baser999 Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Have had problems arming / disarming the car a couple of times lately and on both occasions have noticed that I've been parked near to radio transmitters / aeriels which I'm assuming to be the cause . Short of just locking the doors with the key can anything be done to get round this problem? Away from these aeriels I have no problems whatsoever with the alarm.
Guest leebo77 Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 If it won't lock at all, then I'd suggest moving the car somewhere else to park. If it does lock and then won't open - use the key to open it (which will set the alarm off) and then key in the alarm code into the keypad. You might want to memorise the alarm code (or save it into your mobile phone under a recognisable contact). When I picked the RB up yesterday the dealer said that sometimes these masts can cause problems.

I could lock it ok, but in the small carpark outside a restaurant it refused to unlock, and once inside with the key, I couldn't reset the immobiliser. (aftermarket alarm, no keypad). I had to push it 20metres before it would play.

The extra boost they provided managed to get the fob to override anything else[Y] Solution is to get the alarm shielded. Subaru admitted the problem and said they can get the parts for free but would have to charge £100 labour, or something like that!! What about trying Sigma Sam for any advice? Keypad is in glovebox
baser999 Posted May 23, 2007 Author Posted May 23, 2007 Have found the Sigma booklet but having taken 3 covers out of the glovebox can say that theres nothing there resembling a keypad. Can only assume that either my alarm doesn't have one, although in the booklet there are the original stickers with the pin number on [*-)] and furthermore most of the stuff in the booklet is relevant - or the keypad is elsewhere. Any other help would be welcome.

baser999 Posted June 4, 2007 Author Posted June 4, 2007 Sorted - with the advice of Sigma Sam. Ordered keypad in through Lifestyles in T/Wells and went down to pick it up today. Really good service from Tim (the Parts Manager) who found time to have someone fit it for me - their hourly rate though is very very SCAREY!! Apart from that, would recommend them and had no trouble claiming SIDC discount of 12.5%. Wouldn't normally have had a main dealer do the work for this reason alone but hey as the car was there and the job needed doing......................
