About torquecars

  1. A lot of mods are pure snake oil in my opinion, you need to ignore what it says on the box and get to the real facts about them. Why do people still believe that Induction kits add loads of power? This only applies if there is a restriction in the airbox and most standard airboxes flow very well indeed. BIG ASS exhausts also stuff the exhaust flow rate. I'd like to see people getting into real mods, rebore, cryo treating, balancing and blueprinting, porting, polishing and valve work, big turbos, uprated injectors and remaps. These are where the real power lies. There are some great guides out there like this one and this one plus people should really search and read up the older threads on these forums and they will learn a lot, theres a hell of a lot of experience posted on SIDC.
  2. He's either got skills or is very lucky. As he technically lost it in the first place I'd go with lucky!
  3. Did you feel the quake at all? It's funny how just a few streets were affected so badly in Folkestone although my insurance broker says he had quite a few claims in about it.
  4. If you are not sure what double declutching is read this article:- http://www.torquecars.com/articles/double-de-clutching.php Do you do this? Is it worth learning to do in your opinion? Are there any other quick gear change methods that you use. Personally I try to do this on downshifts all the time so it becomes second nature to me on the track and at first it is quite hard and seems to take forever but now there is not much difference in gear change times.
  5. Theres some interesting usernames on here - I was just wondering if there was any stories behind them.
  6. Thought of adding a screamer pipe as well (for "off road" use only?) Read this for info on screamer pipes.
  7. So I've arrived in CrAzY TOwN - me thinks I'm going to like it here.
  8. Just thought I'd drop in and say hi to all the other Kent Scoobie owners out there. (Looking for a 2005-2006 Impreza at the moment to replace my Audi T-Sport.) I think the Scoobies have one of the nicest engine sounds around and I've heard a fair few engines in my time. So where are you all from in Kent and what are the best/worst points about owning an Impreza?
  9. Are there any weakspots on later Scoobies 2005 onwards? I'm guessing that most of the fuel starvation on bends and other problems have been sorted out. Just really want to know if there is anything I need to look out for when buying.
