craig79 Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Been killing a wee bit o time in work looking at all the different models of impreza. As with most of the subaru community, fell in love with the 22B - what a machine !! Remember a while back that these still go for 15k approx, is this still the case (the wee wheelies are turnin' []) ?? Craig.
oobster Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/116988.htm - £24,000 http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/166706.htm - £22,000 http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/172351.htm - £18,995 http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/173325.htm - £15,995 (this one is a Cat D)
craig79 Posted June 7, 2007 Author Posted June 7, 2007 Cheers lads, so i was a wee bit off wi the 15k then[:$] What are these things like to live with, i know they've got stiffner suspension and closer ratio g/boxes but in real life how are they ? I mostly nip about town, furthest i've been on a dualer with my car is edinburgh. Would be handy if someone on here could comment ? Thanks again.
ANDYJDMSTI Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Drop Del (SCOOBAY) a pm as he has one in Ayrshire.
oobster Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 There's also a guy up the east coast somewhere that has one... http://forums.sidc.co.uk/members/twentytwobee.aspx
colin_ross Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Let me put it this way. There are 2 types of Subaru drivers, those that drive 22B's and those that want to.
craig79 Posted June 7, 2007 Author Posted June 7, 2007 Let me put it this way. There are 2 types of Subaru drivers, those that drive 22B's and those that want to. That tells me loads [] Know what you're saying tho, there's always gonna be wanna be dreamers and there's always gonna be the unsure information hunters - i'm the latter. The main reason for the interest is you drive around and frankly get bored of seeing the same old impreza models. We all want better things eh suppose it's just a question of how bad you want it ?
exvaux Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 buy a V5 or V6 type R a lot cheaper, very similar and if you can live with the close ratio box and stuff in that then you can live with a 22b
AlanG Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 imo the only thing special about is that you have something different from the norm. Driving it feels no different from any other classic. The interior is familiar surroundings, gearbox, acceleration etc etc. All typical of the jap sti stuff. One of the only ways you know it's different from the ordinary Impreza's is when you step outside and see the difference. You don't really notice it when you're in the driving seat. ( and yes, i have driven them, very low mileage too)
craig79 Posted June 8, 2007 Author Posted June 8, 2007 Learning all the time here - so you rekon the type r is a similar kind of car then. Sorry for the novice questions never driven a classic. Think it's the 'rawness' of classics that appeal to me at the mo if that makes sense ? I'm feeling with the blobs you feel a bit more detached from the driving experience. Really appreciating the info lads, thanks. Craig.

I think i may be able to help you on this one or maybe i've just seen an opportunity to help us both out.[] In august im gona be changing nappies for the 1st time (wish me luck)[+o(] of course im very happy with it being my first [] im also sad that having a V4 type R isnt the most practical car [:^)] & so im looking to sell come august/september if you are interested []
Fee Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 Is it not the case that the 22b is a 2.2l, but has a smaller turbo than the TypeR so the two of them kind of make the two cars pretty much even power wise? I had a typeR....loved it Would love a 22b, but can't really justify spending £10k more just to have wider arches. I looked at them a couple of years ago and there were a few for sale for £16k ish, it would seem that they have gone up in value since then
craig79 Posted June 8, 2007 Author Posted June 8, 2007 Cheers Chris, not saying no mate, it's just that it's a very fresh idea i've got at the mo, i'm pretty prone for making rash decisions according to the missus[] My plans are; do a bit of background checking, possibly even sit me a.rse in a classic and just see if they are actually for me. As I said, alot will be depending on getting in one at some stage and of course finding what kind of type r's you get for what type of money. All the best with the wee addition mate, m sure you'll be fine []. Outta interest got any pics of the motor ?? Craig.

For me it's prob a status thing - i'm in the same boat though it's alot o wonga to dish out for a bit of nostalgia ?? (would be flippin' great tho !!) Craig.

craig79 Posted June 8, 2007 Author Posted June 8, 2007 Fee, saw that one mate, it's a cracker aye !! Pistonheads have alot on there at the moment. Craig.
exvaux Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 3 cars i always wanted were a V5 type r,22b and a WR1,got the typeR,salary review in august so i might be in line for a new car early next year,as alan said theres no real difference inside or in performance with the late model classics and the 22b your payin for the rarity, type Rs they made 1000 of each,wr1 made 500 of each and the 22b only 400.
Chris Reside Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 Cheers mate, not very good with this technical stuff. Here's a few pics. Got plenty pics if you want any more. Let me know what you think
wrxchris Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 i think the best way to look at it is like this, if i had enough money, id have one just sittin in the garage, just so that i had one, but id have a v6 type r as my everyday use!
