  1. Hmnn.. Not sure if it's another view of the above video (not quite I dont think but possibly similar setup) BMW Z4 and RB320: http://www.evo.co.uk/videos/trackdayvideos...track_2007.html
  2. Fortunately the IAM only takes you up to the national speed limit! 1mph over and it's a fail! 4-5mph under when it's safe to go faster is a fail! Total respect to you mate! Aye, I've got a cousin who's into his bikes and speakin to him has made me more aware. If you look out for bikes and the riders see that you have seen them early you can tell they really appreciate it! I get plenty nice friendly waves from bikers in acknowledgement that I've spotted them approaching. Really makes my day to see driver/rider appreciation like that. Beat's having the young chavs in yer boot shakin their fist as your holding them up at 60mph in a scooby...[] . o O (Or even 30 and in a 30 zone which seems to happen daily with me)
  3. Yeah.. My bruv's got an RB320 and he is seriously considering getting a set of blobeye rear lights to replace the hawkeye ones..
  4. Woah! that's sounds neat Mr Kid! [] The IAM is a step below the full police training, I'd love to do the police training but it's not available to general public [:'(] The IAM doesn't do skid pan stuff or evasive manovers, your local group may present them to you but certainly nothing practical. We can get a discount on skid pan day's through the local IAM group though. Sadly the commentary is a strong part of the IAM test these days but it's really not that difficult when you get into it. You feel like a pratt to start off with. But again the commentary is no where near as detailed as what cusco kid had to so for the police training!. Interestingly the IAM test itself is done by a police driving examiner which is always good fun!! Good to get speaking with these guys/gals after the test! Been tempted to re-take the test now that 4 years have passed and I've got he scooby, fortunately because i'm already a member I cant loose my membership if I fail a voluntary re-test.. Well that's unless you crash the car or something silly! Remember you will have a police examiner in the passenger seat []
  5. Yep Did the course with my local group (moray) in 2003 in my ol Volvo 440.. Promised myself I'd do the test before I ever bought a scooby! Well worth it! I'm saving about £100/year on insurance with elephant just because i am a member! Dont have a silly IAM badge on my car (no offence to other members) but I have got the local IAM group website address plastered across the rear window of my car in the hope that young boy racers read it as they try and drive into my bumper! [] I'm not an IAM observer at the moment but the IAM are trying to put together a Young Drivers network, basically a younger version of the IAM to attract young drivers and as a result I keep getting pestered to become an official observer. (I'll give in eventually) But I am pretty close to my local group. If you've got any questions about the IAM course/test or whatever feel free to ask! And yeah, it REALLY makes a difference to your driving, dont expect to drive faster but DO expect to drive much safer! and smoother! Speed will come naturally *coughs* No matter how good a driver you think you are the IAM just show your your not that good after all! Most common comments I get are "Wow you driving is very smooth" obviously passengers not expecting that from a Scooby but more importantly I get lots of comments about how I seem to react so much earlier and safer to what is on the road.. I've never had to do an emergency stop in the scooby and there's a damn good reason for that!! Well worth it! [Y]
  6. Aye got it sorted! Was just as simple as a ECU reset.. Code was somethign about emissions outwith threshhold or something. But after the reset it's never come backl... BTW - if you have any problems I've got diagnostic software on the laptop and can even disable the sensor if it becomes problematic in the future (hell I can even remap ECU's [6]) P.s. Have you decided what Backbox your going for yet? I swapped my WRsport out for a proper Prodrive PPP one last week quieter at low RPM not as burbly but really nice rocket style Whoosh! after 4,000rpm []
  7. Yep it was set-up. An that's no standard M3 I believe it's a BMW M-power touring car. And yeah all those slidy bits were just showing off for the camera really just showing that not all impreza's are understeery sods of things.
  8. Maybe I wont bother trying. The handling was the best thing about the early CMRally series but latest edtions have become more and more arcady with as you say artificial brakes and cars steering on a center pivot rather than the front wheels. DIRT looks really good but sadly the arcade boys have one ... again.. *sigh* Gimme CMRally 2.0 anyday!!
  9. Hmnn... I've not heard of such a thing, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist! [^o)]
  10. Didn't buy it but downloaded the demo and same problem. The system is pretty beefy Athlon 64x2, 2GB RaM e.t.c but the gfx card is crap and I'll be damned if I'm paying £200+ for a new one just to play the game [:'(] But then I'm open to peoples suggestion of a budget AGP card that will happily run it [8-|]
  11. Only way I can really see of doing this is making sure you have a good clean flat surface on the splitter and try and get some Carbon Fibre look, vinyl and apply it. From memory carbon fibre vinyl costs around £10/m and it doesn't always look like carbon fibre, some look better than others though. Ask a local signwriting company if they have a sample you can get a look at.
  12. I hear the P2 was on show today! I'm too far away for these events [:'(] but got a text from my bro who was there today!
  13. Yep there is going to be one last special edition but it's based on the WRX not STi called the GB270. Special editon consists of both a saloon and wagon version. Looks good but a bit pricey though! clicky I too am disappointed to see so many RB320's for sale.. Did a search on autotrader and at the moment there are a total of 16 for sale. 3 of which are private sales. Many are asking around RRP but a few of them asking less, so it's not moneymaking anymore! I haven't heard about too many faults with them, there is the odd blip with a few but nothing. I'm surprised about so many for sale. Perhaps they should have only made 200 of them so they properly sold out. The RB320 is a fantastic car and worth the RRP IMHO. My bro has one and he took me out for a spin in it a couple weeks back and WoW! It's difficult to see how you can get a faster car!! The thing just doesn't want to let go, even in the wet! The suspension is simply spot on and pulls really well in all gears! Gawd knows why some owners modify them further!! UK roads simply cant take that much abuse! If I could afford one I'd have one in a second!... . o O (Maybe that's the problem....[^o)])
  14. Dont mean to cut in on ScoobyIan's pro advice [] Since looking after the car properly I've never had too much trouble protecting the body against bird carp (front end stone chips on the other hand [:@]) I'm using Blackfire wax on my car just now, usually try and give it 2 coats top up every month or two. Any bird poo that comes along seems to wipe off without a mark by using quik detailer ASAP. When I bought the car it was a litte more difficult to remove and only really came out after using a claybar and polish, but since using the wax to seal and protect the finish, it's been much easier to keep it up to scratch. Before the Blackfire I used some of the Collonite 915 you mentioned after someone recommended it to me. Really easy to apply (Perhaps blackfire is a little easier) Gives a really good protection, haven't seen any proper reports but claims to last much longer than most and is considered a "proper" wax as opposed to the synthetic type that makes up the blackfire. However, you dont get the same gloss/shinyness that the blackfire provides.. Don't get me wrong the shine is good nice deep colour but the blackfire is a step above it for the WoW! factor. I was considering using the collonite as a "Winter Wax" for longer/harder protection but I'll see how well the blackfire holds up against the winter weather this year.
  15. the HT Autos splitter is a bargain and it does match the blobeye/hawkeye splitter really well. But on the bugeye it gives the car a big chin! The hawkeye was designed to have a splitter the lines on the bumper make it ideal! Anyhoo, here's a quick photoshop of it in black with colour matching side skirts :
  16. Woohoo! After 2hrs on and off managed to complete it!! Something silly like 3,500 moves or soemthing [:|] Agreed.. Just found out about this a couple of weeks ago, simple but technical and seriously addictive!! Excellent multiplayer gaming!!
  17. Thanks for the mixed comments... Just what I was looking for!. (no really it was what I expected) I'm not "that" bothered about the various damage that it may incur. I'm not in the habit of driving over kerbs e.t.c and as long as it goes up the local multi storey I'll be happy [] So on that note I reckon I'll try slinging it on again. Still stuck between whether to put it back or colour coded. My feeling at the moment is to have it black. Mainly because the style is similar to the "official" splitter on the blobeye/hawkeye and they tend to be left black. And then finish it off with a central located "Prodrive" sticker.. The red does look smart, makes it look really low and more like a Touring car / street racer. But with that it also starts to appear boy-racer ish which is not something I'm fond of doing. Definitely need to see once I get the side-skirts done, that'll probably give a different impression (Also got a UK300 style prodrive wing to go on the rear end at some point once I get it colour changed)
  18. Well the side skirts are getting painted to match the red in the near future so I'll maybe take a another few photos when I get that done. It's not permanently fixed on there, it was just loosely bolted on for the purpose of taking a couple photos. The driver side edge is just hanging which is why it doesn't look balanced with the passenger side. It was fitted as black a couple months ago and certainly felt like it did the job! Seemed to turn in nicely, dont think it was all in my head.. In fact it worked so well that Just using thise plastic plugs through the 11 or 13 bumper holes to keep it on isn't enough! Never thought it would produce that much downforce force!! Will have to try a big splodge of silicone sealant to give it a more secure fixing if it goes back on again. It was producing enough downforce at 60-70mph that it ripped itself off while overtaking a transit van! EEP![:|] (Ended up in 3 parts at that point) Ideally a removable one would be nice that you can just clip on/off when needed but that's not going to happen. There is the strong chance of dirt track driving up to forrest rally stages and the low splitter will definately get caught somewhere along the line. Other option is to try a proper prodrive splitter which I don't think sits so low but still has a good effect on the car. But they are pretty pricey, unless I find one from a breakers somewhere.. Maybe I should just start saving my pennies again, would prefer a proper Prodrive one anyway..
  19. Yep, that's pretty much my own thoughts too...
  20. Hey guys/gals, Need some feedback on whether or not to put a colour matching front splitter on my bugeye. The splitter did make a brief appearance dressed in satin black some months ago on a local meet but soon flew off in style [:$] (I think I'll need some blue-peter style double sided sticky tape next time [:|]) Anyhoo, the splitter has been put back into one piece and had a colour change. Got a single coat of Red Mica on it just to get an idea of how it looks. The opinion polls are open... Yay! [Y] or Nae! [N] Mostly worried about the car looking a little to "chav" / "ned" like... Oh and the active danger of multi-story car parks e.t.c. P.s. I'll be getting the side skirts colour matched in the near future too before there are any comments about that.. Ok, first off, here's how the front end looks just now without the splitter: And here's the splitter:
  21. yeah cool, send over a link and I'll have a looksee...
  22. If that's close to the STi it's certainly an improvement over the WRX models. Nice aggressive front again [Y] But, Those triangle fog light zones are indeed too focus-like and I'm not a fan of that huge wheel arch flowing into the bumper, Too much like a chaved up bodykit IMHO.
  23. I'm so jealous!! Went to the fintry hill climb a few months ago with a cousin of mine and ever since then we've been on the lookut for good Pug205 (or maybe 106) to make into a hillclimb/sprint car! Looks like you got a beauty there! Nice one! and with trailer which is always a bonus! Good Luck with it mate! I'm sure you'll have loads of fun! [Y][Y][Y]
  24. I'm guessing that's the price installed the film on its own is actualyl fairly cheap probaly about £20 for the size for two front windows.. may try apply some myself. I've put reflective film onto company windows before and it's the same sort of stuff just clear and stronger! Although not reccomended incase you are in an accident I've enabled the setting on my standard WRX alarm to automatically lock the doors when the ingition is switched on and then auto unlock when the ignition is switched off again. Can help against the simplest of car-jackers who try and gain entry without a hammer or cro-bar. Ideally suited if you have valuables in the rear like your kids, laptop, camera e.t.c if you in a traffic jam it can take just 2 seconds for someone to open the back door, swipe what's on the seat and run off.. All done before you can even undo your seatbelt!! think of that! Tinted windows help reduce people being able to see in teh back which is one deterrant, lockign doors is another! But for car jacking you need somethign more advanced like the secuirity film, or backjax (or you own personal security guard with baseball bat in the boot!) Evasive driving also works but you need to react fast and sharp to get away! Well done Alan! Anyone for a group buy on anti-jacking devices? [] For anyone who is not aware of the blackjax system that clifford do basically everytime you get in the car you need to press a series of buttons on the car basic pin code system which will be located next to where the fog-light switch is. So start engine press your secret combo of buttons and drive off. Inconvenient if you are looking for a quick jump in and drive solutions, especually if using as a taxi, every time a door is opened it needs to be disarmed, but here's teh key! If thecode is not entered and you just jump in the car, start engine and drive off. about 30seconds > 1 min later the car cuts power and shuts down and the alarm sounds.. forcing the hi-jacker to vacate the vehicle quicky, leaving you to follow the sound of the alarm, get inside the car and disable the alarm and re-enter your PIN and drive home or more likely local police station. Would have been ideal in the above situation where as lng as they were after the car and not you just get out and hand over hte keys and let them take it.. When you get out of the car I.e. open the door, the ant-jacking system enabled and if you dont enter the code within 30seconds the system will arm without any warning the h0jacker will drive off abou 1/2 mile away before tey know what's happened! Great system! Doesn't save from vandalism sadly...
  25. That's freightening! I was considering getting an anti jacking system fitted to my car a few months ago even though I'm probably not living in a high risk area but to be honest this sort of thing can happen anywhere and after reading that I'm definitely going to start looking into it again. I believe Clifford now have a blackjax system (or whatever it was called) that can be fitted separately form their alarm/immobiliser systems. For interest sake since I was forced to remove the front side tints on my car was also considering looking at armourguard security film for the front just for added security so anyone using a hammer or such like to smash the glass will have a tough time!! P.s. Jeez! talk about giving Impreza drivers a bad name!!
