About DannyS

  1. Hi All, Whilst washing my car on Friday I found that some moron has hit my scooby whilst it has been parked somewhere. It is on the near side corner of my rear bumper and it has left a scrape about the size of the palm of my hand. In some places it has gone right through the paint and scratched away some of the plastic, they have definately hit it hard enough to know what they have done but still buggered off withought leaving their details etc. I realise that they were under no obligation to leave their details, however if I had done it (not that I would have) I would have left them my details whether it was a ferrari of a lada. I'm almost as annoyed with myself for not noticing sooner! It was pretty mucky as it hadn't been washed for a couple of weeks and the weather had been rubbish but If I had noticed it when it happened I might have had a better chance of finding out who did it. I am always really careful where I park it and regularly use the wife's company car to go somewhere just because I know the parking isn't great despite the fact that I would much rather be driving my motor. I guess these things happen, and as many of my friends have pointed out it is not the end of the world and it is just a lump of metal that can be fixed - but that doesn't really make me feel much better! Does anyone know of a good bodywork specialist near Hull? The car is obsidian black so has a gold fleck in the paint - will they be able to match this? Cheers
  2. Thanks for the warning, I will go home and check which services have already been done before booking anything. Mine has done 25.5K so they could recommend the same thing, £300 is a big difference!!
  3. My pride and joy is due its 1st service under my ownership and I was wondering if any of you kind people could recommend anywhere close to Hull that would do a good job (or let me know where not to go)? It is a 53 plate STi Type UK and it has had a few services to date, all but the last one was with a Subaru dealer. Cheers Danny
  4. Hi Everyone, I have just had a new set of Eagle F1s fitted and as the bridgestones were getting a bit skinny, plus I could not wait to get rid of the road noise and tramlining! (saved over £120 by going through MyTyres.co.uk compared to a local fitter) When the old tyres were taken off I noticed that the outside edge of the front left was a bit more worn then the rest of the tyre as was the inside edge of the front right (rears were even all the way across). I asked what the fitter thought could be the reason for this and the only explanation he could come up with was that it might have been caused by going fast around round abouts, which I must admit is a regular occurance. I have done a quick search on the forums and only found questions about either both inside or both outside edges being worn, probably due to pressures / tracking / geometry. Could it be the roundabout thing (which I guess is unavoidable unless I stop having fun - not likely) or should I get 4 wheel laser alignment done to make sure? Don't want to have to be changing them again sooner then I have to! Also if any one else has a set of 225/45/17 F1s what pressures do you run on the front and rear? The door card says 2.3bar (33psi) on the front and 1.9bar (28psi) on the rear which seems to be quite a difference, am I reading it correctly and if so are these best for the F1's? Cheers Danny
  5. Gutted for ya mate, I know how bad I feel when I find a new stone chip so seeing that must be hell! I hope that they are in pain for the rest of their lives and regret what they did forever (if this type of scum are clever enough to have regrets)! Also hope that they ran into an inanimate object (looks like it might have been a castle) and didn't hurt any inoscent people. Good luck with the insurance and finding a new motor Danny
  6. Hi everyone, Just had to let somebody know that I managed 300 miles between refills (52 litres) this week! That's about 26 mpg![] The main reason for this was I've been working about 50 miles away and most of it is on twisty and hilly single carriageways that are used by lots of lorries doing 55mph (not a lot of point in overtaking as there will be another 30 second in front plus about 20 speed cameras - gggrrrrr). It was not much fun, but at least it means next week I can put my foot down safe in the knowledge that I saved some money this week!! Laters Danny PS COME ON ENGLAND!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Glad you like it - took a lot of time and effort to find it and went to see a few that had clearly not been looked after. I think it was worth it!
  8. Hi All, Just thought I'd put up some piccies of my new motor. My Fiance thinks the mud flaps I put on yesterday are taking the black and pink theme a bit too far, I like them though and ther're excellent at keeping it clean. What do you all think? Cheers
  9. I only picked up my impreza the other day and I have had about 8 other impeza drivers wave at me so far (almost every one I have passed), and of course I return the gesture (no bmw drivers tho). I am very impressed with the community spirit that these cars inspire. I used to have quite a nice MR2, a car that also has a bit of a following, and in 4 years of driving I think there were only 3 or 4 other MR2 drivers that waved at me (and one of them was a now very gealous mate!). Can I just ask if these waves are because of a mutual admiriation of each others motors or acknowledgement of the fact that we are all in the same boat with regards high fuel, tax and insurance bills? Or both?
  10. Thanks for the warm welcome [<)] Danny
  11. Glad you think the price was right, I thought so too. It was from a family run dealership (had about 100 cars)
  12. I have just put down a deposit on my first scooby!!!!![] I was just wondering if you kind people could tell me if I have got a good deal? It is a standard 53 plate WRX STi Type UK with 16.5K miles and a full service history and I got the price down to £14.5K. It is black, which I know will be a pain to keep clean but it looks brilliant. It is in mint condition inside and out (doesn't look like it has ever been used). I pick the car up in a couple of weeks and can't wait to drive the 170 miles back home from where I found it.
