Well I dont actually count here as I lost my baby quite some time ago but I have now decided to give up on trying to get a replacement. Nothing I saw was ever going to be the same without some serious investment so now turning to bikes and doing my DAS in May...
-
speaking to Sut W about importing one now as cant find anything decent in UK....
-
Yup - thats what is worrying me plus seems to be an MOT failure so will need sorted yet Smiles has told me noone has been able to find problem so far...agh!!
-
Its the car I am looking at - fair play to the guy for being honest and telling me about it up front but its a bit of a worry esp as would be driving 500 miles home if I was to take it...
-
Would have to check but from what he has said is is just permanently on
-
apparently it has been checked previously and has been like that for some time which makes me wonder how the fek it got its MOT... ######, just when I thought I was getting somewhere
-
Or is it..... £6500 + flight to Southampton and a fekn long drive home lol Need to have a wee thinksee this weekend!
-
Apparenly the handbrake light also comes on occasionally bu goes out when you start to drive like a loose connection or something. The ABS light has always been on and despite going to have it plugged in and checked no fault code is evident and no one seems to know why the hell it is lit up. Considering my last experience with brakes resulted in the demise of my car....
-
Is this a serious problem? The ABS light is lit permanently although the ABS still works! any idea what might be causing it or what it would take to fix? Cheers

Ahwell - Smiles has told me they are going to hang onto the wagon for now unless someone offers him £7250 so thats out... Not heard anything from that garage in Bradford which aint a good sign and just been in touch with the last post above tho dont really want a saloon it is low mileage and cheaper than the Blue WRX...
-
Lol - taking my time is certainly one thing I am good at.... as the umpteen posts over the last few months will show. The scoobybits wagon I am wary about as the mileage is supposed to be 30K but he is telling me it is only showing 15K after some muckup... and I dont know him from adam.. The others on Pistonheads I have looked at couple tho most are bit high on the mileage... oh balls... do I really need a wagon... http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/274960.htm

Yeah - adv dont mention any of that stuff so have mailed them asking for full spec as curious what the module on the side of the drivers well is and there does not appear to be a rear tail light. No mention of MOT or TAX either, still waiting reply tho.. (still also waiting to hear from Smiles aswell, think I have bored him to tears aswell)

Aggh (bet I ain the only one saying that when this thread came back to top) Whats the cons of the bugeyes apart from the looks, wondering about Pauls as its a much newer car (altho with mileage a bit high) Also found a 98 V4 STI for 5K somewhere in Bradford http://www.haycliffecars.autoweb1.co.uk/de...mp;cdID=1358679
-
I have been thinking about it but I really like classics and am after something with uprated performance AND suspension - hence the STI Wagon idea....
-
I took mines off, well ratther Hypertech did. Was part of map so hard to tell what difference really was but certainly sounded a lot better as could hear the air being sucked in more than you could the turbo wine!
-
oh I dunno, about 5.5K + 1/4 of the cost of any mods I would hazard a guess at...... not bitter honest! seems to be quite a split in oppinion here - I reckon 6.5 is probably fare but lets see how it goes
-
lol - it is certainly rare alright.. think it may look quite good with some dark grey wheels on it. Have PMd him (again) to see what how low he will come to try and reach something middle of the road. I offered 6.5 but he didnt really respond to that so not holding my breath.

Have sent a nice letter to the compliance manager asking for another assessment which actually reflects the true condition of the car. Think the problem is that the cars been sitting in the yard for 2 months and is manky and the crash damage is now rusting up which is perhaps why they thought it was and old banger well give them benefit of doubt at mo... Back to subject in hand - need to try and work out cheapest way to get to Southampton (flybe) and how much petrol it is gonna cost to drive back up and factor that into how much I can offer Smiles. Also paintwork is gonna cost approx £300 and it needs spots or lamps put on it as those black covers are hideous. Set of 17" would also be on the shopping list and wonder how DRBs wheels would look on it
-
Beat me to it - thats who I went to but was able to get a lift back into Edinburgh What about hypertech? They will drop you of at the trainstation and come back to get you if you ask nice!
-
yup - twas indeed a silver classic aswell... Lets have a competition to see who has the wost luck to cheer us all up lol

Defo interested and sounds like the rebuild could be a nice platform for some serious mods (see his post on the thread further down where he goes into a bit more detail). Only thing is the rest of the car aint been rebuilt and is still a 8 yr old car with 70K on it Have been in touch with him to see if we cant get something more respectable agreed as he wants too much and I want it to be too cheap hehe.... This is pretty much my only alternative to importing a car with Stewart which in itself is very tempting and in theory for a little more I could have a simmilar age car but with low low mileage in tip top condition if the rest of the cars he brings over is anything to go by. Suppose it is all down to how long I can go without the car and if the cost of importing, mapping & upgrading outweighs the advantage of the clean car. decisions decisions... Alan Ps. have letter from insurance company telling me my car had multiple scratches, soiled interior and old accident damage to the front wing.... popycock!
-
where-as it may have ben cheeky I honestly think I am saving several months of ads with nothing but time wasters being interested v's me being genuainly interested in it for that price. Bearing in mind the 70K miles and paintwork I reckon that 6K+paint repair and decent fogs/covers is about right.... Here' hoping anyway....alternative is import but with 2 month lead time on that and being a bog standard car I am also a bit wary abt that option....
-
http://bbs.scoobynet.com/private-sale-cars...nd-rebuild.html I personally think it is too damn expensive at the moment (£7250), rebuild or not. And moreover am really thinking to hold out and get an import from Stewart. However problem is I really could do with a car sooner rather than later and the rebuild and upgrades done to this wagon would save me haveing to do much for the time being where as an import is going to require a remap at the very least. That and the run around I was hoping to use in the timebeing gave up the ghost last night, on the first drive What do you guys think would be a fair offer? PM me if you would rather not post up. I offered him the £6K I got from the insurance as I think thats not too bad but dont think it went down too well lol
-
My car is near Stirling... but wisnae me as its in the salvage yard so aint going too fast on the back a tractor
-
Cheers guys - been looking at a v4 with a new front lip which aint as bad but as you say the area around the indicators and the crystal head lights are two things I dislike. As is the plastic looking steering wheel. As for the remap - wondering if an Apexi wouldnt be better anyway as could get rid of the MAF? (I have been told anyway) Suppose it will come down to what is available on the auctions, would be silly to ignore a gleaming V4 @ the right price just for a few cosmetics.. though the turbo I was not aware of but had read midrange response is better in the v5 which may be down to that. Who knows, could even hold out for a v6 lol
