  1. Dale, Thank you for answers, it's a shame it has taken so long to get any sort of response from anybody. Firstly it was not a miscomunication on Karyns part, she has an email from committee so I think to poor comunication is on your side! So in deciding you would take on the membership sec. position did you ever actually bother to think about the person who has been doing it for 6 years and wanted to continue? Or did her feelings just not matter in your eyes? The locking of the thread is just totally out of order, no need for it, you or Glyn could have responded earlier and the thread would have just died a natural death, instead it was locked out which I admit really got my goat!! As for the phone, whoever takes it over will soon find that you get members phoning all sorts of stupid times, believe me we have had call at midnight on a Sunday night before now!! Had either of you bothered to email Karyn first and make her aware when you were going to phone, she would have answered it! Trying to find the request for her number in a random thread is possibly not the best place to ask, do we not do PM's or email anymore? Anyway, I'm sure you are well aware of our feelings at the moment towards the SIDC. Please understand how Karyn is feeling and try to be a little more understanding of exactly what you have taken from her!! Time to put this to bed now! Email Karyn and sort the change over ASAP! Dave
  2. In response, I resent being, amoungst others, acused of silly in-fighting! My post just asked 2 pertinent questions, 1) Why was the vote not calculated as advised by the previous committee ie split 3 ways! 2) What was the need for Dale and Glyn having put themselves up for nomination for Regional Organiser Co-ordinator and Club Secretary, which would have given them each a position on the committee, why contest a third position that was already filled by Karyn as Membership Secretary. I aalso went on to attempt to resolve the 'them and us' issue that was raising its ugly head for no reason!! I am not an old skool 'hardcore' who is scrutinizing everything the new committee does, I was mearly looking for answers to genuine issues I had with the vote. Andy, I thank you for your vote for Karyn and you are quite right in what you say about Robert's position, he is in a no win situation, but I just wish he, or maybe Glyn or Dale had honestly answered our issues before locking the thread, I think they are legitimate questions which deserved an open and honest answer! Dave
  3. Locked threads!!! Is this how the new committee is going to run the club then? In the recent post "Farewell to you all from SHESCOOBY" I made some very valid points of issue with the recent voting and instead of any of the committee coming back with sensible explanations, instead the new chairman locks the thread!!!! Since when do the committe decide when a thread has gone on long enough? Maybe their silence says it all!!!
  4. Dale, I believe when you actually get into this roll as Membership Secretary you will understand the reason why Karyn has allready previously explained to you that spliting the job and allowing her to continue with the shop is totally inpractical. The whole roll of shop admin along with membership, is all rolled into one! Just trying to split between yourself and Glyn will be a mission in itself! As for your offer that you would have been happy for her to remain on the committee, in all honesty would you remain after being pushed out after 6 years comittment?? I doubt many would!! The followiing is a post that has been put in the members area in response to another thread but it seemed only right to include it in this thread too. I don't believe for one minute that the vote was rigged, I'm sure it was all above board and official. What I have issue with is:- 1) The 2 against 1 vote! Karyn was clearly told that the vote would be split 3 ways! This was not brought up further during the voting period (as one member commented) as she had already been advised by the committee that this was how the voting would be allocated. It wasn't!!! 2 I have no problem with Scotland wanting a good share of committee positions, as said, you have an incredible following up there, so why not! What I do have a problem with is that Glyn and Dale put themselves up for nomination for Regional Organiser Co-ordinator and Club Secretary which would have given them each a position on the committee, so why contest a third position that was already filled by Karyn as Membership Secretary. She was happy to continue in this role and had made that very clear from the start. We now have a major issue of moving the vast amount of stationary, computer, printers, franking machine etc from Cornwall to Scotland. So far nobody has even bothered to contact her about it. Memberships are stacking up guys!! 3)A number of members are complaining about the 'them and us' situation - I still believe the logistics of running the SIDC as a North and South area with their own sub-committee's would improve to overall attendance at national events by committee members. We all know that the likes of Japfest and such are unlikely to be attended by committee members from the North, in the same way as the South won't drive to any northern events!! We all know how expensive Subaru's are to run so this is far too impractical. After all why was the Scottish Scoobie supporters set up in the first place and why did they pay a little more for membership? To be a voice in Scotland and be financially slightly independent whilst still flying the SIDC flag! (Sadly I'm not sure the extra money ever really got where it was due) So for Scottish members to start ranting about the 'them and us' situation is a little silly since they actually instigated a division in the first place!! I know we all have different views on things and I'm sure you all have your own views on the way this new committee was formed. It's done, it's over, we must move on for the good of the SIDC. Karyn is very hurt, angry and upset to have been effectivly 'Sacked' from the SIDC but comments from certain members like "no need for the negativity everyone had a chance to sound off...as Lord Sugar would say your fired don't take it to heart." well that kind of response doesn't really help, how would any of you really feel to be sacked!! Dave
  5. I'm guessing that you are inferring that the previous committee members didn't attend any events in the North of Scotland so the new Committee are also not going to attend any events in the south!! So Karyn was correct in saying, No more SIDC attendance at major events like Japfest and Rallyday!! It kind of makes me think we should have had a North and South section to the SIDC running compleatly seperatly!! Not to create a them and us situation as I have nothing at all against Scotland (before anyone acusses me of it) just because of the shear distances involved!! You guys cannot be expected to drive down here for all the Southern events as we could not drive up there for the Northern events. With the large following you have up North, and the large proportion of committee positions you now hold it is sadly always going to create a 'them and us' situation. I really wonder how we got to this stage without trying to split the club and making a north and south region work independently of each other. After all did many from Scotland attend the Scooby Ball, of course not, it's too bladdy far!!! So simple, Scotland runs their Ball, England run theirs!! I'm sure somebody has suggested this before, my opinion is that for the future of the club, it should have been made to work!! But that's just my opinion! Lets hope the future is bright for the SIDC!!
  6. Everybody did indeed have the same chance to vote and yes Glyn and Dale did get the majority vote but out of the 56% that voted for them, you could say 28% voted for Glyn, 28% voted for Dale and 43% voted for Karyn!! All is not equal in this vote!! Anyway, it changes nothing, Glyn and Dale have been awarded the victory so congratulations to them both where ever they are! You would have thought they'd have been on here tonight of all nights though!
  7. What can you mean?? It can never be a them and us argument, there's none of 'us' left!!! lol
  8. Don't worry hun, we still love you!!! By the way, the "Office boy" resigns as of now!!! lol Dave
  9. This is my understanding of the law from the Dept of Transport SVA (Single vehicle Approval) manual. All cars have to comply before they can be registered for the road. Exhausts can be hand made so long as when they are tested they comply with the following test. Copy from an SVA manual Place the microphone:- • at the height of the exhaust outlet, or a height of 200mm, whichever is the higher • at an angle of 45° to the exhaust outlet in the direction which gives the greatest possible distance between it and the vehicle contour • at a distance of 500mm from the exhaust outlet. Run the engine at a constant speed of 3/4 of it's maximum power speed. Max 101 db(A) As for the referance to the dodgy tyre:- Tyre Cuts A cut in excess of 25mm or 10% of the section width of the tyre , whichever is the greater, measured in any direction on the outside of the tyre and deep enough to reach the ply or cord would deem the tyre illegal. Ply or Cord Exposure If there is any cut in the tyre no matter how small which exposes cords, then the tyre is illegal. Lumps, Tears and Bulges Regulation 27 section (d) states - " the tyre has any lump, bulge or tear caused by separation or partial failure of its structure ".It is good practice wherever possible when assessing damage that the tyre is removed from the rim and systematically inspected both internally and externally. Tread Depth The legal minimum tread depth for cars and light trailers (including caravans) up to 3500 kgs gross vehicle weight and/or 8 seated passenger vehicles including driver is: A minimum of 1.6mm in a continuous band throughout the central three-quarters of the tread width, throughout the whole of the circumference In other words, the tyre can be as bold as a coot on the edges as long as the cords of the tyre are not showing and the central 3/4 has 1.6mm depth left on it. The law has changed as the edges used to need at least visable tread left but in recent years has now been changed to BOLD AS A COOT!!! That's the law as I understand it!!!
