About bigvern

  1. I need to see if my Oz wheels will fit over sti brembos so if there's anyone in the Melton/Oakham (or near by) area who has a sti v7 or early v8 (or a set on a classic) I wouldn't mid popping over to see if they'll fit. Cheers Rich
  2. Good figures, what have you done to get to that? Rich
  3. I had some 'flutter' but thats pretty much gone now with a bit of fettling and the roads are real tooth chippers round here. But the benefit at night is well worth it. My 'off-road' bulbs arrived last night so the future is looking bright!
  4. Great minds and all that, fitted mine today...wiring tomorrow
  5. I've just gone from a TSL de-res and Prodrive back box 2.5" system to a 2.75" Milltek and although it looks a bit 'boring' - 4" tail with a slight slash cut, the performance is better and the sound a lot harder than before. But its quiter on tickover, which is good for those 5am starts!!. £280 new on ebay (mine was a swap).
  6. This lot was from Russia apparently. Its not rare for types of dust and pollen to travel from Europe and drop off in the UK.
  7. Did this a few months ago hope it helps: Firstly pry off the silver surround gently with a wide thin flat blade screwdriver. Remove the existing stereo and cage (six bolts) then remove the two piece cage, the multi connection and antennae lead. There is also an earth strap on the rhs cage which I didn't undo for fear of breaking it - I did give it a good few yanks first before chickening out! Now for the pics of the install: I used a single din pocket from halfords (£10 ish) I did try with the stereo at the bottom but it was too tight. Front plate fitted to pocket gets rid of any gaps. original cage fitted directly to chassis of stereo using self tapping screws watch the clearance though - it should tell you on the chassis the maximum length of screw, machine bolts do not have the correct thread. Adaptor lead fitted again about £10 from halfords - if you order the part from them its cheaper than if its off the shelf, ebay is probably cheaper still. Here it is fitted back into the console Finally with the surround fitted. Its not too difficult to do the only fiddly parts are sussing out which brackets to use on the pocket as it doesn't tell you in the instructions:rolleyes: , and don't drop any screw/bolts as you fit or remove the thing as they vanish into the centre console:(
  8. Leicestershire police used to have an unmarked green classic, I've got a green bugeye and it has been asked if it is an ex police car. I wonder if this is why cars tend to move over 'round my way
  9. I've found some old photos which I thought I'd share from when I had my Alfa 155 Most trackdays should be like this But when you decide to do one in December in North Lincolnshire things don't always go to plan... Yes the cones are marking the circuit and the tyres have 2-3mm tread ! So change over to my road tyres... this car's boot was so big you could get a full set of wheels, jack and helmet in! Now I could stay on the circuit but not the poor sods in the Robin Hood Kit Car Lunch break, the shine on the floor is ice not water... Hope you enjoyed the pics!
