  1. Hi Guys, I had a look at the type r they have in stock, that one was a bit rough, but having never dealt with them I don't know what they would be like to deal with. Cheers Gary
  2. It was an R, not a P1, just loads of grinding from the back end - not sure what it was. To be honest the wife has claimed the BMW so rep mobile or not she likes it. If you seen it in the flesh though you would agree it's not quite your standard 4 door 3 series. Cheers Gary
  3. Auto, not my 1st choice - but the rest made up for it. Cheers Gary
  4. Hi John, Cheers fella, was gutted not to get a Scoob, but after being let down twice on Tuesday I was at the end of my tether, and to be fair I needed a car quickly. I think I have the done alright for the money, it had a total respray in July, a new engine at 75,000 miles, and has a full BMW service history. The guy I bought it from was gutted to see it go as he seemed to be as daft on his BMW as we are on our flat fours. Jen seems to have claimed the keys to it and I think I'm banished to the Discovery - could be worse I suppose!!! She even bought a private plate for it today - so 80's I told her!!!! Look out for the G4 JBO in your mirrors soon Catch ya fella. Gary
  5. I used to drive an 04 330cd M-Sport and loved it, it was the longest i had ever kept a car and could not fualt it - so if the Scoob was off the list, it was the obvious replacement. Cheers Gary
  6. Hi All, A huge thanks to everyone who tried to find me a car, after 3 hard months I came to the conclusion on Tuesday night that what i was looking for did not exist, with that I booked 3 appointments today to see 3 private cars. This is what I came back with, not a Scoob - but a wee bit different!!! Great looks Great MPG Great Insurance Great Tax Decent Performace BMW 330SE with a few choice goodies Still no Scoob - but just maybe need to wait until the next change for that treat. Thanks again Gary
  7. Hi Gav, Your point, although could be true, would be the same costs that would have been incurred when anyone would have bought the car. So when he does eventually sell the car there will be no costs to pay out. I have looked at the OFT website and it looks as if the rules are on my side. Cheers Gary
  8. Cheers Gordon, I have just e-mailed them to see what they say. Will give them 5 working days to reply then get the OFT involved if required. Cheers for the advice. Gary
  9. Hi Rich, I thought the diff to start with, but with that it would probably have made more noise when turning, this was on the straights. Pain in the ass whatever it was. I thought to myself if I bought either car it would always be playing on my mind that something was wrong. Think I have already given up bud, maybe need to look at another marque slighly newer and less fun for now me thinks!!! Cheers Gary
  10. Hi Fella, Just sounded like a grinding noise, maybe brakes, could have been suspension rubbing, possibility of a duff rear diff. No idea really - just wasn't right. Maybe I was wrong and it should sould like that - but after 10 years of driving Scoobs I have never heard two like that before. Not sure for what I am willing to pay for a classic, that what I want exists - may need to look at something else. Was so looking forward to driving a boxer again. Cheers Gary
  11. To be honest fella I was at the end of my tether with them, I may seek some advice - but will probably just put it down to a learning curve. The guy made up this excuse that he could have sold it for the full price a few times over - which was b******s as he has had it advertised for ages with no buyers, even after I put the deposit down he still had it as available on his website. Cheers Gary
  12. I fecking give up!!! Heres my day; 7am - alarm 9:30am - Train to Bradford 1:30pm - Arrive at garage 1:40pm - Test drive car 1:45pm - Hear funny noise from back of said car 1:55pm - Say I don't want it and want a refund of deposit 1:55pm - 2:15pm - argue the toss and end up losing my £350 deposit as he says there is nothing wrong with the car - NO HAPPY!!! 2:30pm - Phone wife feckin fizzin 2:45pm - Phone other garage that had a cracking looking Type R WRC V Limited advertised for just over my budget. 3:30pm - Finally get through to the guy and have to waste a couple of hours until he can get to the garage to let me see the car 5:30pm - Get train to said garage 6:15pm - Get picked up from train station to go to garage 6:30pm - Arrive at garage to view 6:40pm - Test drive the car to find it has the same rough as feck noise coming from the back end 6:50pm - Get dropped back off at the train station to try and find out how the hell to get back to Edinburgh 7:10pm - Board train to Leeds, then onto Edinburgh 11:26pm - Arrive in Edinburgh - picked up by a no very happy trouble and strife 12:15am - Arrive back home Cost of day Train down - £36.50 Lunch - £4.90 Hunners oh coffees to pass the time - £8.00 Lost Deposit £350 Haribos, McCoys and A Ginsters Pastie as I was miffed - £5.90 Train back £78 Grand total - £483.30 Achieved - Feck all!!!!!
  13. Hi All, Picking up the Type R on Tuesday - at last I hear you say!!!! Just wondered if any of you knew who the best was for multi car insurance quotes? My wife who is 30 and myself (38) will be the only drivers and the cars are the Type R and an 05 Discovery, I have full no claims, she has been driving a company car since year dot. Admiral quoted £1,054 - they must have thought we were both 21 - I wish!!! Anyway if you could point us in the right direction it would be much appreciated. Many thanks Gary & Jen
  14. Hi Mark, Gutted for you fella, I saw the car and under the hood when you detailed my Discovery, a work of art it was and I can only imagine how f**ked off you must feel. I really hope you get it sorted and the little toss pays up for the cash between what you will get on the insurance and what you will need to pay for another near that standard. Keep the chin up buddy, just think of the fun you had putting white lighting together - you can do it all again - but even better this time - if that's possible!!!!! Hope to see you soon again bud. PS Getting my new Type R this week so I may need to book your services again for a wee detail. Gary
  15. Hi Fella, I suppose 320-340 will feel a tad more than my old newage that had 340 because of the weight, really looking forward to the old DCCD as my 04 didn't have it. What do you reckon cost wise for the mods you suggested there? Cheers Gary
  16. Hi all, I would hope that the new Scoob will be in my hands by then - mind you it it the DVLA I am dealing with!!!! I will be coming up for a we gander, won't have done any mods apart from cosmetic before I come so will not be taking part - I will however be asking hunners oh questions on what I should do to get the old horses rising. Estimated 300ish just now - would so like a wee 4 at the start at some point in the not too distant future. PS - WTF is all this about TEAM SUBARU - Call it the SWRT - sure it's going spare just now!!!! Cheers Gary
  17. Believe me fella the number of people who have ad's up for cars who never get back to you is unreal. I must have called, text or e-mailed about 30 with no peplies. Whenever you need a hand bud - you know where I am. Gonna get some pics of the car up when I pick it up, not sure if it will be this weekend or nexr week sometime - down to the old DVLA unfortunately!!! Cheers fella Gary
  18. Jan will not be too long in coming round fella, I would rate Jap Performance in Bradford, tell them what you're after and they will find something good for you. The V5 Type R I am geeting looks mint with a few nice extras on top of the norm. I just hope you don't take as long as me to find what you're looking for - hence the reason i say start looking now!!! I will keep an look out for ya fella and see what we can come up with - I must have seen every classic for sale in the UK in the last 4 months!!! Cheers Gary
  19. Pink?????? I think you will find it's lilac fella!!!! Imagine me running round with Pink wheels - what poo-nan I would look!!! I think I like the lilac wheels better bud - certainly different. Not good with the heart transplant - you gonna get another? Cheers Gary
  20. Cheers fella, I think I like the lilac example better. Not sure it picks up the green that well on the wheels in the photo, may look better in the flesh. Any thoughts anyone??? Gary
  21. Hi Fella, You know me, just like to be a wee bit different, how's your car? I hear you had a wee bit of a problem! Cheers Gary
  22. Now that does look the mutts nuts, now I know this may seem a bit cheeky, but any chance of trying it with the wheels and bottom stpipe the same colour as the bottom of the thistle - the brighter green???? Pretty Pretty please????
  23. Getting the photo chop guru on the job this evening, trying to make a statement with the colour scheme, hoping he can get the wheels the same as the top lilac strip, and the other option of the wheels being the same as the bottom of the thistle, a bright lilac - or a bright green - Welsho may have competition for his Orange 18"s. If he can also get the green strip the same as the botton of the Thistle this will be a bonus!!! Cheers Gary
  24. Got the back window of my blobeye replaced when I has a wee accident with the WRC spoiler - no probs at all with them. Cheers Gary
  25. Looking good fella, as you know - wheels make a massive differecne to a car - especially a Scoob. Cheers Gary
