I did find out a little about it but I'm not going to bother. I understand that to do it right the car needs to be stripped and go on a jig and every seam has to be done to strengthen the whole chassis. This is a bit extreme for what I am building at the moment. The cage alone will strengthen the car...to an extent anyway. Cheers for the comments lads. Spent a bit of time on the car yesterday and this morning. Cleaned out all of the sound deadening residue, glue and crap. I seen a thread on snet where some1 said they used UPVC cleaner to remove the stuff, b******s!!!! Needed some heavy duty mak yer heed buzz stuff to remove it. Then this morning I took some pics outside the workshop as I need the pics to send off to Custom Cages in order to get their approval and to get an MSA certificate. I then moved the wiring loom and started taping things up in preparation for the painter. Rich

The sound deadening has been removed and I have bought some UPVC cleaner to remove the residue. I havn't read much into seam welding. I take it this is to stiffen the chassis even more? Your right, now is the time to get it done. Rich

Wee update: The cage has been fully welded up and looks to be done quite well, few pics off my phone... I'll be prepping the car on monday/tuesday for painting the floor and cage. The dash is going to be trimmed this week to suit the cage. Still need to source some harnesses. Anyone got any tips for removing the residual sound deadening on the floor? Rich

Enter the Cullenmin I have hinted at the possibility of a run in the far north of Scotland with an overnight stay in Ullapool. I'd be up for doing both a Skye Run and a Northern Run, both with overnight stays and in a large group. Possibly split them up by a few months (Pre summer & post summer). What tyre you going for, width wise? I'd go for at least 18 x 8, maybe even 8.5 as long as it didnt stick out or look odd Rich

Thanks Gary, I have been looking at demon tweeks. I'm sure they used to do a 10% discount on sidc members, wonder if thats still the case!?! That harness looks good but trying not to spend unnecessarily. Thanks mate, built engine will come in the future. I'm looking at getting some harnesses. Not more than £150 each. Can anyone point me in the right direction or show me some that are suitable for me that attach to the rear of the roll cage? Cheers Rich
