Anybody Get Hold Of A Brand New Oil Pressure Sensor?
j3rk replied to j3rk's topic in South East England
Right i rechecked coils and no cracks, changed spark plugs to hks ones gapped at 0.7, gave earth point under intercooler a clean and guess what? .............STILL NOT STARTING IN THE MORNING!!! Well im fresh out of ideas, ordered up an oil pressure sensor anyways coz it was 6 quid and would sort the oil light problem out. Pele what colour is that earth wire? Is it the black one? Was your earth broken somewhere along the wire? My connector was burnt due to it so i replaced the connector and used a 5 amp electrical connector block. It works fine now but has got me thinking it could be a fault there somewhere? If it's not that then it could be the crank sensor like your saying daz but i thought that problem only occurred when the car was warm? What about the cam sensor? Would that be a possibility too? Appreciate the help guys. -
Seen a silver bugeye earlier in the evening in gravesend. Was behind me and it was dark so could'nt tell if it was a scoob or not till he turned off. Was a bit late to give him the scooby wave

Anybody Get Hold Of A Brand New Oil Pressure Sensor?
j3rk replied to j3rk's topic in South East England
Right basically, the car is a little hesitant at 2500 revs and is also not starting first thing in the morning till the 2nd or third crank over and when it does it wants to stall and hesitate but seconds later it reaches idle and lowers down normally whilst it's getting warm. Runs fine boosts well but a slight hesitation lumpy kinda thing going on at around 2500. Feel it a little more in 3rd gear. The oil light on startup doesn't show on the instrument panel sometimes either when you crank the car. Sometimes it does. Never comes on when i'm driving. Changed parts. Some second hand, some new but all known working parts. Before it started happening i've fitted the following...coil packs, cooling temp sensor, maf sensor, throttle position sensor, FCD set to 9, apexi air filter, lambda made by walker if that means anything and a toad alarm system fitted by dealer. Done the usual, cleaned the idle control valve, cleaned the boost solenoid (hks), cleaned the pressure sensor, checked all the pipes, rewired fuel pump connector under back seat, cleaned intercooler hoses, cleaned crank shaft sensor, cleaned cam sensor, checked spark plugs which were still nice and clean and only 6 months old and were gapped to 0.7 if thats right? Fuel pump isn't that old either and it's a 255 with pressure in the tank so no loss there. Got no water or oil leaks and it has just passed its mot!!! Taken it to a couple of places. Extreme told me to take the car up after explaining it's a cold start problem then basically said they need the car overnight when i was there. Seeing as i wasn't in a position to be able to leave it there i left with the usual answers you hear...could be your maf, could be your sensor, could be your spark plugs but wont be able to tell until we start it in the morning. Whilst i was there though they did a check on the diagnostics and things were reading fine. Slight overfuelling only. Then straight afterwards i took it to kai performance, left it overnight and the following morning they rang up and said theres a fault code on it directing to the throttle position sensor which i already knew about and had nothing to do with the cold start problem. So it had basically cost me money to find out what i already knew. Replaced throttle position sensor...no fault codes at all! It's still doing it as i checked today, starting on 2nd or 3rd crank and feeling slightly lumpy in 3rd gear and the only thing i can think of is the oil pressure one under the alternator. That's what a few people have pointed out too but i'm no mechanic so i wouldn't know if that is the cause? Might explain the oil light on the dash maybe? Low pressure somehow? I'm totally stumped now and dunno what to do. Seems like i've been getting these problems since the cold weather started. How can i tell if the earth is corroded? I gave the point a clean with a wire brush and sprayed wd40 on it. -

Yeah thats the one mate. Wait till you go in there and see what they do. You'll be totally astounded. Ask for gary. He will take you through it all and show you the ropes. Ask to see previous work done and i guarantee you won't be dissapointed. -
Yeah i think the cold weather and rain is messing up my sensors all over the place and is running slightly lumpy at around 2500 revs. I tried ringing deano first but no answer.

ARBS sorted. Took me 2 hours Dunno how dazzler does it lol he said 20 mins. corners like a scalextric car now. The car dont wanna start first thing in the morning. After two or three cranks it goes. Replaced cooling switch, coil packs, lambda, spark plugs were clean, cleaned ICV and fitted new air filter but still doin it. checked codes on it which showed up the MAF and throttle sensor but they must have only come up because i had unhooked them and taken them off to look, other wise no fault codes. Gonna take it up to extremes in the morning

They are good but when i had my bonnet fully resprayed by them on the beemer, the colour was'nt quite the same as the wings and i was assured it was blown in and blended which it clearly wasn't. But this was a few years ago mind you. I know a place in marden called united colours. If your fussy like me then take it to them and be prepared to be amazed at what they do. There is a website for them too. They are in the yellow pages -
I am starting to have a love and hate thing going for my sccob recently and its becoming more of a hate thing. Gonna take the car to extreme scoobies to get them to check it out. Just wanted to ask you guys if anybody has dealt with them before and do they know their beans on the ol scoobs?

Spotted a nice silver classic at the top of blubell hill at the roundabout. Been there a few evenings around half 3. Got a lovely bumper kit on it, silver wheels. Bumper looks like a veilside one!
-
Hopefully nothing major then just a little belt squeak is all from oil on belt
-
You didn't happen to spill any oil on the pulleys or belts did you? Checked yor water level?
-
could be pulleys or belt? might just need tightening up?

Right, i've had a rethink today. Spoke to a few experts who own the same year and they say the same thing about the drop links and bushes. Have been told i'm better off replacing the lot with uprated stuff. Old standard stuff in need of replacing so may as well uprate it. Wish i could be uprated at times lol. Anyways have had a quote for £359 for a set of eibach anti bars front and rear with bushes and alloy whiteline drop links for the front and rear. Any good? Had a quick look underneath her earlier too and it doesn't look like a difficult job so i'm gonna do it myself. Sound reasonable? Just hope it cures the creaking and knockin sounds. Same sound my knees make everytime the scoob costs me dough! If no success...Deano ill be givin ya a shout matey

Ok i don't know if any of you guys can point me in the right direction but i could do with a mechanic who can do a little work for me who can deal with a problem im having. After doing a little research i've come to the conclusion that my roll bar bushes are in need of replacing front and back. I say the front because if i go over speed bumps i get a creaking sound. It's not very loud and when i turn right it creaks also. On the back i get a kind of knocking sound if i go over any kind of pothole or uneven road. Like if the back wheel is bouncing in the chamber. Do you guys know anybody who may be able to do the work for me? I know some of you guys are quite mechanically minded and i'm still learning but not sure how to do this job myself. Although i've had to learn a lot in the 6 months of ownership of my 93 wrx i don't think i'm going to be able to do this one myself. If there is anybody out there who would like to do this for me for some cash please let me know. Thanks guys.

Trying To Eliminate A Slight Hesitation At 2500 Revs
j3rk replied to j3rk's topic in South East England
Cheers guys. much appreciate the advice. Turned out was the lambda. Replaced it and all is well. Even passed the MOT with a full decat after fitting!!! Sparks were clean as anything. Had been changed about 5 months ago so still nice and clean and were gapped correctly. Cheers again fellas. -

Right ive opened up the sensor. Seized it was. Proper nightmare to undo. Used a jack and stilsons to rotate it. The sensor itself is black at the headers and the connector is corroded. Anybody got a spare lambda they wanna get rid of for a price? My MOT is on the 12th and im gonna need one. -

Apexi power intake and HKS FCD. Apexi i fitted myself but the FCD was put in yesterday but it was still doing it even without the FCD. I bet its those poxy coilpacks! Daz ive no idea how to check the sparks mate otherwise i would
