Dont PPG boxes keep your existing 5th gear? What happens if that goes into meltdown, or is 5th pretty much unbreakable. And I think they whine quite a bit, and with your rattling engine rebuild there could be some strange noises coming from your car!

So does it only happen in 5th? 2700 is just when you are starting to boost, but if its that i would have thought you would get it in every gear. My 2003 wrx makes a whooshing noise from about 2000rpm up to when the turbo kicks in, then it seems to disappear. Loads of things can cause a whine, such as wind getting into the cabin and even the tyres.

Do big rubber mats for playgrounds. I used to know someone who worked there, just wondered if it was still going.

I remember that, hadnt noticed it was gone but I only seemed to get it at speed in the outside lane. I get the feeling the new layer they have put down wont last long.

Had a drive around the place the other week (glutton for punishment) and im sorry to report its not bad. There is a load of unspoilt land, loads of fields and even a partial rally track that leads to the harty ferry pub. As i was driving in to maidstone today i noticed the electronic sign type thing that normally has invaluble info such as "warning - fog" when you can hardly see the sign through the fog was displaying a "pothole hotline". Sorry, i didnt get the number as i was going to type into my mobile but realised that is illegal, so i went for the notepad and pen but realised that would be illegal too, I was going to stop but i think the road is a clearway so that would have been illegal too.

Litreage, i like it! The Rx's are all ****els (if that gets past the censor) and work differently. Agree on the big "muscle" cars, totally under engineered just because they think bigger is better. They should give one of their engines to the japanese, get genuine BIG hp then. Mind you, there is that 2000hp mustang on you tube, but it has got a house-sized turbo on it.

Come to think of it were they 1.3? I think it was the rs turbo that was 1.4. What did you do to that sort of power from such a small engine? Run it on kerosene?!

I would be interested to see what response you get from the petrol stations when you ask them to go through hours of cctv footage. My guess would be not good. But its worth a go, I really hope your friend resolves this, its an absolutely horrible situation and she has my sympathy, but the (very) depressing truth is this sort of crime usually DOES pay.
