  1. Going through some paperwork that came with my recent purchase, there is invoices for owners who were in Peterculter and Dumfries so has anyone from either of these twa places owned a '99 mica blue uk turbo. Nothing sinister just interested to hear anything that was done to it or went wrong with it. Col
  2. Replying to my own post, never mind....no further cels. Today is the first chance I've had to give her a good look over, all the foibles coming back to me ...the fookin boot is drenced,o/s rear light was holding water in the bulb holder, and the jack dookit is wet too. The nearside light cluster is fine so I'm not sure where the water in the jack dookit is coming from ??? The bug has bitten bad though,I can see me selling one of my bikes for an RA(classic obviously )come the summer!
  3. Good start ...literally...check engine light, went off after a 1/2 mile but the car sounded rough, turned her off then she started up fine. Remind me,I aint got time to poke about the noo,obd2 compliant or p1ssing about with wee silly connectors '99 uk turbo ??? cheers,Col
  4. Yeehaa,no long hame fi Dumfries...its had a good work oot let me tel ye.Nice and tight feeling, goes well makes all the right noises, feels like someone has given me my right arm back Shit loads of p/work,timing belt done 17k ago,an odd noise or two, probably a heat shield, but one sounds like the windscreen is blowing !! right behind the dash binicle, starts at about 80...one of the wipers has a big feck off wind deflector thing don't know if its that,or maybe a missing gromit or the like. I'll see in daylight how bad the rusty rear arches are,new about them before I bought it,luckily they aren't rotted through. Still on its original clutch I think, its a pretty damn high biting point, wheels need a tidy up,but for what i paid I'm happy enough.
  5. Ive had Subarus for 13 years,6 in total the last one I sold a couple of months ago...forester ukturbo all the rest have been import imprezas. When the Fozzie rolled out my drive I thought that would be the last Subaru I'd have 2 freakin months on and I hadni replaced said forester with anything, looked at plenty but just couldni commit to anything, until the night when I bought a bog standard classic uk turbo'99 vintage Seen it advertised the other day, nice and un modified(45 year old ye ken apparently i now huv to be sensible).I've been in denial for a few days but tonight I bought the damn thing, should pick her up tomorrow night.......canni feckin wait to sink my ar$e into that bucket again Not many ponies I know but its probably just the start....all over again. Colin I know a few on here from years ago probably,I see G the B is aw high and mighty noo

  7. Ta for sorting Mod .
  8. AGHHH !!!! dont ye just luv predictive smart phones Which Impreza as a donor for front cat ?
  9. I have 2001 facelift forester S turbo with a gubbed front cat, do the new age wrx's of the same year share the same cat ?, as in straight swap? I'm half heartidly trying to punt the forester ( quite a hard thing to do), it's MOT is up in Feb so id better start thinking about getting her sorted, the std cat that's on her is virtually straight through now Colin
  10. Yeah Mate connecting the green plugs doesn't do jack to the boost solenoid on the newage...I fecked about for changing solenoids etc thinking the first one was gubbed

  12. feck me,my old preza still going
  13. Na Gus,its still a quick ish motor comparing to n/a cars, obviously its not running how it should with a duff oxy/lambda sensor. How does yours feel coming on boost...is it a defo shove in the kidneys or what?
  14. £290 and thats fi the local motor factors ! keep my eye on ebay i think for a few weeks at least. Are the front and rear sensors the same ?
  15. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=130313191338 basic but does as it says on the tin
  16. my reader picked up the 1131 code(obd11) Front oxygen sensor circuit malfunction (short circuit) is it just(wallet twitches) a replacement needed or is there a possibility of a wiring fault....with the mention of short circuit ta,Colin
  17. are these any good? http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/part...htext%3ECAR.htm
  18. Having only had impreza's before I'm too sure how much of a kick in the kidneys you can expect from the turbo'd forester....only had mine a week (2001,104 k on it full history),I can hear the turbo whistle between 2600-3000 rpm then not much after,it is reasonably quick for a lardy thing but doesn't feel like a turbo charged motor. I connected the two green plugs under the steering column to run the test cycle for boost solenoid check(cel blinks quickly),the cooling fans switch on and off various other clicks around the engine bay but the boost solenoid does nothing,I'm sure when I've done it on previous impreza's it used to pulse ?.There is 12v going to it,any other ways to check it's ok. Back to the under dash connectors,i have 2 greens,1 black and one clear....the black and clear are totally different, they are all on the same wee loom....can't see another black which they're should be eh? I have a cel showing,Gus gave me a few tips to try and clear it but no worki, previous owner says its been on for over a year(yikes) and has been read by non subaru reader, says it shows no faults but needs to be subaru equipment to clear it. Posted this on main forum to...sorry mods... but free today so looking for quick answers/advice Colin
