On a j its more thn likely the 2L Turbo lump from the calibra, it was a popular mod when i had my gte 16v many moons ago. The fact they can be a***d to keep a j reg in good nick probably tells you its been modded and looked after. Even so a calibra wasnt up to 280bhp, but vauxhalls do tend to be pretty quick, my astra would leave all other cars of that era standing (apart from the 5 gt turbo) and it was only 156bhp (i think, either that or 136bhp) so bhp aint everything!

But should we have to? Petrol is already taxed at 75%, more than any other country. Congestion charging is being introduced to other cities, you have to pay to use a not so congested part of the M6, speeding fines are just another tax. And now road pricing is on the cards. The tax burden of motorists is a joke, the green issue is a joke, India and China pump out mind boggling amounts of co2 yet our tiny, environmentally insignificant island thinks it can save the world by pricing anything above a 1.6 off the road. I take your point, but I earn my money, its already taxed at source so I would quite like to do what i want with the rest. This, it seems, is now impossible. Sorry, rant over.

Thats an expertly wrapped downpipe! Is it the sticky backed stuff or has is just got the retaining wire, iv heard soaking it in water first can help, did you bother doing that? Iv gone up against slower evos - that thing had genuine pace. Lets just say i wont forget it for a while. Normally its civic type r cannon-fodder on that private road and frankly they may as well not bother. But when i layed it on and wasnt gaining and then he started pulling away i thought its to the modding shop double-quick.
