The fastest front wheel drive car in Europe will be there.

Things are hotting up on the Volkswagen front. The shootout should be good fun.

I have contacted 3 V-DUB mags who are going to run a feature can anyone give me any details of a Subaru magazine.

Can I assume we have a shootout the volkswagen racers are looking forward to it. It will be great fun and we will match up each car  with similar performance.

Is an Impreza owner willing to represent the Subura side to give me the info of individuals cars.

I'm hoping this will be an annual affair. The only dowside to this is that the Impreza seems to be evolving at an alarming rate.

Thanks again

Peter

2. Fai17       MY04STI Type UK     400bhp
3. GaryD       MY02STI Type UK     330bhp
4. Nanaki     MY00 Turbo 2000       215bhp

Well 215 is the stock figure and I haven't changed that much. Anyone care to hazard a guess at what a Ninja II backbox, Magnex decat centre and a TSL Green Filter would add to that if anything?

My best is a 13.72 but anything under 14 is a good run.

Of course this is all on the basis that I get the car back from S&S as it goes in Monday to get rest of the gearbox bearings replaced.

Its looking good so far. I'm getting a cup made up for the shootout any suggestions to the name.

Something like St Andrews cup or Ferdinand cup after the inventor of the flat four engine.

What do you think?

I will post the Subaru line up on the VW forum just to show them how serious you are.

Cheers Guys

Post up a link to the VW forum, would like a gander!

No worries Gary please take some of the comments with a pinch of salt. The ones that reckon they are going to give you a pasting will be the one's watching[H]

I have to stir the VW fans up to get a reaction from the Cheech and Chong side of the fence.

Before I unleash the thread the car I am racing is a 1958 karmann ghia with a normally aspirated VW engine. The heads were ported by a guy called

Fred Simpson from California who was involved in the initial development of the Prodrive Impreza. Fred has a company called Performance technology and has been involved in

VW drag racing for over 30 years. The heads are a work of art

Just one more thing we will be putting on a barbacue for you guys at lunch time so you will truely welcome, although we will be trying our damdest to beat you.

So come on the Dubby Doo's and down with the Scoobies[:D]

I will be up for this in my VW though a 96 VR6 never been a 1/4 mile as yet though made a mear 198bhp on the rollers so

could struggle somewhat but should be fun

Posted

i take it the usuall setup will be used there ?

ie the standard timing gear and lights ?

i would be tempted to go but cant be arsed with the set up and the gear they use, would think that it would be a very good event and something that can and would do both clubs a lot of good

just a shame that theres not another venue that we can use

just my thoughts guys, i've said that i shant be going to crail for the 1/4 mile again and i wont

Posted

why not steve? i thought your time at crail and SSO were pretty similary matched were they not? i know crails a dump but like you said there is no place else really [:S]

Posted

with the amount of money they take in they could spend some of it on a better set of timing gear

not bothered about my times, as they were pretty much the same from crail to york

but

the set up down at york was far far better, no buggering about with folk not being out of stage or out

drive up, get in stage, watch the lights and your off

the main thing is the amount of time your sat on you clutch at crail is daft

as said, these are my points of view and not everyone will sharer them

I've got divided loyalties with owning a Polo G40 and the scooby, altho I hope us scoobies do well!

Seen the post about camping at the strip, is that an open invite for us aswell? Mite be up for camping if the weather is okay!

Of course your welcome. I'm trying to lure my friend along who has a VX220t he has been going on about his car for a year and hasn't stopped it will be great just to see how fast it is.

Excuse my ignorance below there is more information etc we just found out about the camping a couple of days ago.I can't access myspace so I'm not sure and what updates my mate has put up.

I'm working in the middle of the sahara desert until Wednesday

Your right about the tree its a pain but it will still be fun and maybe if we get a decent turn out we could run a shootout at York.

So as far as the shootout is concerned we need a representative from the Scoobies to make sure we are running the races on a level playing field.

Cheers
