As a newer member of the SIDC and Kent Scoobies I do fined myself saddened at the thought of losing Shiralee from our number. She's always managed to bring along her own light hearted air and a touch of glamour.
Sometimes Shiralee we would all have a laugh, at your expense, but you never took offense and laughed along.
But I for one would like you to reconsider your position and make your views known, to help the club.
I know that you have made a lot of friends in Kent and the car show world and will get to see you around.
Some of the points you raised need to be addressed, one of them being the issue of people being WELCOMED.
This has always be an issue which Pele has always tried to address and she still is. As far as I know she hasn't left Kent Scoobies and has attended most of the meets. I for one would like to see Pele as the official club WELCOMER because she is so Good at it. She should have a bright Orange jacket with "Kent Welcomer" on the back.
As for members falling away. The only member, I know to leave, because he was tied of the in house chat, was Marky, who can be seen around at most of the Rally events. The club has had natural loses because people have sold their cars. Yogi can still be seen at meets and always turns up at a TUNNEL RUN.
So I think the impression you portrayed is a little misguiding. In fact the BHP show, on the 4th May has 30 people coming from all over and Kent will be flying the Sails and pitching the Gazebo.
Kent Scoobies does, like all clubs, have a hard core of members who do things, and these members have a wiliness and wanting to see the club expand and develop. This doesn't mean that every one has to take on a task as many like to just turn up and then go home which is fine.
But lets not knock those that are wanting to build a future for the club.
So lets all encourage each other and put a little bit in to make Kent Scoobies GREAT.
It's always nice to be praised for the good things we do but bad things take time to mend.
Just the ramblings of a GRUMPY OLD MAN. who drives a scoobie, some times fast but mostly slow.
