  1. hi, quick up date. cab don't want to know, i bought the car and the warranty has run out. adviced me to seek legal advice. trading standards are following the case, but agian seek legal advice. solicitor's advice was, give the car back and ask for my deposit back and some form of comp for the ppp then i would be in the same position as i was when i bought it in febuary. less the monthly payments because i have had use of the car. (i should have parked it up and refused to drive it) then i would have stood a lot better chance in court. with his advice, and an offer from the finance company of £5881.33 i have excepted this offer. if i take this to court and lose, i'll end up with (if i'm lucky)£2000 deposit, no car, a flea in my ear from the judge and legal expences for both party's if i take it to cout and win, i'll end up with what i thought i was buying in febuary. i'm going to put up the rest of the money and have it repaired cut my losses and enjoy the car Thanks guy's mark
  2. hi tim, the gear box should fit. the only thing i would, and you should be checking is the front diff ratio against yours. they may well be different, if they are you will need the rear diff to go with it. i have seen a thread on here somewhere about the rear shaft's being different at a certain age, so do be carefull. at least it's a recon box and shouldn't be try it and see if it's any good. just my opinion though cheers mark
  3. cheers guy's thanks the voices i have seen a solicitor who is prepairing a letter for the finance company, he seems to think if it goes to court a judge might think i'm being unreasonable in asking for a full refund because iv'e had the car 10 months. i can't be held responsable for the finance company taking over six months before making an offer, can i ? plus when i bought the car, the documents were sometime in coming 3 months for the green slip off of the v5 and four months after many many phone calls and e-mails to the dealers for the mot, which never arrived. i rang dvla to be told the car hasn't had an mot, it should have been mot'ed in december 2006. i feel they have sold the car to me not only with no mot, but also took over six months before being able to come to an offer. i think i should get a full refund or they should replace the car, i would even except this one repaired. am i being unresonable ? cheers mark
  4. hi i have already contacted the previous owner, thats how i found out it had been hit three times . i also know who done the repairs and when they were done, i have also spoke to them and they said i wasn't the owner at the time of the repairs, i thought there was/is three years warranty on all repairs, they said not as soon as it changes hands it's gone. if there was anything wrong with the car it went to the subaru dealer only, the company that repaired the car was at one stage this said subaru dealer, but have changed hands but i don't know when. i was i know way informed of any accident repairs to the car. i did take a fellow scooby owner with me who has had two scooby's, and iv'e had three myself. i think they knew where to make it look right when they repaired it, just been digging deeper when iv'e only done 3.5k miles and three tyres are scuffed off,i defo don't drive it that hard. the car was hpi checked and come back clear, but that's even worse not on the register and still classed as a right off at present. cheers mark
  5. hi and thanks, the screen price was £10775.00 so it was cheap, but it had 129500 miles on the clock. the car wasn't mint condition, very clean inside odd mark's here and there on the out side. i have been in touch with CAB and they said i bought the car and the warrenty from the dealer has expierd there is nothing thay can or could do. also be in touch with trading standards who have been helpfull with advice, i have to talk to hp company to get sorted or take them to court. then the hp company have to take dealer to court. it has been for two quotes with only £400 in differance between the two, both very good body shops.i can't help but feel for hp company myself. the car had come from a subaru dealer, straight to the dealer i had bought it off i don't know if the dealer i bought it off new anything about the history or not, but the work was done through if not by the subaru garage for previous owner. the £3000 they are offering is off the price and keep the car so i would still end up with the car needing the repairs. i would like a replacement car or this one repaired, am i being unreasonable after all it has taken the hp company over six months to make the offer they made. should i name all partys? cheers mark
  6. thanks carl, i'm in somerset, no £ to put i right i had to have hp to buy it, lol. cheers mark
  7. hi karl, i bought the car in febuary 2007, first thing i noticed was the paint coming off around the n/s passangers door handle (both quotes say the handle was replaced when the paint was wet). so i phoned the dealer and they said i only had standard 1 month warrenty, which had expired.and now they have either changed there name or gone down the pan. cheers mark
  8. hi alan, it's mainly n/s/r panel going rusty on the joints and not welded on properly, boot floor is still bent and never got replaced first time iv'e been told from both quotes the boot floor has done it's job and should have been replaced. and it's eating three of the tyres, i had four wheel alignment checked at subaru and it's within tolerances so the car must be still bent somewhere. plus alot of other things picked out like boot catch holes elongated nearly three times the size they should be,and lots of other things. i have a 4 page (a4)quote from subaru in front of me. cheers mark
  9. hi, i purchased a 2003 (53) sti from an independant dealer on hire purchase. it has come to light the car has been hit three times in the past, with very poor repairs. i took it to my local subaru dealer and the quote to make good is £6283.54 holy smoke. i got the car in febuary and noticed thing adrift in may and contacted the hire purchase company they came back to me yesterday with an offer. the offer was they take the car back and cancel the agreement and no money back, they said it was like a hire charge over £4000 pounds hire charge is it just me or is there something not right here. anyway i refused the offer and they rang me back half a hour later with another offer to knock off £3000 of the agreement, they said they were going a losser at that. the credit charges are all but that how can they be going a losser. i do not know what to do now any help would be great.
  10. hello all, i have bought a elmscan 5 usb lead and software for my car my 03 (53plate) sti. will save a trip to the stealer opps dealer if i get a mil light, and i can keep resetting for persistant faults at no extra cost. just wondered what people thought about posting there location, who have similar equipment for resetting check lights for fellow members when they have a mil light on. as i am more than happy to offer the use of it on site for no charge. don't shot me if its already been done but i couldn't find anything on a search! mark
