~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/6655853.stm ...........part of the reason your fuel is costing so much at present. Yes the government can be blamed in some respects but supply and demand govern the while process ultimately. Same with gas prices - a mild winter has lead to a fall in domestic gas prices ( when they suppliers actually pass it on !) I filled up with V-power on the Ring trip in various parts of Holland and Germany and fuel was more or less the same price ... The price is not so good at present but there are sooooo many reasons as to why the price fluctuates CGS
scoobyiain Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 fuel has risen because i make so many f*$k ups at work [:'(] Nah just kidding. i'm away to work now to help get the oil ashore []
thewelsho Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Granted. But I can't help thinking that these factors are manufactured by oil companies to intentionally drive up the price to lace their greedy, and already filled pockets. Some of the factors we hear about in the news are laughable, usually to do with terrorsism, bull-cr@p!
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted May 16, 2007 Author Posted May 16, 2007 Maybies..............but almost every pension in the UK is linked to the share price of oil majors so it's not all bad news. Petrol stations mae "hee haw" revenue from fuel sales. 4p in every litre IIRC ! Why are they greedy though..........why should these well established 100 year old companies not make a decent profit from what is a highly specialised, unique and capital intensive industry. If anything it's the shareholders who are to blame as they demand a % increase on previous years profits. I feel a capitalism thread coming on ......... I do appreciate everyones views but you have to remember the oil companies are about more than fuel production. The toothpaste tube you used this morning will have been manufactured from oil related by-products. And pretty much anything plastic on our Scoobies will have been manufactured from something produced by the oil industry. Even yer burds perfum and the additives in your dinner last night. Even when the power is cut to your home we use a candles which again are made from oil. As are detergents and medicines. Next time your play a CD in your chariot you can also pay homage to the numerous SIDC members who work in the oil game.... Having said that I still hate paying over a pound for a litre of motion lotion !
RA Dunk Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 as long as the price of oil is high im in a job, long may it continue []
exvaux Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Kinda goin off topic but how many folk on here are there workin in this industry, seems like half the folk are off shore or headin there lol
westtra Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 am offshore too and know the hassles and reward of gettin it out oh the ground. More hassles than owt else and its a nightmare as the companies are all performace and profit driven so we get hassle from above for any little blip down in production but **** all if we make a bit extra usually. it does leave a sour taste payin over a £1 a ltr but on the bright side got the V power day fuel from BOD shell today made the run home bit more enjoyable.
