sales, banter section (so enabling the poxy forum limits on the chat thread to be avoided), events section. It might help to make the various events stand out a tad more. On the same note the choice of venue for meets isn't ideal, Swindon being the northeastern most point of the area almost, i suspect even moving it to Chippenham might help. Or even going onto a moving venue for each month. What about not necessarily have the monthly meet on a Friday night? Especially in the winter, last Friday, personally, I was home from work, 5.30, dog walking for an hour, 6.50, scoff down dinner, wash up, change, leave the house 7.30. I arrive at the meet feeling guilty i'm late but i haven't stopped! Do a poll for winter meets, they could even be combined with a quick hour or 2 run out on a Saturday or Sunday with everyone stopping for a sandwich and a cup of tea at the end . Or for me, a meet at 3pm on the Sunday would be so much easier and less fraught to attend. As a thought, instead of trying to do everything yourself, why not try and get some help, maybe appoint an "events coordinator", "newbie support worker" etc etc. I'm thinking someone to bend ears, twist arms etc etc to get people to commit to going or otherwise to events so they can be planned better. Someone to help new members, you know the drill, pm them when they join, hold their hand at their first meet, maybe tell them best people to approach for help depending on the issue and so on. That way you could be free-er (ewwwww) to drum up fresh meat in the first place. Personally i think its down to everyone to help try and kick start (remember that program ED?) the area and i will try and help!
  19. Ooops sorry DC missed this, hope the 50 years of waiting was worth it
  20. Be on my way to Dover for the ferry trip to France then the long drive down to the Pyrenees then Scooby mountain fun!!!
  21. So now then Pez, that is obviously a very nice looking motor. Now as you wont be happy if you cant turn up to a meet moaning about how much you've spent just to keep it on the road without even modding, etc etc (in between crowing about having hair ... even if it is girls hair), i reckon you ought to let me have it and you can borrow it for meets. PM me to arrange delivery.
  22. Nice engine mate. Watch it with ED he'll always say nur spec but tbh it epic fails your "not mega loud" stipulation. Hayward and Scott or Roger Clark Motorsport centre and back section arent too loud but give a decent 10-15 bhp without a remap.
  23. I'm now a possible rather than a definite
  24. Good day to you sir!!!
