Big 'D'
Hi guys I would like to try and do something in aid of the 'Beer for the boys' effort, the idea being to put a beer in the hand of our troops as they fly home from 6 months or more duty in places like Afghanistan. How cool would it be to turn up in 10+ scoobs with the boots full of beer in aid or this worthy cause, it how to get the beer in the boot that is the problem so please get your ideas in and lets make this happen. edmondo
Cracking Iain Something I been tinkering in my tiny mind is as follows and feel free to dissect it As its coming up to Chrimbo what you need to do is get a display of cars in a major shopping are and have a few bods with Buckets What you can do also is have a Raffle with prizes like the following:- Couple of passenger rides with i.e you at Santa Pod Action Day Tickets etc we do know this works as we had a display of cars a few year ago outside a School Fayre and collected a decent wedge .................and it actually migrated into a spin round the block for a Tenner! just a few thoughts before I crack on a Beer or 12 Link to comment

Keep the ideas coming guys. Cheers Iain Link to comment
stum450n
We've a couple of breweries who are customers at work (wychwood in Witney and S&N) so I'll have a word tomorrow to see if they'll help out. I saw on that site that S&N have already made a donation but I'm sure they'll be keen on further exposure! Link to comment

Big 'D'
Ok here is my plan so far. Contact 216 Sqn at Brize and inform them of our intention to support the 'Beer for the boys' effort. Contact local Supermarkets/Stores to make donations which we can collect in convoy on a set day. Contact local Supermarkets to see if they will allow us to put a couple of cars on show outside the entrance with banners displaying the cause and flyers that we hand out to customers inviting them to make donations of a crate during their shop, obvoiusly the cars would have to be 100% manned at all times and barriered off to avoid damage etc but this can all be done. We could perhaps get some money tins together too so that people can donate small change instead of a crate if need be. I will keep you all posted on any progress. Cheers Iain Link to comment
Big 'D'
Hi guys I have just had a phonecall at work relating to this event, we have been given a green light to go and get what we can in the way of Beer or Funds. I will get onto contacting the local shops etc to get something drawn up. It may be worth contacting the local news and radio stations when we have a final plan drawn up too. We could do with getting the following done prior to the event if anyone can help out that would be great. Obviously the lower the cost these can be done the better. 1. Banner/s relating to 'Beer for the boys' with all required info on, for use on any display/stand we might have. 2. Flyers to hand out on location to invite shoppers to make donations of either beer or funds inc cheque details etc. 3. Car stickers/graphics with a heading relating to the event, eg SIDC Supporting, RAF Brize Norton, Beer for the boys 2009, or something like that (open to suggestions.) Will speak to you this eve when I get home. Good to hear the green light's been officially given too! Link to comment
