WR1 Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Hi all, I started asking questions in technical but probably better for me to post this here as it relates to our area. I have a 2003 WRX and the standard brakes don't stop the car. I've been looking at XtremeScoobies in Chelmsford and they have a few brake upgrades listed. These two caught my eye: DBA Sport 4000 6x6 Wiper-Slot DBA SPORT 5000 2 Piece Anyone any experience of these please. Would they fit under my standard 17" wheels or would I need to upgrade them also? Be interested to hear what people have to say on here before calling them. Also, I presume they are able to tell me what bhp the car is putting out or is there someone better to find that out. It's been a while since I last did that. Used a place in Witham but cannot remember what they were called. Anyone able to remind me please. Thanks SquirrelHead
Chris77 Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 i've got goodspeed brakes on my bug eye and they are great, i'm sure there was a group buy of DBA a little while ago, my godspeeds will fit under a 17" wheel i think but the space saver dosn't fit on the front any more!!! havn't answered any of your questions here but hope it helps. chris
dibs Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 I'd give Knowlesy a call at Xtreme Scoobies - he's very helpful and will give you a few options (pads/discs/braided hoses/calipers/etc). I have a Brembo upgrade on mine with the Godspeed 335mm discs and they are excellent. It really comes down to how much you want to spend though..... Also check out the group buy sections on here and scoobynet as there are always brakes on there. You should be fine on 17" wheels as most kits have an option which will fit under these. Xtreme Scoobies don't have a rolling road - I think the one you are thinking of is Engine Advantages at Witham. Hope this helps. Dibs [H]
WR1 Posted May 25, 2007 Author Posted May 25, 2007 Thanks for the info. I've spoken to XS & they recommended I go for the 6 pot AP on the front only and leave the rear brakes as standard. Is this what everyone else has done, just upgraded the fronts? I know most of the braking gets sent to the front of the car but still. What sort of price would I be looking at for the Godpseed 335mm discs please. Would I get change from a grand or not? Thanks SquirrelHead
Chris77 Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 http://www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk/Subaru/subaru.htm all you need to know is here it cost me about 100 to have them fitted i think,
smudga Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 IMO depends what use you put them to, if its just for road or track as well. For road use on my old STi I upgraded the standard pads to DS2500 front and rear and changed the front discs to DBA 4000 series 6 x 6 wiper slot ... they were good, no fade and stopped time after time []
