About robert_mcdermott

  1. Mine's an X-reg and no Brembos or STI I/C on it either. Not yet anyway.[]
  2. What can I say? The Scooby is running even sweeter than ever. It's not often you find a mechanic who is as rabidly into cars even on his day off! Keep us informed about "Project Legacy". The only thing is, I think you will enjoy building it so much it might never get finished![] Thanks again mate, Rab.
  3. I'm looking for the service schedule for a MY99 Turbo, as in what gets checked and when. I tried the FAQ and googling the problem, but remain as ignorant as usual.
  4. It's nearly that time again- the Scoob needs its 6 monthly TLC. And the slightly pocket crippling timing belt change, sadly. Does anyone have any positive reviews of garages near Glasgow they would like to share? No public slagging please. If you have a horror story that really needs to be told, could you keep it to PMs. Safer for all of us that way! Many thanks in advance.
  5. Thank for all of the kind thoughts people. Sorry, but I don't think the test of this post is going to make much sense, I only found out about Ken's heart attack this morning when I got into work and read Chris' email. For those of you who didn't know him, all I can say is that Ken was one of the best guys I have ever met, simple as that. And it was his fault that Chris and I both have Scoobys after having a go in his! Nothing more to say. I have no words.

  8. "Just hope he does it without taking anyone else out with him, like he nearly did in the clip. Stupid focker." Seconded.
  9. Many thanks for the warm welcome everybody.[]
  10. And my fellow kind, considerate, never get into trouble scooby drivers, of course.[]
  11. After a close call with a Jaguar S-TypeR driver who decided he was racing me and nearly killed himself (I was pottering home thinking about my dinner) I have another type of driver to add to my "inherently nuts" list:- My personal favourites so far: 1)Taxis 2)Buses 3)White Van Man 4)Tiny woman in huge 4x4 5)Old man wearing hat while driving 6) Daddy Cool with a fast car and a mid life crisis. And a special mention for 7)Glasgow Council "Direct and Care" services. Green Polos and Astras driven by social workers. Lethal! Any ideas about other nutters I should be looking out for?
  12. Nothing impressive, I'm afraid. Just the usual nedified Corsas, Clios, Civics etc. Never gets old though![]
  13. "what kind of scoob do ya drive?" Well, it's all my mate Ken's fault. I needed a new car, had a go in his Terzo, the rest is history. I have had my Deep Red Mica MY99 for 9 months now. Decat H&S and PPP kit notwithstanding, it's completely standard. It's even still on 16" wheels! And there might be another new start coming soon. I don't know if Ken has shares in Fuji Heavy Industries or Shell, but he's managed to convince another of our mates to buy a Scooby too!
