Sponsored Diet In Aid Of Mc Millian

Recommended Posts

Yesturday i was informed that i was putting myself in grave danger of becoming Diabetic due to my weight. This is no problem some may think but when i hear the word diabetic i think of daily injections (although i know not all diabetics have to do this) and completely freak as i have a fear of needles/injections.

I was advised that i should lose weight, but due to other medical conditions that seem to have plagued me since i was 11 years old this was going to be no easy task and the G.P thought it would be good if i had a goal. Well as the South West Regions are raisng money for Mc Millian again this year I have decided that i will do this as a sponsored event and raise money for a charity that has helped my family so much in the past.

This is where you can help!

I am looking for kind members who would be willing to help me have an incentive to lose this weight, at present i weigh 25.5stone! (Yep just writting that makes me want to stare in disbelief and curl up in shame)and over the next 4 months (until 31st july) the G.P has suggested trying to lose 2.5 stone so that i weigh in at 23 stone.

Please if you can help, i would appreciate it.

Thanks

Jacqui,

My mother suffered a broken back in 1986 (thanks sainsburys!!) and in turn became a sufferer of LUPUS SLE.

She was unable to move too much and obviously excersize was not an option. she has reached a weight of 21 stone at her peak.

She passed away in 2003 and her weight was 18 stone, through will power and eating good, a small amounts of excersize.

Now i believe that some people are just going to be bigger than others and no matter what you eat and what excersize you do it wont make you thin as a bean pole (even though i personally find that disgusting!)

You have my full support jaq, and you have passed the first Hurdle, YOU want to do this. I truly believe that you are already on the way to your goal. Im sure everyone here will support you in this and if you feel like you need a boost every now and then, just holler on here and we will all rally round!

But remember, no matter what anyone else thinks, its YOU thats important. And its whats inside that counts too!

I have to say that i am surprised as to how easy it can be to change things so its more healthy!

Weekends used to mean old fry up time - fried eggs, beans and sausages, fried bacon and fried mushrooms! Changed that today though to grilled bacon and fresh tomatoes, raw mushrooms and scrambled egg. It looked nicer as well cause it wasnt dripping in fat!

Ed has been good as well - Easter sunday tomorrow and instead of an egg he has got me banana's, strawberries, Raspberries, plums and oranges. bless!

Now though it's time to get this ball really rolling! As you are all aware i am doing it as a sponsored event and from the next local meet i will be holding a clip board with sponsorship forms as im looking for sponsors. I appreciate that there are alot of charity events going on but any small amount would be so appreciated by not just me but by the charity as well. So who will start me off.............

Hi It's Mrs Chicken Stevens here!

We are quite new members but my hubby showed me your message so I just had to post a reply to show our support!

I'm not sure whether you are following a specific diet but just wanted to say that if you are at a lose end and haven't tried it before, Slimming World is brilliant!! If (like me :P ) you have a big appetite then it would be brilliant for you as it's really easy to follow no wieghing or measuring and you can have unlimited portion sizes so can eat lots & lots! You can even have a fry up every day if you like, bonus! I lost 2.5 stone about 5 years ago and have kept it off to this day, my sister-in-law has recently lost 4.5 stone and is maintainging her weight really well too! I would be more than happy to help anyway I can and will obviously offer some sponsership money as an incentive.

Best of Luck!

Kerry :P

Thank you for your reply Kerry.

I think i have gone through nearly every diet going but due to other medical condition which are slightly hindering any attempts they don't work - i have now been advised to approach it using a specialist diet for one of my medical conditions - PCOS -And so im having to thinnk about eating more fish (yuk) and nuts and eat small pieces of veg every 15 minutes. Sounds weird i know but it might just work and they do have a good reputation and it isnt some stange faddy diet. Its called viteline http://www.vitaline-slimming.com

Sounds good & hopefully will do the trick! If you are really stuck Slimming World may be able to give advice on how to work their plan around your medical conditions, I just can't help but preach about them because they have been really good for me and so many other people I know! A few of my friends have PCOS so maybe the link you gave me could even help them! Best of luck & I think I will see you Ice Skating next weekend....should be funny!

You go for it Jacqui, im sure if you stick to the plan you will be fine! Your helping yourself and others so thats a good thing. Im not supposed to eat fried food but i do, raw mushrooms? Have you tried boiling them in milk? They taste much better than raw. My missus bought one of them Lean mean grilling machine, you can do all sorts with them instead of frying. Its amazing how much fat exits the food when you cook on it.

All the best you have my support, how do i sponser you? My email stuwickham69@hotmail.com

Its funny you should say that - just invested in a steamer but did look at that grill thing as well as i do grilled fresh tomotoes and bacon when we have a fry up. i love raw mushrooms so im ok there and with scrambled egg i add a tiny bit of dijon mustard to give it a slight kick!

If anyone would like to sponsor me then i ahve forms for anyone who is going to see me at shows and event or you can make a list on here and i can print off and attach to the forms.

Hmmm Diabetes not great, I have been a type 1 diabetes since i was 12, however it wasnt to bad for me as my brother is a Type 1 Diabetic too he was diagnosed when he was 2, and is 3 years older than me. Whilst growing up mum treated me the same with all the sugar free stuff so hence it wasnt to bad for me, however I was your average teenager and liked the odd chocy bar etc so was harder in my later teens. But diabetes is not what it use to be. You can eat anything you want but you need to manage it, I have been injecting since i was diagnosed and remember one nurse sayng to me its like cleaning your teeth...... its something i have to do every day for the rest of my life and to be honest if i want to continue to live each day then I need my insulin!!

My dad is a Type 2 Diabetic due to being over weight and he has tablets every day but adventually like most type 2 he will most probably end up on insulin injections.

I can give you an incentive hun..... please please try and loose the weight as I wouldnt wish it upon anyone to have diabetes. When I see you on sunday I will tell you al about my experiences and the experiences my brother has just suffered recently due to him not looking after himself and being 38 and was close to dying 2 weeks ago.....

I joined slimming world and believe me the diet does work and you never go hungry!! I have attached a link for you where you can find your local group. The main thing is when loosing weight is that you want to loose weight, This diet does work. I have been there for 5 weeks and I have lost 1 stone and 5lb so far i am well pleased and guess what I am never hungry. Give it a try its well worth it.

http://www.slimmingworld.com/nearest/nearest_group.aspx

I will have a chat on sunday with ya hun

Good Luck

Kaz

Hats off to you, you are one brave lady - we'll all be there to celebrate each milestone you achieve (are you going to get a ticker to go in your siggy?) My late OH had type 2 diabetes and it wasn't much fun so It's great to hear you're so determined not to go there.

How cool is it you're raising money for such a good cause as you go? Top bird!

Really bad day today!

Started off ok and even lunch was healthy but then worry started to set in and it was conforting eating big time. Kebab for tea. Feel disgusted now especially after all the hard effort. Just trying to calm down and relax.

Go easy on yourself, was just a glitch. Next time you start feeling a tense, get some ad-hoc exercise and spread endorphines round your bod by jumping Ed!!
