  1. Any room for another Scoob in Carnwath ? Hopefully I'll be able to blend in for a quiet Saturday morning to Peebles John
  2. Thanks for the info, but whereabouts in Bathgate is it ?
  3. Folks, Given the weather at the moment, I'm feeling kinda lazy, so can anyone recommend a reasonable hand car wash place, either for self use or with a selection of bods with sponges Work in Edinburgh & live in West Lothian, if that helps narrow the search
  4. Why do people take life so seriously ? Consider the jokes that come out of comedians mouths & compare it to Clarkson ! Top Gear is no longer anything other than motoring based entertqainment & should be treated as such - light hearted entertainment by 3 blokes who are in the fortunate position of not having to act like grown-ups. How much do I envy them

  6. I collect mine this aft so will try get something sorted by the weekend, if I can stop long enough to set up a camera
  7. Hi folks, As it's been awhile since I last had a Scooby ( http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=105385 ), thought I'd let you all know I finally got the insurance sorted & I'll soon be back on the roads with a new STi Now I know there's been a lot of talk about the new Impreza losing this & that after changing from a saloon to a hatch, but in my mind it's kinda like the changes after the classic & if you don't like it, vote with your wallet & avoid. Me, I like the look of the new STi, which is lucky, as I've been waiting 14 months to replace my previous one after some muppet wrote mine off for me Anyway, some pics for those who are interested a few of the outside .... it's got 2 of these ! Nice Recaro seats Badges By the way, it's Midnight Blue & up close & in the sun it is a deep blue, but kinda looks pretty black otherwise All I can say now is roll on Wednesday when it becomes mine
  8. Apologies for this, but I'm a bit puzzled as to why someone buying an RS4 because the new Impreza is ugly causes such comments - is this not like a Top Gear comparison, given the price difference, or are we talking new Impreza Vs pre-owned RS4 ? At the end of the day, personal choice is a wonderful thing & the RS4 does look impressive, but the 4hero's STi looks good as well. Me, well I'm waiting for Wednesday to arrive, when I receive the 'keys' to a 330S, but that's my choice & time will tell if I should've got a Prius instead
  9. £26.5k is a lot of cash to some folks, so I guess it depends on whether you feel it's value for money - I had an MY06 STi & had PPP & 18" wheels added (it all bumps up the 'base' price) & was thinking about getting bucket seats when last year some kind muppet took the decision out of my hands & wrote my STi off, so now I can't wait for Friday, when my new 330S arrives at the dealer - credit crunch, errrrr, heck, you only get 1 life, so live now pay later (seems to work for the money markets !) as for getting an Audi or a Merc - I ain't that old & sensible, well not yet J.
  10. Jools is correct in saying BMW were developing a car, but it's out there already - I was 'fortunate' to have to use a BMW 120d (yuk) whilst my STi was off the road & it did indeed cut the engine when you stopped in traffic with the car out of gear, starting up automatically when you pressed the clutch pedal to engage 1st again. Took a while to get used to, & annoying in stop/start traffic, although it could be switched off at the press of a button. I guess with the amount of traffic & the cost of fuel, it's inevitable that this sort of thing will be used to sell cars, now that safety isn't as much of an issue, as we're all gonna be stuck in traffic jams My concern would be over the definition of 'too long' by traffic wardens, as we already love 'em for their caring attitude towards drivers overstaying their welcome at the meters !!
  11. When you consider the current price of MY08 STi is £26.5k, for an extra £3.5k you get 18" wheels & tyres, recaros, SatNav, keyless entry/push button start & approx 30bhp more, it's not that bad a price Shame the 380S is going to fade away as all concepts do if they don't become a reality .... Don't forget the UK always gets fleeced when it comes to buying anything, but hey, if £30k for a special edition STi in hatchback form is too much, don't buy one, it's a simple choice really John
  12. Simmie - As I said "Was fun to see that the comparable evo X was beaten around a track by the STi - that in my mind, is the big news from that report " Wonder if they'll redo it with the PPP (when it arrives) ? Will anyone care ?
  13. Would have been good had they compared equivalent cars, rather than a standard STi with an evo X FQ360, which sells for approx£11k more - might have given a more balanced view - hang on though, forgot it was Top Gear, they don't do balanced, they do entertainment (which I don't have a problem with, just sometimes they get carried away, thinking they are actually motoring journalists). Was fun to see that the comparable evo X was beaten around a track by the STi - that in my mind, is the big news from that report
  14. Always sad to see a Scoob in such a state - I know how you feel as my 06 STi is similarly knackered, thanks to a muppet in a Rover ripping my rear end off ! http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=105385 Was wondering if you had any problems with your insurance company when it came to getting a settlement figure, or is it easier if the fault is all on the other driver ? I'm concerned I'm gonna lose big time as heard it might be written off due to bodyshell damage, & with it being just over a year old .....
  15. used to be a classic, but now a MY06 STI Type UK PPP
  16. Hi there from a kind of newbie, with a question about what this is (below) in the drivers footwell of my recently purchased MY06 WRX STi anyone got any ideas ? (hope this works, never added a pic before !) John
  17. Became aware of Impreza in 94 with 'Crasher' McRae, who frequently tried to create a hatchback from a saloon (sooo ahead of the subaru boys & their plans for 2008 []), so toddled off to dealer for a test drive & couldn't get grin off my face due to the acceleration & handling. Saved a few pennies & got a classic in 98, which I loved, only replacing it with a new STi this year, which whilst still being a bit basic, has a lot more as 'standard' than the classic had (although what's with that strange slot in the ICE unit ? someone said it was for a thing called a 'cassette' - I thought it was to plug in an iPod [] Still love the acceleration & handling, as any fool can drive at 70 mph, but it's how quick you get there & how you get round the bends that is where the fun is [H]
  18. do you think they'll start to worry/listen when everyone starts ordering the 2007 scooby at the massively discounted price they'll be offering just before the new model comes out ?[]
  19. I usually wave to most if I react in time, but often it's more of a finger-wave whilst still holding the wheel (all I have time for)
  20. Des, I have a MY06 STi back box, but no idea if it will fit a MY02 John
  21. Maybury & Craigleith both look to be ok @ 99.9
