  2. After reading about a similar problem in Inverness i thought i would post up this one too

    Attempted abduction

I know it was last week but still relevant!

Police are appealing for information following an attempted abduction on a 12-year-old girl in Carnwath on Friday 14 May 2010.

Around 1630 hours on Friday 14 May 2010, the girl was walking along Main Street, Carnwath near to A70 Edinburgh Road when she noticed a small, white van parked on the same side of the road but facing in the opposite direction.

As she drew closer to the van, a man got out of the vehicle and whilst walking towards her, pulled a woolly hat / balaclava down over his face and approached her.

The man grabbed the girl’s arm and attempted to drag her into the vehicle. She managed to get away from him by kicking at him and shouting for help. He then got back into the vehicle and drove off.

    Description of suspect

    The man is described as:

    white

    around 20 years old

approximately 5’9” in height with a slim build

wearing a pale blue, sleeveless top and navy blue tracksuit bottoms which were tucked into tan coloured rigger boots and had holes at the knees. He was also wearing a black woolly hat or balaclava and smelt strongly of oil.

    Appeal for information

    Detective Inspector Paul Swinburne of Lanark CID said today;

“It’s vital that we trace this man as soon as possible. His attempt to drag the girl into his van was made in broad daylight on a relatively busy road.

“I feel certain that due to the time and the location, several people would have seen either him or the vehicle and I would ask them to come forward to assist with our enquiry, no matter how trivial they believe their information to be.

Mod hat on: no smart comment or slagging people off, ok.

  3. This is just one part of much wider and existing campaign aimed mainly at motorcycles. It would apear that (in our area anyhoo) that while they make up 2% of the motoring population they accounted for 26% of fatalities here last year. Regardless of personal opinion of scamera vans and the like I would imagine most motorists would prefer to at least reach their desination and any attempt to reduce deaths can't be all bad. That said anyone not driving like a tw4t shouldn't even notice this 'crackdown' :hello:

Oh i agree, i would rather reach my destination safely 100% every time.

I don't believe camera vans make a bit of difference unless your sitting on 9 points already, i prefer the little digital signs at the start of most town/villages showing your speed, smile if you are under 30/40 speed.

A friendly warning is far superior than a sp30

    As always be safe first

  4. Please be careful folks:

Police forces across Scotland are carrying out a crackdown on dangerous driving and speeding on rural roads.

    Police speed check

The campaign coincides with this weekend's North West 200 race in Northern Ireland.

Thousands of motorcyclists are expected on the roads of south west Scotland as they travel to and from the ferry port at Stranraer.

I am sure it's all to do with road safety & nothing whatsoever to do with £££ revenue.

As if we done pay enough!

Maybe they should target garden centre grandads that forget how to drive past 25 mph after leaving the bloody places forcing normal motorists to overtake dangerously through frustration :hello:

  5. starting to consider it as a practical car, the diesel run arounds due for replacement and this would fit the bill nicely - IF i could live with the running costs

has yours got the recaro's? and whats the difference with the 330s?

the blob will never leave me as its taken too long to get it how i want it

Remember the Diesel will look like the wrx so without flared arches. massive torque though

No recaro seat, sat-nav, push button start, keyless ignition & the PPP the 330s all have.

Saying that i didnt want those recaro seat, sat-nav, push button start, keyless ignition & the PPP so quids in, i prefer my own additions.

The versatility of the hatch is fantastic, i have a minted car that's quite fast and bags of room to boot [pun]

  7. finally il admit the hatches are winning me over, following the highland fling with both Del and Glyns hatches keeping up and Dels apocalyptic soundtrack theyre maybe, possibly, almost not quite as bad as theyve been painted....

god that hurt, off for a whisky....

and Del we still havent heard the results from your remap.....:rotfl:

''Keeping up'' lol a few times i was waving Dale outa the way because that bloody slow blue car up front was slowing me down........ well that and the stone chips

I only have 327 BHP :hello: and i aint finished with it yet not by a long shot ;)

Glad you have finally seen the light big stuff, hatches ARE the way forward!

    So when you getting one?

  8. To the subaru rubberneckers who drove past, took photographs and didnt offer any help, shame on you.
