  2. Hi guys looking for advice on the type of doors fitted to the STI, mines a version 1 and someone has reversed into the side damaging both drivers and rear passenger. The garages are saying that its new skins or doors and im not sure are they steel or alloy on the STI? The bonnet and the boot are definately alloy, any advise please Steve
  3. Hi All Im gonna change the head gaskets on the car... with the Cometic ones.. theres a few thickness?? 1.3mm and 1.6mm, anyone know what a standard thickness is? and would going to slightly thinner be a problem, I.E. raising the Comp ratio? or tolerances Thanks Steve
  4. Been outside with my torch, checked the block and its got the HASH markings by the alternator belt.......
  5. Whats the Best Head Gaskets to use, Upgrade to steel ones or use the Cosmic ones that seem to be popular for uprated motors? I know the last owner skimmed the heads so would I go for thicker to compensate?
  6. No not yet... it was chipped by last owner, but to be honest dont know what he exactly did, have receipts for engine works, heads and rebuild, when i phoned up the engine specialist that did the work he wouldnt speak to me... saying that the previous owner still owed him money... typical
  7. Forgot to say.... ive added a FMIC so could this be the problem.... ie. more stress on the gaskets.. then?
  8. Nice one... i will look for markings etc... My motor is losing water and im convinced its though the h/gaskets, so i might have to open up anyway. it runs fine, has plenty of go, temp is normal.... so its a strange one.
  9. Hi Everyone, This subject must of come up a million times, so sorry for the repeating it..... I have a ST version 1 (1994) with the Engine code DW2PE is it a closed deck or open one? Some info points to it being closed on a number of sites, but without opening it up who knows. Have anyone with a STI Ver1 or 2, opened up the engine and what type was it.? There seems to be so many conflicting info about the Hydraulic adjusters etc on the motors also. Any info would be good,, cheers Steve
  10. s555cub Mines an WRX-STI Version 1... 1994, Has the bigger filter `crossland` its a good make anyway, and shes running on fully sythetic Steve
  11. Hello... Having sucessfully installed a new water pump and timing belt myself.. saving some £££££s, i found the Rad cracked and this week the steering seems to be up the creak. Help.. Its very stiff in a straight line and only turns with a bit of force.. Is it the pump thats gone or the rack itself? Ive done the obviuos checked the oil fluid and the belt is ok. Any ideas on this one... thanks Steve
  12. Hey Stu.. Has yours got the split rims?? Im on 17" Silver Rims. Also are you ABS or Non ABS, nearly totalled mine at xmas.. The brakes at the back are C**p but im upgrading them to type `R` discs and two pots soon. Also has yours got the larger oil filter (mine has) was a right pain to cross ref at the time. Im just intreged to know how many variants there are of the Ver1/2 as i thought they were not classed as an actual model until ver 3. Cheers Steve
  13. If you change the headers... apart from being a right pain to do.. as the up pipe bolts are underneath the downpipe (one turbo bolts re-thread later) the note is different from the usual `heart beat` of the scooby. But after all that is does go better..
  14. Hi... Mines Not...its a bigger type... Ive tried the small type and the threads did not fit. Mines one that fits a Izzuzu Jeep or similar, Dont know why, but had problems matching up when i came to my first service. If you have the same problem.. let me know as ive written down the part number for future ref
  15. Hi Nick.... I bought mine from Grade A Subaru Breakers... @ £350 + I will be putting the ones ive got on the car this month.. hopefully Cheers Steve
  16. I dont know mate.... I assume the Sensor is on the hub for ABS, mines a STI Ver 1 with No ABS .... so the brakes are a bit of a handful sometimes... Saying that i had a 1992 WRX with standard brakes and ABS and those were worse at the time...
  17. Hi... Ive got some type R` 300mm Rear discs and rear twin pots to go on mine and i was told by the breakers i needed the hubs as well to do the job The front has already been upgraded to 4 pots..... thankfully as i have no ABS, and i needed spacers 5-6mm to get the 17" wheels to clear the calipers (just)
  18. Has anyone done there own cambelt change, any info would be good.... ive done a couple of 205/mi16s but this looks a different ball game with the quad cams?? Thanks

Also i seem to have a Water pump leak... great joys , anyone changed one..... im gonna do the belt as well whilst its in bits.. Thanks Steve
