  1. I'm with admiral. 51 wrx no mods 8 years no claims. Just a whisker under or over £400. Its on a multicar policy with my everyday runabout an R plate 1.2 fiesta It was £300 cos I had to start with no no-claims bonus. Give them a try I couldn't beat their price. Sometimes I think they just generate random numbers. One comparison site gave me prices ranging from £600 to £3000.
  2. This is the part I'm after except my car is 51 wrx turbo. Looks like it is one entire piece not 2 sides and a front. Maybe I'm wrong. This is the part Anyway can't find anywhere in UK selling these may have to call subaru 2moro.
  3. Sorry not got a picture just noticed it when I was under the car. It's just a flat piece about 3-4 inches wide and about 3 foot long it is bolted on the floor of the car. Will try and get a picture of the bit when I'm out 2moro. Car is 51 wrx turbo.
  4. What do you call the parts (would appear to be part of the subframe) there is one either side of the car and run from just behind the front wheels up to the front of the car. One of mine has a hole in it and just want to know what the part is refered to and if possible where is the best place to get them. Thanks in advance for your time
  5. Hi I've got an ELM327. I got it off e-bay. I'm sure it was only about £50 came with loads of software and took less than 5 minutes to install onto my laptop. I've used it a couple of times and read a couple of owners on this site with it, one just a few weeks ago. Here's a link for the one I got seems cheaper than it was a year ago less than £40 delivered. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Car-Code-Error-Reade...%3A1%7C294%3A50 Hope this helps. Mike
  6. Hi Robert, I've got the software on my laptop and OBD reader. I live in Dunfermline if you send me a PM I'll give you my address and check it for you. It only takes a couple of minutes. Michael.
  7. When you say backup what is your backup? Have you tried system restore? Uninstall the software and run system restore. Any more info would help. Was it antivirus software etc.
  8. Sorry for the delay I've been away for a day with my work and just remembered I've sent software to your email. If you can't get it to work let me know and I'll try and help you out. Failing that if you can get the car to Dunfermline or thereabouts I'll do it for you. Best of luck. Mike.
  9. Hi I've got software that will read the code if your mate has obd2 PC device. I have got the software for my ELM327 device, that I could get to you. They are pretty small applications. I used mine to read my code. It took about 5 mins to install software onto laptop and less than than a couple of minutes to read my code and clear it from the history. Let me know if you want it.
  10. Thanks for the advice guys going to order one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Car-Fault-Error-Code...1QQcmdZViewItem Will let you know how I get on. Garage were going to charge to read error code and then re-charge me to reset after I had carried out repair if I had done so on my own rather than let them fix it. So unit should pay for itself and I'll have the kit for future problems. Plus I don't fancy driving the car 40 miles to the garage when I don't know whats wrong. Thanks again Mike
  11. Thanks for the advice. I've got 2 options take it to either Cupar or Falkirk both roughly the same distance or buy OBDII cable around £45 and check it myself on laptop. Has anyone ever used these cables and software. I'm electronic test engineer and it all seems fairly straightforward plus I'll have the kit for any future problems (Don't intend ever buying anything other than a Subaru again). Again any further comments would be useful. Thanks again Mike
  12. Engine light came on today. Car seems to run fine but obviously something is wrong. I live in Dunfermline and car is 51 WRX Turbo. Did flash once or twice last month for about 20 seconds but went off only seemed to happen when accelerating from 2-3K in 4th gear. Obviously dont want to drive the car too far so any recomendations on where to take it for the best advice at the right price would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Mike.
  13. I live just over from you in xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Have 51 WRX Turbo SL. Wanted a fast classic but wife wouldn't let me.
  14. Hi Nick I'm also fairly new to the forums. Only bought my first subaru in July. Always promised myself I'd own one by the time I was Thirty. I live in Dunfermline but don't recognise the area. If the guys pretty fair and genuinely wants to sell the car then ask if he'll take it for MOT with you at your cost. That way you know what its going to need done and will get an estimate of the cost at the same time. What have you got to lose, you waste the cost of the MOT but save a fortune buying a money pit. Also if its not too bad and the price is right get it sorted and an MOT'd scooby is yours. Also cost of repairs and what the seller wants combined can give a rough guide of its value compare that like Boris said with similar on autotrader and you'll know if it'sa good deal or not. Mike
  15. Hi this is my first post. I had to have tracker fitted to mine or insurer wouldn't insure me for theft. I also heard some bad reports about RAC and it was nearly £450 to have it installed at my local car security garage. Instead got in touch with a guy at CATA who recommended the SmarTrack protector+. They have install engineers nationwide and came to my work in Glenrothes and fitted the system for £290. Its £120 a year for the service or £320 ish for the lifetime that you own the vehicle so you'll need to keep the motor for 3 years to get your moneys worth. I can get you the number of the guy I used they fitted the system before I even sent the cheque can't say fairer than that.
