james_tisdall Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Hi, after having new head gaskets, clutch, oil pump and plugs as the engine was on its way back in the mechanic noticed that my plastic re-circ dump valve was broken, he has lashed it and made good but now im looking for a replacement one, i dont really want the chavvy noise so another re-circulating would be good, can anyone point me in the right direction of what to get, also i need to try and get it for friday at the latest as im off to the Nurburgring on saturday. Also is it easy to fit a front mounted intercooler if ive got a day to spare and a fully kitted workshop with ramp? thanks James
james_tisdall Posted May 22, 2007 Author Posted May 22, 2007 forgot to say, its a 1998 version 4 wrx sti with the ej20k engine
darryl_martin Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Could try a breakers mate, grade A subaru, HDC, or there's one in essex for example, or www.japperfomanceparts.co.uk might not be too far from you? Crawley?
HOL Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 The best replacement I had on my old TypeR was a Forge one. Held the boost better and no diff in noise. As stated above you can get SH ones. Id put a wanted in SN. You could fit a front mount in a day, if the pipework was good quality (Do your research when buying the kit). The time waster is actually in trimming the bumper afterwards not fitting the core and pipes.
granby Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 The time waster is actually in trimming the bumper afterwards not fitting the core and pipes. Bumper on, take bumper off and trim a bit, Bumper on, take bumper off and trim a bit, Bumper on, take bumper off and trim a bit, and repeat, repeat ,repeat, repeat []
dazzlers82 Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 there is a project write up on sn that has measurements of how much you need to cut i think an i done mine in less than a day so is not difficult as said just bumper.
